This is the way the game should be played.."Old Time Football" Three yards and a cloud of rubber dust from field turf. Field position, punters pinning the other team deep in their own ends..establish the ground game.

This is the 80th time since 1960 a team has won with fewer than 30 net passing yards.

You really think this game was an example of how football should be played? This was a terrible display of ineptitude, and frankly would've been considered a sub-par game even if it were played in the special olympics.

Man, it was cool of Otis to beat my Bengals in such fashion!

Far be it for me to correct Chase, but from that box score it looks like the Bills actually attempted 2 passes in that win against the Jets with the 45 mile-per-hour winds.

This was a famous game in Bengals history as it is the won where Corey Dillon broke Jim Brown's record for rushing yards in a game

On the subject of the Cleveland-Buffalo game I was commenting on how ugly the game was to one of my co-workers and noted that it was that rare game where a punter was basically had won the game and was amused (and a bit pleased) to see that the first article I read on the game prominently noted Zastudil's heroics in the first sentence in the article :D

Zastudil is the stud of all stud punters

BUMP

Sorry, didn't know where else to put this question:

Packers legend Jim Taylor was a Pro Bowl selection in 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963 & 1964.

He was an All-Pro in 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 & 1966.

How can you be selected as an All-Pro and fail to make the Pro Bowl?

This was very common in the pre-merger era. Ray Nitchscke, for example, made one Pro Bowl in his career but was twice named a first-team All-Pro.Remember that "All-Pro" is shorthand for Associated Press all-pro selections. The AP isn't the only source that nominates an All-Pro team, and it was much less prestigious decades ago. The AP is just one source made up of its group of people with the same biases and flaws as other groups of people.

On second thought, it looks like you're not talking about AP all-pros. Taylor was a 1st-team All-Conference selection by TSN and a 2nd-team All-NFL pick by the UPI.

In any event, Sayers, **** Bass and Dan Reeves look to be the class of the NFC that year. By '66, Taylor was just about done.

Thanks Chase. I was hoping you'd see this thread.

Yep, I'm actually reading a book on Lombardi's Packers as we speak. Taylor's last season with Green Bay was when they won Super Bowl I in 1966. The following year, after he played out his option, Taylor signed with the Saints. He was a hometown hero who played at LSU. After one forgetful season with New Orleans, he retired.

Not taking anything away from Zastudil, but Phil Dawson performed a few miracles in that game.
