California = Most Hated State (1 Viewer)

Played Riviera today. 80 degrees, no humidity, blue sky. Hit Umami on the way home. What a hellhole this LA is.
Happy Friday Nips
You too, bro. Ever play the Riv? My lord.
No...it's on my list.
Plush, my friend. We have a decent selection of public courses in town but rolling the ball on those greens is a pleasure.
Let me know if you want a nice discount at Maderas, Trump National or any of the resorts in Palm Springs. PM me anytime.
Appreciate it. Funny. someone in our foursome had just played the trump course. Said it's a crazy tough track. Same place where the last 3 holes fell into the ocean before it was trump? any idea?
I've heard that story before, but can't remember what the course used to be called.
Prior to Trump it was called Ocean Trails. I played it before and after the landslide. It was better before The Donald put his signature waterfall shtick to the place but it's still a good Pete Dye seaside course always in great shape. Hate California? Too many humans sometimes but just get away to the desert, Mammoth, Shasta, Yosemite if you feel the pinch.

LA is a horrible tourist destination. People come and hang out near the airport or Hollywood blvd, both of those places are nasty. Or they go to Universal or something and then sit in traffic for hours. I can understand people from out of town saying the place sucks. I get it. Place is huge, gotta know where to stay, know what roads to to steer clear of and avoid tourist traps.
There's a lot of dirty, nasty places in this town so I get it, too. I had to make the drive on side streets from the west side to downtown this morning and I would hate this city too if I had to see that every day. Avoiding the traffic here is huge and people who come and think the 405 or the 10 is the best way to get around probably end up hating this place.
Where you live?
Bel Air.

Here is the thing.... All other states have states around them that are very similar. The states in the northeast are all pretty much the same. I mean, who can tell the difference between the obnoxious New Yorker versus the annoying Bostonian if it was not for their dumb accents? The midwest is all the same just as the south is. If you are in Alabama, how are you going to hate your South Carolina clone? The pacific northwest- Washington and Oregon might as well be the same state. The southwest is one big ole' dessert. The only outliers are Hawaii and Alaska. Everyone loves Hawaii and no one ever thinks about Alaska. So, the only unique state that has everything within it's borders with great weather is California.
Florida?
clone of New York
With a little redneck thrown in for good measure.

Hey, we're neighbors.

I am a Native Californian, and it's funny that the Natives in California will drive around with bumper stickers with "NATIVE" on the back fender. :lmao:
I spend a lot of time driving on the freeways in California (both Southern and Northern). I have never seen a single car with that on it.
Seriously, the North (Norte mayne!) rules. #### Smell-A.
Gotta love NoCal people. You guys spend a lot of time hating L.A. (and SoCal).
Lived in CA all my life, never see these bumper stickers. Norcal haters crack me up. Socal and LA just don't give a #### about norcal.

Screw Cali. Why all the hate for Illinois?
In the top 3-5 for worst budget situations. In the top 3-5 for concentration of illegals. Miserably corrupt government - most governors in recent history end up behind bars. Rahm. Taxes shooting up, so businesses are fleeing the place. There's a tad to dislike.
None of this stuff will cause much national hate.Having a sitting President from your state will. The real answer is Obama.I bet Texas was 2nd towards the end of W Bush's tenure.

Just like people hate...

the Steelers

the Yankees

the Lakers
C'mon Steeler fan, you want to believe this is true. You'd be 100% accurate about the Yankees and Lakers being hated over generations. In Football it was the Raiders for a very long time. Even now, there are a lot more Raider haters than Steeler haters. I'd say a helluva lot more Patriot haters that Steelers. I don't get the hate you speak of. 99% of the FFA agrees w/me.

True, people visit for the flat/hot/humid parts of the state near bodies of water... but they stay for the snow skiing.

