Caddy placed on PUP (1 Viewer)

Tampa Bay has officially reduced its roster by five players, with WR Paris Warren the most notable cut.

The other players released are:

LB Antoine Cash (injured) - neck

CB Sammy Davis (injured) - hip flexor

S Donte Nicholson (injured) - knee

Davis was placed on injured reserve, while Cash and Nicholson are “waive injured”, meaning if they clear waivers, they will be also be placed on injured reserve.

In addition, the Bucs have placed RB Cadillac Williams on the reserve physically unable to perform list. He is can not be activated in the first six weeks.

Warren’s cut does not come as a surprise. He was a standout last year before breaking his foot during the final preseason game. Warren attempted to comeback this year, but did not have the same speed he possessed before that injury.

This comes as no surprise. The Bucs are in good shape with Graham, Dunn, and Bennett this season. They can afford to take it easy with Cadillac until 2009.

Why does every Carnell Williams thread always seem to start with a reflexive "stick a fork in him" comment? If Tampa really thought he had no value going forward, why didn't they draft a replacement and drop him from their roster?

Sometimes it is REALLY hard for a team to face the fact of possibly letting go a former 1st round pick.

dodds definitely hit on this one.

Caddy is done, like Dodds said even if his knee is decent his back is shot, which is something that can and probably will be career ending.

RIP Caddy, you looked good for a few games at the beginning of your career, not so much since then.

As a huge Bucs fan, I have to say it would be really sad to not see Caddy come back to play again  The guy was fun to watch and seemed like a good guy.

:goodposting: Pretty much expecting this.I think the news here is that the Bucs feel very comfortable with the 3 RBs they have.
They will surely be in the market for a RB in the draft next year, wont they?
Graham: 28Bennett: 30Dunn: OldI could see them in the market for a RB in the draft IF Caddy can't return next season or if they don't make a move in free agency. I personally feel like a QB with their 1st pick at least is a priority and a talented young WR represents another area of need imo. The OL, TE, FB situation looks good. On D their secondary looks pretty good, but I wouldn't be opposed to them getting more young talent on defense. The reason I love the bucs is because they're a talented defensive team.

Suppose it would come down to who was available when they pick, and what happens this year with what they have. Resigning Graham for Peanuts seems like they will definetly target a RB either in FA or in the draft. I cant see them counting on Caddy...ever.

Anyone surprised by this PUP move should excuse themselves from the Sharkpool. An additional 6 weeks of rehab time will greatly benefit Caddy's knee, and with a week 10 bye, this essentially gives the Bucs 10 weeks to evaluate their running game and decide whether or not to activate or IR Cadillac. Until he's cut or retired, don't stick the fork in him yet, but don't plan on any production for a while either.

Yes, this move was completely expected and as a dynasty owner I'm glad they aren't rushing him. The idea that PUP means "he's done" is ridiculous because he'd be cut like KJ if the team thought that. It's still a long shot that he comes back to being as good as he was but far from an impossibility.

What happened to all the people saying that Graham was a bad fantasy pick because of Caddy from 3 months ago?

I guess Ronnie Brown wins.

Could be one of the worst draft classes in history

Could be a bad draft for Fantasy, but there are a lot of good players from that group. Merriman, Ware, Castillo, Brown, White, Jackson, Miller, Mankins, Rodgers, Campbell...
