Category expectations (1 Viewer)

I don't want this to be customized for just my league so if others want to post reasonable expectations for other leagues feel free. I am inquiring because of a 16 teamer I have joined.

It's my first league greater than 12 teams this season, our draft just began. I was wondering if anyone had any numbers for reasonable goals for each cat for the draft. I really like my 1.08 pick of Holliday and his 4.5 cat goodness, just wondering so I have an idea of what I should be shooting for cat-wise by the end of the draft. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I can answer for a 19-teamer with 10 hitters and 7 pitchers per lineup if that will help. Let me know and I can dig up category winners for the last few years. You can then maybe inflate each category by x amt for the 3 less owners in your league....or just deflate your normal expectations by x amt for the 6 more owners you are used to. that is what I had to do the first year I got into a bigger league....it sucked.

That would help immensely, I could try to find some balance between my 12 teamer's in years past and your 19 teamer. I have some very loose expectations doc'd, but I am not confident in them whatsoever. Thanks!

If this is an existing league, just ask the commish for last year's standings. Each league is different, has different rules etc.

Otherwise there is a ton of information for 15 team leagues that you could modify slightly.

Only one year of data and two guys absolutely dominated the league last year. These two seemed to hit every mid round sleeper and every late round steal, looking at last year's standings were not funny. Seriously, every Ryan Braun, BJ Upton, Corey Hart, Troy Tulowitzki, Fausto Carmona, etc. ended up on these two teams...and they were all drafted! So, I think it's safe to say going based off last year's numbers wouldn't help me too much :lmao: .

Sorry it took so long, but maybe it would help someone else....

Last year here were the winning totals (top 3 places) by category in a mixed 5x5, 20 teamer -

(so you know 1 C, 1 1b, 1 2b, 1 3b, 1 ss, 1 ut (non OF), 4 OF, 7 P)

AVG - .2863, .2821, .2819

HR - 235, 226, 221

R - 829, 825, 798

RBI - 812, 811, 808

SB - 136, 118, 117

W - 84, 80, 78

Saves - 116, 90, 85

K - 1135, 956, 922

ERA - 3.1409, 3.5588, 3.6377

WHIP - 1.2016, 1.2070, 1.2163

For my 5x5 16 teamer c/1b/2b/3b/ss/mi/ci/5 of/util/9 pitchers (1600 ip limit) I ended up using.288 AVG275 HR1175 R1125 RBI175 SB95 W3.7 ERA1.25 WHIP1300 K75 SVLooks like I may need to adjust my WHIP goal downward, HR goals upward, and avg downward. I am looking good in all pitching cats except for SVs, my team has a ton of speed and could hit closer to 300 than 285 but my power sure is lacking. Probably going to need to swing a May/June deal, depending on how my wildcards (Colby Rasmus, Felix Pie, Joey Votto, and Brandon Wood) pan out. Thanks for the data, it may be a bit late for draft purposes but it will definitely help in-season.

Yeah, again I apologize for the delay - I had forgotten i had promised to provide the data and then remembered it last night. Didn't want to renege on a promise.

Basically you have 1 extra OF, an extra mi and and extra ci...plus 2 extra Ps....so your numbers are going to be slightly higher asnyway theoretically not to mention 4 less teams - so i think your numbers look pretty good.

ANyone have the expectations for mixed 10 or 12 team leagues with more "standard" roster makeups (with regards to ML rosters)

ie

C/1B/2B/3B/SS/OF/OF/OF/UT/UT?
