California = Most Hated State (1 Viewer)

California is wonderful. If you like a laid back beach vibe there's SD. SF is a charming, beautiful city with some of the friendliest people you'll ever encounter in a big city. LA is a fantastic place if you're a big city person. I live in SoCal and it's a dream. 5 months of the year I can go snowboarding. At any point during the year I can head to one of the many beaches and enjoy gorgeous women in bikinis and work on a tan. Plenty of national forests for the hikers/campers. Every type of ethnic food (and good quality). Great weather almost year round. Always something to do if you're looking for an adventure. For the LA crowd it's easy to go to Vegas at a moment's notice and have a great weekend.

The taxes/politics get a bit crazy at times but every state has its downside. If we're hated because of some convoluted political nonsense like Hollywood's "liberal agenda" of gay rights or whatever then

Los Angeles is the butt hole of the United States.
LA is not representative of CA
Does that make Oakland and SF like the flaps?
after you're done running around in LA, go to the bay for some laid back folks.
My perfect girl would look like she's from So Cal, but think like she's from Nor Cal.
She'd hate people from SoCal for no reason and think anything from SLO to the Mexican border is "L.A.?"
:lmao: noticed Orange County people are pretty sensitive about this
Yes, they hate it.
Because LA and OC are as different as LA and SF. I've never met a person in CA outside of LA proper who likes LA.
Really? Then, I'd argue that said person hasn't really been to LA. There are so many different parts of L.A. with differing entertainment, neighborhoods, etc., that L.A. isn't really one thing. I went to college in the Bay Area and I love it up there. But, all my friends from the Bay that supposedly hated L.A. have all now moved down here and love it.

L.A. and OC are not as different as L.A. and SF. L.A. and S.F. are much more alike than L.A. and the O.C.

The two are very different but I was born/raised in SF and the East Bay. Lived in LA for awhile and I not only liked it, I loved it. It was a 5 minute walk to Grauman's Chinese Theater. Parking was a nightmare and I received a few tickets but other than that it was absolutely fantastic.

I can't smoke a stoogie at the bar now because of California. To hell with them.
Depends on what's in the stogie. Uptight about tobacco, but you don't have redneck d-bag cops trying to run you down for a harmless bag of dope. At least not in the more populated areas.I love visiting LA, I always have a blast when I'm down there. But it takes a certain type of person to live there.

You don't here either for the most part. I actually love California and miss it. Still beyond pissed about the smoking thing though.

The best thing about California is its diversity. Doesn't matter if you're talking about climate, physical features, cities, or the populace.

Just in "L.A." alone you have Beverly Hills, Newport, O.C., East L.A., South Central, etc etc.

If you know the right bars they still let you smoke inside. But it's a stupid law. The 2 am drinking curfew is total bull#### as well.

There are some and the casinos are still exempt. For now. I really don't smoke all that much but when I go to a bar, I want to smoke.

I agree, the more of you that stay away from CA the better off we'll be. The worst thing that can happen is when yokels and cousin kissers come here and put their couches on the porch and suck up all of this good living.

Did I mention that CA has the 9th largest economy in the world? We're a state and our economy is 9th in the world!!!

You folks are going to have to wrastle a whole bunch more alligators if you want to keep up.

We also have everything here? What do you have, a big concrete arch? WTF is that? It's like you guys were trying to make a rainbow, a rainbow of unimagination, no color, no life. Is it true that it was supposed to be a skyscraper but because no one there had finished 9th grade math that it couldn't support itself after the 6th floor and it just bent over?

In summation, please don't come here, please don't visit here, your views and beliefs are 70-80 years behind the times. You drag us down with your beliefs on abortion, religion, evolution, gay rights, the environment, the belief that this planet is 6000 years old and on and on and on and your state doesn't even have the economic muscle to warrant you even having a voice on these issues. So please, stay where you are and enjoy all of technology and progress that we provide the rest of you and shut your ####### pie holes.

Thank you and good day.

This might soung weird, but there are pockets of LA that have no problem with you smoking; Koreatown in particular. I'd say 60-70% (maybe more) of the bars and lounges are run by old school korean immigrants that started drinking and chain smoking since the age of 13. So their establishments cater to underaged asians that like to drink and smoke. But they're more than cool with mid-western catshirt wearing white guys lighting up inside.

This dude is wound waaaay too tight. Not everyone has to think and live the same way. That's why we have separate state laws.

You too, bro. Ever play the Riv? My lord.
No...it's on my list.
Plush, my friend. We have a decent selection of public courses in town but rolling the ball on those greens is a pleasure.
Let me know if you want a nice discount at Maderas, Trump National or any of the resorts in Palm Springs. PM me anytime.

Appreciate it. Funny. someone in our foursome had just played the trump course. Said it's a crazy tough track. Same place where the last 3 holes fell into the ocean before it was trump? any idea?

I am a Native Californian, and it's funny that the Natives in California will drive around with bumper stickers with "NATIVE" on the back fender. :lmao:

Seriously, the North (Norte mayne!) rules. #### Smell-A.

I've heard that story before, but can't remember what the course used to be called.

I spend a lot of time driving on the freeways in California (both Southern and Northern). I have never seen a single car with that on it.

Gotta love NoCal people. You guys spend a lot of time hating L.A. (and SoCal).

Screw Cali. Why all the hate for Illinois?
In the top 3-5 for worst budget situations. In the top 3-5 for concentration of illegals. Miserably corrupt government - most governors in recent history end up behind bars. Rahm. Taxes shooting up, so businesses are fleeing the place. There's a tad to dislike.

Some others - an email I read in response to Rahm's new push on gun laws suggested we're the only state in the nation that doesn't have conceal and carry laws. The unconstitutional gun laws that we had previous to the whole DC ruling. The new speed trap money grab. The ultra liberal smoking laws. Basically if you're conservative, Chicago is slowly rotting the entire state to you.

That's a good explanation for why people who live here don't like the place. But other than all of our governors going to jail, I don't see it being an influence to out-of staters. And surprisingly, Rahm's been decent so far.

Check it out Christo, L Ron Hubbard (Nebraska). Authors of Prop 8 (Not a single one born in CA) although they did manage to find 265k homophobes to get it on the ballot and then another few million to pass it, even though it's unconstitutional.

First, I am conservative. New here?Second, conservatives who live in Chicago have to accept they aren't going to be catered to by anyone politically. Cost of doing business.Third, so far Rahm hasn't been half bad given he's a pinko commie Obama-ite.

Guess I'll just have to disagree. I'm among those looking to flee this place, and Rahm being a pinko isn't helping, but have to wait for a better time because of my crappy house buying timing.

There's a lot of dirty, nasty places in this town so I get it, too. I had to make the drive on side streets from the west side to downtown this morning and I would hate this city too if I had to see that every day. Avoiding the traffic here is huge and people who come and think the 405 or the 10 is the best way to get around probably end up hating this place.

The house buying timing thing also highlights another point - California may suck but at least they have no recourse mortgages. Another reason to hate Illinois even more than them.
