With Wednesday's report that Armanti Edwards will serve as Carolina's emergency quarterback, the Panthers now have nothing but rookies on the QB depth chart. Has that ever happened to an NFL team before?
It's rare enough that a team ends up with 2 rookie quarterbacks, but 3??
Answering my own question: it hasn't happened since the strike year of 1987, when several teams employed 3 quarterbacks who could be considered "rookies" (i.e., never been on an NFL roster before).
The Bears actually had 4 rookie QBs on their roster that season, although not all of them were with the team at the same time. The Bengals actually had 3 rookie quarterbacks play in the same game (a 34-0 loss to the Browns). None of those QBs ever played in the NFL again.
