Can anyone help me with a CAD file? (1 Viewer)

I’m building a garage and I got a youtuber to send me his files but I dont have or am familiar with the CAD program he used. (Solidworks - file extension is .SLDASM)

Note: I tried to use solid works free trial but it didn’t work for me. I’m not the best at computers and my computer is junk so maybe it’s a combination of the two. 

I can happily paypal you $$$ to help. I’m not even sure what I’m asking of you other than maybe if you can open and make them viewable and printable for me? If that’s not possible maybe print them and mail hard copies to me? I am only looking to use the printed out files as drawing for the permit office. 

If that’s not reasonable can you suggest an alternative?

Not sure if this will work but you could try selecting the file and doing a save-as and saving as a pdf.

Google says my Autocad can import Solidworks files...so I can if dawg hasn't helped already.

Dawg is working on it but at first attempt it didnt work. Im not building this until the spring so Ill wait for him to get back to me.

Yea, the solidworks file didn't open in Rhino or Fusion360. @Eggs might be best bet for he has Solidworks.

I did download edrawings per @UncleZen suggestion as was able to view the first drawing so unsure what is going on.

I don't use SW much any more, but if he only sent you the assembly file (SLDASM), you may need access to all of the individual part files (SLDPRT) that are used in the assembly.

Ask him to export the file into another format that could be used by free programs.  Maybe DXF or IGS.

Ask him to export the file into another format that could be used by free programs.  Maybe DXF or IGS.

I’m not incredibly knowledgeable with this stuff but solidworks website and trial versions were super janky. Creating an account wasn’t even smooth.
