Accoring to MFL he DID practice Friday."(KFFL) Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (knee) participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10. He is expected to play in the team's Week 6 game"Probably read the same thing I did: Didn't practice Friday--the one thing I saw said it was more of a precautionary thing. Officially listed as questionable, but expected to play.
Still, I don't like the idea of him (and Roy who also missed Fri.) missing out on reps with the new QB.
I have not seen anything by Cotsonika for the last 2 days, so I'd like to know where KFFL got their information from. The Free Press (who Cotsonika writes for), along with the other local paper, and Tom Kowalski, all report that Calvin and Roy both missed practice Friday.Accoring to MFL he DID practice Friday."(KFFL) Nicholas J. Sounds like a mayoral campaign slogan. Appropriate timing with the special election coming up to replace Kwame.I like Orlovsky. Hope they give him a real chance. Its obvious Kitna isn't/wasn't getting it done, even if/when he is healthy.Orlovsky to Johnson - A New Horizon in Detroit
Its sad, Im actually going against the cheatsheets and putting in Colston over Calvin this week.I never thought I'd say this, but man, do I ever wish Culpepper was playing ball again. I drafted Calvin fully expecting Kitna to be Kitna, lots of INTs and a healthy smattering of TDs. This whole QB/team/management implosion is sucking the life out of this beautiful fantasy asset. Not even the Federal Reserve can bailout this mess. The only nice thing I can say about Dan Orlovsky is that he was recently reunited with his biological mother after they had been separated for 22 years. A nice, touching story, but doesn't do anything to help out our boy Calvin.Would Jeff George please pick up the white courtesy phone...??
I don't know if I'm expecting a "big" game from this guy. It's difficult to do that considering the situation with the Lions, but I can see how he could possibly see well over ten targets, a decent amount of yards, and the possibility of a touchdown. The Lions can't be going into this game thinking they will have any success running the football, and with the reports A. Borberly posted in the "Calvin Johnson is Ready to Blow Up" thread all signs are pointing to the coaching staff making a concerted effort to get the ball to their best player. The ball is going to be in the air quite a bit in this one and I have to think Calvin will be a major part of the game plan. The only thing giving me pause right now is the lack of practice reps with Orlovsky. Its sad, Im actually going against the cheatsheets and putting in Colston over Calvin this week. :(I never thought I'd say this, but man, do I ever wish Culpepper was playing ball again. Our team is looking like playing both Calvin and Marques along with Torry 3-0 start is now 3-2 with Westbrook ailing and McNabb being McNabb...again rolleyes C'mon Calvin, C'mon Lions do somethingI don't know if I'm expecting a "big" game from this guy. Its sad, Im actually going against the cheatsheets and putting in Colston over Calvin this week. I'm also betting against the cheatsheets, and putting LColes in over Cal. I need to see how Orlovsky pans out first before I stick Cal in there. Cal's been progressively declining each week.I never thought I'd say this, but man, do I ever wish Culpepper was playing ball again. that, and Orlovsky continually LOCKED on ROY last week when in the game. through the first 3 weeks, calvin looked like a 3rd or 4th round steal, now I'm wishing I'd have gone RB2 and waited a round or so for Jennings or Roddy.very scared about the next month or so.I don't know if I'm expecting a "big" game from this guy. He did lock on Roy, as the 18 targets would indicate, but Williams dropped five balls, and there were reports coming out of Lions camp suggesting that the coaching staff was going to make Calvin more of a focal point in the offense. It's an interesting situation. Especially after how the offense looked last week. If Orlovsky can complete a few of the 40+ passing attempts he's going to make Calvin could have a pretty solid game.that, and Orlovsky continually LOCKED on ROY last week when in the game. through the first 3 weeks, calvin looked like a 3rd or 4th round steal, now I'm wishing I'd have gone RB2 and waited a round or so for Jennings or Roddy.very scared about the next month or so.I don't know if I'm expecting a "big" game from this guy.
