CBS blind bid waivers (1 Viewer)

Hello, we are looking to migrate from MFL to CBS because a lot of the current owners weren't happy with the old looking MFL site and their slow live scoring. Anyhow, the one advantage of MFL is that we were able to handle waivers exactly how we wanted. We had a blind bid process that ran wednesday night and then after that it was free for all pick ups up until the morning Sunday games started (players that played on thursday would be locked until the next weeks blind bid went through). Is it possible to set up something similar to this on CBS?

Thanks

This is a problem in our CBS league, looking to see if there is a solution I havent researched. We want FAAB to run Wednesday thru Saturday, Sunday a $1-5 fee

I just checked their video tutorial on FAAB's and it does not appear emergency transactions are possible:

http://www.cbssports.com/video/player/nfl_fantasy_support

Heres the response from CBS:

"Unfortunately, when using the FAAB system, it is the only method of acquiring free agents -- hence, the name: Free Agent Acquisition Budget. When the system is on, it’s on at all times. Normal add/drops by teams will not be possible. There have been requests for a kind of hybrid system that you describe, but I don't foresee its inclusion any time soon. However, I will forward along your comments to our producers of this product and maybe this is something that may come to pass in the seasons ahead.

Thank you for continuing to make CBSSports.com your Fantasy destination. Please reply to this email should you have additional concerns or more details to provide for updating your question.

Have a great season,
Commish Tom"

CBS does not support Blind-Bidding (with FAAB) then FCFS. This is impossible.

Once you have selected FAAB/Blind-Bidding as the Waivers means, the only option is to toggle the nights you wish it to run. It may run once a week to every night, but Sunday transactions for last minute activations/de-activations are impossible unless manually processed by the Commish, somehow. Clumsy at best.

CBS does not allow for the tracking of future draft picks, either. These must be entered as 'Custom transactions', requiring a LOT of work from the Commish. Even then, a subsidiary document tracking the picks on the whole must be crafted and maintained separate to the site.

Lastly, at the time of their updates and rollovers (of which there are two or three a year), Custom data is often lost, sometime wholly, sometimes partially.

Their live scoring is admittedly unmatched...but it's little compensation for paying all that dough for a crappy product.

What kind of custom data are you talking about? I haven't lost anything (at least none that I am aware of).

THIS.

You would think with the demand for this capability they would add it, but they appear to be tone deaf.

Lmao at leaving a great site just cuz its a little ugly and then goto CBS. Talk about ### backwards. CBS does not handle that and thats why ill never leave mfl. I dont play fantasy football to look at pretty sites.

Can't believe there isn't a coder or software designer in America that can't figure this out.

Hell, with the money one would save by going from CBS to MFL anyone who wants a customized site could get it their first year and be set for years of saving money with a better service AND have pretty sites. *Feel free to PM me if that interests you.*

Whether you use a free site, MFL (with or without customization), RTS or quit playing fantasy football entirely you will be making a better choice for your league than using CBS.

They really are that bad.

Fleaflicker can do this, and if one finds their live scoring inadequate I think you should go outside and contemplate your existence.

If you run a Dynasty league on CBS, future picks are tracked with the 'Add Custom Transaction' feature. These are simply hand-typed notes into the Transactions page(s). When CBS 'rolls over' for data archiving, new season launch, or upgrades to the software/interface, these Custom Transactions have been known to disappear. Happened to me several times in multiple leagues. Luckily I was tracking in duplicate on a hand-drawn draftboard at home.

CBS has proven time and again to be more trouble than its worth.

Okay. We are a redraft league that has been on CBS for a long time and still have data from 2001.

For dynasty or leagues with complex rules I could see the need to switch but for us CBS does everything we need and does it pretty well. Our league is comprised of old men that are uncomfortable with change so unless CBS goes belly-up I don't see us moving.