When I think of hated football franchises my first thought is the Cowboys("Americas Team"). People outside the state of TX tend to either love them or hate them. Steelers and Packers are successful and still not hated imo. The raiders may have been hated at one time, but they haven't been above .500 in a decade. I don't think many teams that average 4 or 5 wins a season are really "hated". I'm a Charger fan - I wish there were two raider teams in the AFC West.

I've never been to California. I'd like to go one time.

I still dislike it though. Don't really have a good reason for it other than being annoyed by the expression "cali".

When it comes to the NFL, there is only one. The Dallas Cowboys--America's Team.

I've spent too much time thinking about the best place to retire, and look at me, I can pretty much write my ticket in 7-8 years. I've researched it. I've traveled a bunch specifically thinking about it, including Hawaii. If I go with the city retirement idea, and there's a lot of reasons to go that way, I can't find a place on earth I prefer to Southern California. I've lived in LA, OC, and SD. I can be perfectly happy in any of them. I can't even rank them with any certainty (you know I love LA). For me they are the three best heavily populated places to live on the planet. If I do a few acres in the country type thing, then I'm pretty sold on the south central coast, Santa Barbara to Cayucos. As far as I can tell, leaving California is not an option. I need to spend most of my time outside (even as I type this with the OJ fresh squeezed from my own trees). The rest of the country, all of it, sucks for me. :banned:

If I do a few acres in the country type thing, then I'm pretty sold on the south central coast, Santa Barbara to Cayucos.
Why do you hate Cambria?
We do family reunion type things for week in Cambria every summer. Already booked the house on Moonstone for July. The 15 minute difference to SLO town actually bothers me considering the climates are near identical and SLO will be the hub of entertainment and basic shopping. I also like the 1950s SoCal beach feel of Cayucos better than the organic, nocal, rich hippies in the coastal woods feel of Cambria. Water meter prices.

I was kidding. I thought the end-point of Cayucos was funny. FTR I think Cayucos is one of the more underrated spots on the Central Coast. I've stayed at those condos at the north end of the beach several times.

It was very serious! :bag: I have completely over thought this years before it matters.

The weekend I spent in Manhattan Beach in my early 20s will always have a special place in my heart. And by heart, I mean pants.

Americans love Hawaii, dislike California

Raleigh, N.C. – Over the course of four months starting last October, PPP asked American voters nationally what their impressions of each state are. Hawaii came out on top, by far, with California bringing up the rear.

Americans generally have a favorable view of most states. Only five are in negative territory, led by California (27% favorable and 44% unfavorable), Illinois (19-29), New Jersey (25-32), Mississippi (22-28), and Utah (24-27). Only seven other states have net-positive ratings in the single digits, and another breaks even (Louisiana).
Huffpost responds. My link
Perhaps to no one's surprise, California ranked lowest with Republicans (according to the poll results, they "absolutely hate" the state) and highest with Democrats and women. Hawaii was the most liked state, followed by Colorado, Tennessee, South Dakota and Virginia. And then every other state in the country, and THEN California.

Say it ain't so!

Could it be our towering Redwoods? Our staggering coastline? Our 80-degree weather on February 23? Perhaps it's our mild temperament and active lifestyle. Or maybe it's that we're the world's fifth largest supplier of food.

Well here at HuffPost San Francisco, we say good riddance -- you can keep the other 49.
Is this really true?

Why?

:coffee:

Back the truck up...

SF is the best city in the US. But most of you can't afford to live here. SUCK IT
Pretty sure that phrase works better in SF than most places.
I am sure Freddy Mercury loved that city back in the day...lolz
You're pretty obsessed with gay people,
Well its not hard to associate SF with gay people. It kinda goes together like peanut butter and jelly, no?

South Dakota I love, but North Dakota... don't get me started.
I live in North Dakota. I hate it. They probably accounted mostly for the Fargo and Bismarck areas, which are the two big population centers and and, for the most part, are pretty laid back and chill. The oil patch area sucks outside of the money you make.
