C.J. Beathard (1 Viewer)

I like Beathard's overall game. Underrated skills, good athlete, lots of intangibles.

Ended up getting Beathard in all my dynasty leagues with little investment.

Any thoughts?

He an interesting add in Dynasty leagues since you get to test drive him without any cost. So if he's a waiver add it makes sense if you have a roster spot open.

What I'd like to know is how people value him compared to Hundley in Dynasty. I assume in most cases, both are on the wire. Who do you pick up to test drive for the year?  If Beathard performs very well he's got a shot at keeping the starting gig. If Hundley does well, he becomes trade bait for Green Bay in the off season...

I might be different than most FFers who are considering Beathard. I've had him rostered in all my dynasty leagues since before the regular season with either a low round draft pick or a FA move as a stash. I was pretty sure he was going to get a shot this season & that's what you want if they're ready. I don't believe Beathard will get overwhelmed like Kizer (for one, he's more advanced as a prospect), but we'll see how he does.

I'm not sky-high on Beathard, but this kid has something you can't quite put your finger on. Doesn't mean he's going to be a long-term starter, but he's an interesting prospect for sure.

Unless in a 2qb league I find it hard to roster him unless you have enormous rosters. He’s a true lottery ticket to even be a qb2 for more than a year.

Definitely one of your bottom roster spots, but depending on league format, scoring, & team makeup, he's worth a stash.

It really depends on what Beathard does going forward. I'm hoping the 9ers give him the rest of this season to see what they have.

Lost Rodgers and Hoyer was my back up :wall:

gunning for Fitz then Beathard and do a streaming thing. Not much out there.

Turnovers-bad, but rushing stats and TDs-good.

Seems like he throws a nice catchable ball, but his accuracy and decision making aren't top notch.

The rushing stats may be good from a fantasy football perspective, but they're not always a good sign from a real life football perspective.

If you start to run every single time that your first read isn't wide open, then you're probably not a very good NFL quarterback.

He had 5 carries compared to 38 pass attempts.  By comparison in terms of rookies with little experience under their belt, Trubisky had 5 carries on 7 pass attempts.

There is almost no scenario in which the 49ers don't draft a QB with their firs pick next year. This guy is a career backup.

The upcoming QB class has taken an enormous hit. This group of QBs may very well have been vastly overrated.

Beathard is a legit prospect. He held up pretty danged well for a rookie QB in his first start against a far superior opponent.

I like Beathard's overall game. As far as FF, his legs will be a bonus. Very underrated athlete. Lots of rookies would have folded, especially those without a lot of help like Beathard. Considering his price, he's a good stash. In superflex leagues, Beathard can start for you & somebody you can hold to see how he develops.

I can't get over his name.

At least he doesn't play for Denver... that'd be a nightmare calling that game... Beathard to Butt... on the money! Score!

I don't think there's any chance SF doesn't take a QB first round next year. It'd be career suicide for Lynch if he didn't.

Worth a dynasty stash, sure, he's cheap, but otherwise nothing to see here IMO

Are you just talking about the spelling of Beathard's name because it's not pronounced the way it looks.  I know when he first came to Iowa people getting his name wrong all the time.

Yeah I've never heard of the guy. So yes, not an expert on pronouncing his name. I imagine it's a th sound with emphasis on a 1 word, not a two word pronunciation

Coach Kyle Shanahan announced C.J. Beathard will start Week 12 against the Seahawks.

After getting their first win of the season last time out against the Giants, Shanahan will give Beathard another game under center coming out of the bye, and Jimmy Garoppolo will continue to have to wait his turn with his new team. We'd still expect to see Garoppolo before the season is over. Beathard has managed back-to-back top-12 fantasy finishes and is on the streaming radar once again at home against an overrated defense missing several key components.

C.J. Beathard completed 23-of-37 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the 49ers' Week 4 loss to the Chargers.

Beathard wasn't so bad in the game with Kyle Shanahan only asking his quarterback to attempt two passes 20+ yards down the field. The 49ers might be able to dink-and-dunk their way down the field like they did today, but it's tough to imagine this offense being explosive with Beathard and a below average receiving group. He averaged 237 yards and only had three total touchdowns in five starts last season.

I liked what I saw from him in what I caught on redzone. At least one of those INTs was on the receiver (bobbled/popped up off the chest). The injury he went out with was on a real tough run where he took a big hit; don’t want him doing that a ton but should certainly earn locker room respect

Some definite lottery ticket potential here. 22.8 and 22.7 points in his two starts. That's a top 10 QB if he were able to maintain it. Not saying he will, but I'm at the point where he's worth a stash. If he's reached the competence level, that can be pretty valuable in a Shanahan offense. Owned in only 3.7% of ESPN leagues.

C.J. Beathard (wrist) is uncertain for Thursday's game against the Raiders.

Per coach Kyle Shanahan, Beathard is struggling to hold the ball. Shanahan believes Beathard would be ready were the 49ers playing on Sunday, so it's not a major injury, just an ill-timed one. Second-year UDFA Nick Mullens would get the call if Beathard can't go. Tom Savage is the nuclear third option.

I maintain Beathard would've been a very nice dynasty stash had the 9ers not went out & got Garappolo.

Beathard got trashed by FFers last season as a rookie (unfairly, IMO), but the dude has NFL ability with upside & a plus situation (without Jimmy G).

Who knows. Maybe things will still pan out for him long-term.

Arrrrrgghh, I have Luck and Bortles on Bye week. I really need him to play no other choices available except Peterman and I'd rather go without a QB than chance him.

Beathard and Jameis owner here with no other free agent QBs available

Looking at Lamar Jackson or Taysom Hill over the Peter Man   Less chance of putting up a negative score

I was able to grab Osweiler off of the waiver wire, should have took Mullens but hind sight is always 20/20

C.J. Beathard completed 14-of-19 passes for 138 yards in the 49ers' Week 4 loss to the Eagles.

Beathard stepped in at quarterback after Nick Mullens gifted the Eagles a score on an interception. He marched down the field completing his first eight passes and setting up a Jerick McKinnon score to bring the game within a touchdown. He threw an accurate pass to George Kittle for a two-point conversion but Kittle could not bring it in. Beathard should be expected to start as long as Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) is sidelined. However, this may have been the last game Garoppolo will be inactive for due to a high ankle injury.

C.J. Beathard completed 9-of-18 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' 43-17, Week 5 loss to the Dolphins.

Called on in relief for an apparently-still-injured and ineffective Jimmy Garoppolo, Beathard got the whole second half to himself in comeback mode but still couldn't reach 100 yards passing. His score was a beautiful, 19-yard play action lob to Kendrick Bourne, but it was the only highlight. Beathard was better than Garoppolo, of course. Garoppolo was bad enough that the 49ers will certainly be "re-evaluating" his ankle injury after clearing him to make this start. Frankly, it also seems to be a confidence issue with the Niners' high-priced starter. If Beathard gets the call for Week 6, he will be a volatile QB2 option vs. the Rams.
