Cadillac Williams (1 Viewer)

I see no reason why this kid cannot break into the top-5 in dynasty RB rankings.
I see NO WAY, that this kid can break into the top 10RBs, let alone top 5 RBs. Who are you going to displace ,then, to put Caddy in the top 5? You have Sjax,Lj,LT, Gore , Rudi as top 5 guys from last year , in no particular order. aside from Gore you have 4 solid RB's who should finish in the top 5,yet again. replacing Gore, assuming as I do that he will dropoff in stats or get hurt, I would put the following guys ahead of Caddy:Addai

Parker

Henry

Lynch - that team is NOT a RBBC offense, they use one guy,one guy only.

McGahee

TJ

Edgerrin James

Maroney

Portis/Betts

Seriously now, what has Caddy done since entering the league, that would make you even remotely think that he'll be a top 5 RB?!?! aside from a few lopsided games in 2005 where he ran for 140+ yards, he's a

very ordinary RB. His avg draft position will likely be around RB 17-19.
You must learn to check the date of the quoted post before typing out a diatribe.
Thank you.

If you're going to pin me down on my major projections from last year, feel free to cover them all.

So I nailed Gore and Foster, and whiffed enormously on Cadillac.Nobody's perfect. :pickle:
Its possible otis you were simply a year ahead of everyone...I like his chances in 2007, maybe not top5 but top15-20.

I certainly think he is a BUY now.

Grabbing on OT in the draft is not going to help him with the limited other offensive weapons they have in Tampa.

Caddy is in for much of the same, imo.

Garcia is an NFL QB. Simms and Gradkowski are not. That alone should be reason to rate Cadillac as a buy right now.

Let's jump in the way back machine and address a couple things about the original post.

Pete Prisco often does not know what he is writing about. He is just flat wrong about a ton of things. I can't even remember how many times I have read his articles and just found bad information. Don't read his stuff, he's does not have a great football mind at all. I have stopped reading his stuff because it's so often wrong. Once I was halfway through the orinigally posted article I stopped myself and said who wrote this Pete Prisco, I scrolled back up and sure enough...

Cadillac may consider himself a Porshe because of his speed, but in reality he isn't one of the faster backs in the league. He often gets caught from behind or misses hitting homeruns because he gets angled, he doesn't have that breakaway speed. The one huge run he had against the Vikings in his rookie year, he almost stalled out towards the end. I feel that Cadillac overrates his own speed, which is understandable for an athlete because you have to have that confidence even if it's not true. I don't know how why anyone else didn't pick up on that.

Cadillac is a shifty back, who gets guys off balance and then hits them if he can't burn them. I've heard many accounts from defenders who say that he hits much harder than his size would lead you to believe. He's much more quick than fast, meaning he can stop and start, change directions and stutterstep at a very high level, but his overall top end speed is not world class.

I am a huge Caddy fan, don't get me wrong. I predicted him as ROY and even drafted him high as a rookie, but as a second year player I stayed away. For a very obvious reason that one astute poster picked up on right away, he had such a tough run D schedule in the NFL which makes it too tough when your offensive line blows.

Spend your research time wisely, avoid Pete Prisco. You'd be much much much better off just reading and rereading any post that Jene Bramel makes.

"His offseason tune-up already complete, Cadillac Williams is back in tip-top shape and running like a champ again.

"Health-wise, everything is good," Williams said following a workout Wednesday at One Buc Place. "There's no aching injuries, no pain; I'm good to go.""

RB C. Williams Trying To Strengthen FeetRoy Cummings, Tampa Tribune - [Full Article]In an effort to strengthen the muscles in his feet and improve his overall balance, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had RB Cadillac Williams running in tennis shoes and sometimes with no shoes at all. The change comes as a result of the problems Williams has had avoiding foot injuries, which have cost him playing time in each of his first two seasons. "It's a little different, but it's helping me to get a good feel in my feet," Williams said of the footwear change. "The bottom line is I think it's helping me a lot."
And the good news just keeps coming for Caddy owners!!!!

Some experts now believe that most athletic shoes, with their inflexible soles, structured sides and super-cushioned inserts keep feet so restricted that they may actually be making your feet lazy, weak and more prone to injury. As a result, barefoot training is gaining more attention among coaches, personal trainers and runners.Although a few coaches and marathon runners have preached the value of barefoot training, the method has received more attention lately because shoe giant Nike is promoting its Nike Free shoe, which it claims mimics the sensation of running barefoot. Popular training methods aimed at improving running form, including the Pose Method (http://www.posetech.com) and ChiRunning (http://www.chirunning.com), also are prompting runners to consider minimalist foot gear or none at all as a way to allow their natural body mechanics to take over.

Is Garcia going to block for him?
No but these guys should03/06/2007 Signed free agent T Luke Petitgout. 04/03/2007 Signed free agent C/G Matt Lehr04/28/2007 Drafted Tennessee G Arron Sears with the third pick of the second round (35th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft. The Giants are still trying to replace Petitgout. I think these guys will be a nice upgrade to the o-line woes from last year.

Sears draft grade was just as high as Joseph who they grabbed a year earlier. They could potentially help anchor that line for a long time.

Sears is excellent - that was a great pick - I'm skeptical on how much he'll help this season, but we shall see.

Petitigout is really on the outs of his career - he wasn't performing especially well before he was injured iirc

Even if Petitgout is a letdown (and he probably will be), they have a nice foundation for the OLine with Sears, Joseph, Trueblood and likely Buenning at center. They should be able to at least run the ball this year with that line and Garcia in there to keep 9 guys out of the box.

I was reading a PR insider article this morning, and they said the Buc's were running alot of screen passes at the recent OTA's. Caddy was the recipient of most  Something to keep an eye on if your in PPR leagues. ;)

I am not happy that the Bucs retained Alsuck again this offseason even though statisticly Carnell Williams has proven to be more effective in short yardage situations than Alsuck is.

But once again some TD opportunities will probobly be lost.

Not saying it isn't good for the Bucs team as Alstott does punish defenders at times when used in small doses. It does suck as a Williams owner in fantasy however.

Its good to hear that Caddy is becoming more involved in the passing game. Especially with how much Chucky likes to throw the ball.

I am cautiously optimistic about Caddy having a good season. I do like the offensive line pieces in place. It remains to be seen how quickly they gel and play as one unit.

I think he can perform as a decent RB2 and has the talent to be better than that but I am not expecting it.

Agreed, I wasn't happy either. But to look at it from "glass half-full" perspective, Alstott isn't getting any younger and at some point may hit the proverbial wall this year.

I was w/you on all 3 of these, Otis----LOVED Frank Gore at his ADP last year and won serveral leagues w/him and either Brees or Kitna (2 more we hit over the fence)I'd never imagine Caddy would limp in 39th :wall:

(and calling it top 15 for Caddy this year :lmao: )

I definitely think the guy presents oodles of value this year. Not sure how early I'd draft him, but smart money says he'll outperform his ADP (whatever that ends up being, it will be very low).

Since Jon Gruden has been running NFL offenses, when has he ever had a RB produce top-5 numbers? Maybe you can say he's never had a back with Caddy's talent, and that's probably true, but nonetheless Gruden's offenses have never emphasized the running game (Pittman is terrible compared to Caddy, and yet he gets tons of playing time simply because he can catch).

Sure we can talk about the ####ty talent surrounding Caddy, but that same ####ty talent surrounds Joey Galloway and his career has been resurrected in Tampa. Caddy will continue to disappoint until he gets a coach that actually cares about having a true running game.

Pittman would be a non factor if the Bucs could actually build and keep a lead . . .
