  • 4.99 HD pack (love me Palladia)

  • $5 off for 3 months

13 receivers? Do you live in a sports bar?

I just called and got $40 off per month, 3 months free movies & free ST. Took less than 10 minutes. Thanks guys!
and the gift card?
I thought that was off the table?
Only if you don't want one.
lol

What do I have to do? I'm sure it has been posted a million times. Sorry.
Call them. Say you were told you were getting a $200 gift card and a link would appear on your rebate page on the directv site but it's not there.

I also thought the gift card was off the table... I was waiting for it to be reinstated before taking care of this for my mother.

Gift card back on?

It's all been discussed. You can still get it, it just may take an extra call to say you were told you'd be getting a link to the rebate form and it's not there.

Did an online chat and got the form for the $200 GC sent to me. The only issue may be it says I need to send a copy of my final bill with the cancellation fee on it. I haven't received my last months bill yet...

This is what happens when you don't pick up the phone.
Up in the air, they said they would call me.

They actually billed me today for a full month even though I had a cancellation date of 6/22. <_<

Made the call this past Saturday, set disconnect for 2 weeks out. They called me abt an hour ago. $53.00 off/12 mos, $200.00 gift card, 3 mos HBO/ST/Cinemax. Would not budge on ST pricing, said since I've had it comped last three years it wasn't available. Was thinking about calling back again tomorrow to go for it, but I'll disconnect ST Max for now and when the missus and I move in a few weeks we'll call in the Movers' Deal to get the package comped in our new home.

NICE.

After finalizing a deal with DTV yesterday w/o GC, I called this morning (877.250.4624) and said, "I was told I was getting a $200 gift card and a link would appear on my rebate page on the directv site but it's not there".

She was confused, tried to help and sort of opened up to say that a GC hasnt been offered by this department in a few weeks.

I pressed, said this means Im going to Comcast with Comcast's $250 GC....and she was very apologetic to the point where I believe she would have added the GC if it was an option for her, but said it's just not offered now and offered to have the actual person I spoke to yesterday call back. I declined the call back of course saying that I was making the final decision right now.

So

So call again. All reps are not created equal. Say that you stopping the cancellation was contingent on the GC and if it's not forthcoming then you want to set up cancellation again. Put the cancellation date out a couple of weeks and call in again in a few days.

on the phone now looking to score exactly this but with ST as well

ugh, she is calling me back tomorrow morning and has me set up to be disconnected at midnight tonight so I can get the best deal.

now telling me that if your disconnect date is not 24/48 hours away that some accounts don't show any offers :wall:
the script contains provisions for this situation.

You may get turned down for "not being in their system" yetIf that is the case, ask if they can get you added to the system

No matter what they say, call back in 48 hours or so and try again

In your situation you need to speak with someone else. Each rep is different. Some are clueless, some do whatever they can to fix the problem. It's actually in the script. If what you do doesn't work, hang up and try a few days later. New offers come all the time and the GC could be easier tomorrow than it was today. Or maybe you'll just get lucky and speak to a better rep. You need a deft touch as well. I'd like to hear the tapes of some of these calls. The nicer you are the more they'll want to help you. I feel like some of you guys call and just grunt random phrases into the phone.

True, though the working theory that deals get sweeter close in; i.e. 24-48 hours from disconnect, seems to be an increasingly important component.

Sounds like a rep making stuff up because they don't know how to work the system yet. And if you're account isn't in the system when you call that 877 number then ask them to put you in the system. it's all been laid out already and these developments are not new.

ugh, she is calling me back tomorrow morning and has me set up to be disconnected at midnight tonight so I can get the best deal.
Exactly what i had to do. Was back on by 10am the next day with a new deal in place.
I was told she could see that U qualified, but couldn't see the deals, so suggested I disconnect at midnight and call back at 9am the next day. I called at 9:30 and the deals were there. I also had an email wanting me back. By 10am I was back up and running.

Disconnects trigger the deals.

shockingly they never called me back this morning and my directtv has been off since midnight. I'm asking for 53 off for 12 months, 3 months free hbo/st/max, free ST and the 200 gift card or I'm not rejoining since my kids have been home all day and not even noticed that we don't have tv.

ok just got 43 off for 12 months, free st max with retentions. Then they told me to call the 800 number and ask for other offers, so I asked about the mail in rebate for the $200 gift card and scored that :banned: I'm now working with them for the 3 months free movie channel and 10 dollars off for direct bill pay.

ok, no other discounts but she said to call back on Monday since I just reactivated and they have free movies anyways this month! Time to go buy a stamp and put this in the mail :towelwave:

also for those of you that didn't get the gift card I would call right now to 800-531-5000, say bill then press 0. Tell them you were told you would get the mail in rebate form in your rebate center online but it hasn't shown up. The lady helping me said "let me see, oh yeah you should have gotten it. Ok, I just loaded it in there, now all you have to do is print it out and mail it in." I repeat, I just called retentions this morning and set back up my account and I still got the 200 gift card from the 800 number.

Wonder if a person cancelled today, if they could still make the call like you did and get the gift card.....

probably since I cancelled tuesday and disconnected wednesday.

For the people saying they were declined the ST Max due to having it free for the past few years I would not give up. I have not paid for the ST Max for the past 4 years and still got it again this year.

Cancellation date was coming up. Called in a took the $43 off and free sunday ticket. Still a little annoyed I didn't call in a week earlier and get the gift card.

I did harass them pretty good for a gift card today, no dice....
Go onto a chat online with a rep, explain to them that in recent contact with their loyalty dept and were given several things to stick around, you were told that in a day or two you could go onto directv.com/rebates and a form will pop up to receive a 200,00 GC in the mail but nothing is popping up. THats what I did.
On it, I will try that. what the heck

Thanks!
I finally just did this online chat thing today. Supposedly they are sending me an email with the gift card info.

I had to improvise. They told me too late for GC and I made it happen anyway. Others are now reaping the benefit of my improvisation.

Whoa. Just got an email for a form with a different gift card offer. This one has different offer number, different p.o. box and says will get the card in 4-6 weeks, as opposed to the 8-12 weeks for the other card. I got a different email this morning saying my card was in the mail for the other offer. Go for 2? Separate offers?

I think its the same offer. The email offer I called on originally to reupp after cancelling said 8-12 weeks, the lady on the phone when I reupped said 4-6 weeks, it was in my hands 1 week exactly.

It's a different offer number. The other offer form said 8-12 weeks. This says 4-6. i know those wait times are inflated, just pointing out that this is not the same form I mailed in. Also odd that just a few hours after receiving the "your card is in the mail" email, I get another email saying here's an "update about your gift card" with a link to another form to mail in.
