Can someone explain how holds are scored (1 Viewer)

I have Addison Reed who came in bottom of the 7th with a 3-1 lead. He recorded the last out of the 7th, got the first 2 outs in the 8th and was taken out for Thorton who got the final out of the 8th. Didn't get awarded with a hold so I'm not really sure how they work.

He got the hold.The way they're scored is if a reliever comes in a situation which would count as a save situation and leaves with the lead, he gets a hold. It's the only lead-dependant stat that a pitcher can get without their team ultimately winning the game.

Yeah, woke up this morning and it looks like Yahoo finally gave him credit for the hold.
