Can fee public wifi drain your cell phone battery at different rates? (1 Viewer)

I have recently noticed a place I am frequently using the free public wifi which is provided by the business.  The free public wifi there seems to be draining my cell phone battery faster than my home wifi or any other free wifi I am logged into.  Is all wifi created equal (not upload/download speed) in terms of how much battery your phone is using to be logged in?  For what it is worth, I have a Droid Turbo.
