Nice to hear RJS113, I just set up the cancel for midnight tonight as my last discounts went off yesterday. You said you just got off the phone with them, did they call you or did you call them and if so, what number did you call?
When you called to cancel, did you have them cut it immediately or set up a time? When you told them to cancel did you get any offers then? I had a Loyalty Specialist offer me $55 off my bill for 12 months. I asked about ST Max, Gift Card and movie stations. Pushed a little harder, he went back to his manager and said ST only and if wanted Max it would be additional $99. Politely declined and set it up for tonight at midnight. Waiting to do the next step.
So just want to know if you called them or they called you, or did you get an email with a number to call? Also, was your service actually disconnected? Thanks in advance for your reply.
I had them cancel it immediately, but it didn't end up getting cancelled until the middle of the night (it was still on when I went to bed). When I cancelled, I was asked if I would be interested in keeping DTV for a lower price. I said, "It would depend on the price, but I'm in a rush, so I don't have time to go back and forth on different offers. So make me your absolute best offer, and I'll give you a yes or no". He offered me $40 off per month, with no mention of free HBO, Sunday Ticket, or a gift card. I declined, and had him proceed with the cancellation. They sent me a confirmation email that it was cancelled at 5am this morning.
This morning I called 866-284-2816. This is how the conversation went:
Me: Hello. I just received a voicemail saying to call this number. Something about an exclusive offer.
DTV: Someone must have called you to let you know what offers are available for you. Would you like to hear them?
Me: Sure, why not?
DTV: I see you had one receiver, and the Choice package. I can give you the same Choice Package for $65 per month, with free Sunday Ticket Max.
Me: Does that include HBO?
DTV: I can probably give you free HBO, let me go check.
Me: Can you also see if you can give me Choice for $50 per month instead of $65?
DTV: Sure. (Puts me on hold for a minute or two). Ok, so I'm able to give you 6 months of HBO for free, and the Choice package for $56 per month.
Me: A friend of mine said something about a gift card. Is that a promotion you're still doing?
DTV: The $200 Visa gift card? Yeah, I can give you that too.
Me: So to confirm, it's $56 per month (plus tax) for the Choice package, free Sunday Ticket Max, free HBO for 6 months, and a $200 Visa gift card.
She said yes, and I accepted. Then she just read over the terms and conditions and told me where to go to claim the gift card.
