I just heard on KTCK Dallas Radio that Cowboys traded for Mat Cassell. No link yet
I think ur right....jerry seems to think weedens got an arm of goldCassel is an inexpensive plan B for a team that needed something behind Weeden who may be a better play if Weeden struggles. I don't really see this as anything to shake Weeden's confidence.
What other choice do they have? Signing some kind of veteran was an absolute must. They have to push for the playoffs. If they were a bad team they could just roll with those 2 guys.Huge confidence blow for Weeden. Tells you what Dallas thinks of him and K. Moore.
He was the only one. Nothing to do with confidence.Huge confidence blow for Weeden. Tells you what Dallas thinks of him and K. Moore.
I thought Kellen Moore was the third QBYou guys know they Cowboys didn't have a backup to Weeden, right? This is insurance only.

He was on the practice squad. I have no idea why he's on the team. One of the local media guys said Moore helped put his bag in the overhead compartment and was legitimately concerned Moore was going to hurt himself. They said he looks more like an equipment guy.I thought Kellen Moore was the third QBYou guys know they Cowboys didn't have a backup to Weeden, right? This is insurance only.
Moore couldn't beat out Dan Orlovsky for a backup role in Detroit. Cassell is a veteran that can take over if Weeden doesn't work out.I thought Kellen Moore was the third QBYou guys know they Cowboys didn't have a backup to Weeden, right? This is insurance only.
I know Moore's history. Steadymobbin mistakingly said that Dallas didn't have a backup to Weeden. So I corrected him. I also think that by rushing out so fast to trade for another QB, the Cowboys have sent a message to Weedon regarding their confidence in him. I do think it was a good move by them. Cassell is much better than Weeden. Just not sure why Dallas didn't have a good backup in place knowing Romo's injury history.Moore couldn't beat out Dan Orlovsky for a backup role in Detroit. Injury History? Romo gets hurt like everyone else. He also plays through it more often than not. It's one of those things he does as a former UDFA.JuniorNB said:I know Moore's history. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that "some around the league believe it's only a matter of time" before Matt Cassel supplants Brandon Weeden as the Cowboys' starter.
This isn't a shock at all. The Cowboys have very little confidence in Weeden, no matter that they were saying publicly this past week. The only reason Cassel isn't starting now is because he doesn't know the playbook. Weeden hasn't won a game as a starting quarterback since December 2012. The Cowboys will have to piece this together for the next two months while Tony Romo (clavicle) is out.

Good God, it sounds like it was written by Cassel's agent.Rotoworld:

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports it is "highly likely" QB Matt Cassel is the Cowboys' starter following the Week 6 bye.
Coach Jason Garrett conceded he was considering a quarterback change following the loss to the Patriots, and there has been speculation since Dallas acquired Cassel that Brandon Weeden was just a placeholder. The bye affords a perfect opportunity for Dallas to make the switch. It would be surprising if Cassel is not the starter Week 7 against the Giants.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team switched to Matt Cassel because he is more aggressive than Brandon Weeden.
"Weeden was so conservative, he was coached to be conservative to a degree, but he was not taking chances with that ball," Jones said. "Now, we know you can’t make plays if you don’t take some chances. So, we’ll see more of that." Weeden attempted deep passes on just over 10 percent of his throws according to Pro Football Focus, but the Cowboys' lack of receiving talent certainly did not help Weeden make plays. Cassel should get Dez Bryant (foot) back early in his tenure, and Bryant's return will ultimately play a bigger role than his aggressiveness in whatever success Cassel finds.

By the time Dez is back, Romo should be back.I've seen plenty of Cassel to know that he's average to subpar. But I can't remember his style. Isn't he a dunker and a dunker with no downfield passing? Will Dez have any value with Cassel?
Hey Jerry shut the #### up....seriously. I thot weeden hung the moon? Now he was coached to be lame? WhateverRotoworld:

A source tells ESPN's Ed Werder that Matt Cassel will start Saturday night, but is "on a short leash."
This doesn't come as a surprise after Kellen Moore got some first-team reps this week. Cassel has held the entire offense back in his six starts, completing 59.2 percent of his passes with a 5:6 TD/INT ratio. The Cowboys will turn to Moore if Cassel's struggles continue against the Jets.
