Carson Palmer (1 Viewer)

I was WASTED watching the game last night, but from what I remember, Carson Palmer looked like a top 15 QB in the league again. His throws had zip, the ball placement was good, his anticipation was good, and he had a great rapport with Denarius Moore after only a couple weeks. Anyone else have any thoughts?

He looks very good. He looks very good physically, which you could even see the week before making some terrific throws.

With those young hungry weapons, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a lower half QB1 (12 team league) season or two.

He's got a real good line ahead of him that's giving him time. And he looks rejuvenated with the change of scenery.

I'm psyched as well, and think with the move Palmer should be every-week playable. Oakland's running game will allow him to set up well, and Ford and Moore play right into his style and strengths. I had already cast my die picking up Tebow to complement Romo; when Palmer was traded I went ahead and snaked him too. It's really tightened up my options but I'm optimistic that I'll have good play for the rest of the season so long as the squad remains healthy. It'll just be a nightmare playing matchups between three who might all be QB1's over the rest of the season. Obviously I'd be open to trade but I don't think any of my leaguemates have any desperate needs there with the short rosters we carry.

He was a competent starter last year too. But because the Bengals were 4-12 and he faced a brutal schedule not many people realized it. Almost dead on average in NFL terms.

The 1/2 he played vs KC, and the following start, you could tell his timing with WRs was off, his reads were a bit slow and that he wasn't doing a pro QB workout during his time off. The positives you could see, were that his arm/elbow had recovered to at least 90% of what it was and that he wasn't overly sensitive about guys on the ground around his feet/knees. Those were his two biggest questions regarding his ability to be a high-end NFL QB for the remainder of his career, and I think he's answered them in an impressive manner. He will continue to improve timing with practice, and will get more and more comfortable with his reads as the playbook becomes 2nd nature rather than an effort to remember between breaking the huddle and taking the snap.

He makes better throws than any QB I've seen in Oakland with the exception of Gannon (too young to have seen pre-90's QBs). Oakland scored big with this one, and what was generally viewed as a butt-raping by Cincy initially, could very well be a win-win deal. I think he is still a very good NFL QB, and should be a borderline #1 FFB QB. I still think Oakland will put an emphasis on it's running game, and big passing numbers will likely come from necessity rather than habit, so I doubt he ever sniffs top 3 for a season which is where value lies in fantasy. If you landed him as a backup or replacement, you should be sitting pretty whether redraft or dynasty.

I had thought his arm was shot, but I was pleasantly surprised. He certainly looks the part again, hopefully he can keep it up.

He's an excellent sell high candidate. He is doing well right before many trade deadline's in fantasy football, if there's an owner out there that looks like he needs a QB with some decent depth on his team, I'd sell Palmer.

In the flip side, if you're a gambler, you could keep Palmer and trade your stud QB away for another stud player if you're weak at RB or WR.

I'm still not convinced. He's been mediocre at best for so long it's hard to buy-in just because he had one good game.
