CBS just crashed (1 Viewer)

I realize that, I'm just saying other sites have the same services as sportsline at a much cheaper price. It's been 5 years since I've been in a league that uses Sportsline and I still get emails from them all the time.
You can unsubscribe at the bottom of every CBS email, sport:
If you do not want to receive CBS SportsLine.com Product, Contest and Service Updates e-mails you can unsubscribe at: http://ww1.sportsline.com/links/click.cgi?...il=xxxxxxxxxxxx

After using MFL, I can't see one single reason to use CBS or any other site to play. MFL is clearly the best site out there.

Every MFL site I've ever seen has looked like it was designed by a ######ed monkey with one eye and no thumbs. Seriously, they are so poorly designed they make my eyes bleed. Just terrible. Everytime I see one a little part of my soul dies. I'll stick with CBS, thanks.

You guys should simply KNOW this by now as we cover this every year.........SPORTSLINE SUCKSHigher Fees (MUCH), Less functionality, More bugs
while i can see the arguments for functionality, etc i really can't stand the whole higher fees point. seriously, $5 per team per year is essentially two slices of pizza and a coke, less than a decent six pack.
I think his point is you can get a much better site for the same price or a little cheaper. If the league is shelling out money for a website, it should work flawlessly. MFL is around $70 for the year and it blows CBS sportsline out of the water. It has live scoring, league history, etc. Not only that they don't constantly spam you with emails like Sportsline does.
Point taken. i actually find MFL to be way too cartoonish for me. I know you can customize it, but this is fantasy football, not intro to web design.

A little sensitive about CBS Sportsline bashing are we, chief?

No, I'm sensitive to poor design. I couldn't care less about CBS. :pics:

I've been using Yahoo for years. Never any problems and its FREE. What do the pay sites offer you that yahoo doesn't? Besides terrible FF advice I mean. I used the money I saved for a membership here.

Congrats  Great job by You.I know it's fun to enter a thread like this and pile on with the "Why are you Guys such Idiots" for still using CBS posts - Which doesn't really solve our problem...Listen some leagues have been on CBS for many years and CBS has a history of all that data that some people like to look at....... Other leagues have people who are used to CBS and stick with it...That's all..... But, I commend you.

Whoa I didnt call anyone an idiot, and I honestly wanted to know what pay sites offered above and beyond Yahoo since thats all I've ever used. Apparently one of those features is league histories. Yahoo has just added a similar feature this year that shows single user fantasy histories, kind of like your complete fantasy profile with little icons for whatever trophies you won. Its a new feature but they have kept track of the past 4 years or so and show your teams retroactively, and this is across all fantasy sports. What I would really like is customizable team logos, or some day maybe even a uniform editor like in Madden.

When my league switch to an online site we went to CBS (at the time it was free). When CBS started charging a fee I researched MFL, RTSports, etc, and told the league owners we could save $40-$60 bucks if we switched.

There wasn't one guy that wanted to switch. None of them thought it was worth $5 to learn a new interface they were already comfortable with and liked.

So that is why we stay on CBS. Everyone knows it, it does what we want it to do, and has worked well for us. Throw in the free Draft Kit which is probably worth $25-$30 and you are looking at $2.50 more a team.

What I don't understand is why there are so many people here that love to bash it. Why do they care what my league uses?

My league has the same issue. Everyone's already on it so no one is willing to switch. The fact that the CBS draft room nearly prevented us from having a league may finally prompt people to switch sites.

Something funny, myfantasyleagueS.com is sportsline. myfantasyleague.com is mfl.

Are you in my league? Every year I throw it out to vote & every year my guys want to stay with CBS. We hold our draft live, in person, so we've never experienced the problems some here are having. But we've rarely had any in-season problems (usually stuff like Live Scoring is wrong). Many of my leaguemates aren't the most computer literate, they're used to & comfortable with CBS, and don't mind spending the extra $$. I'd expect that 10 years from now, we'll still be there.

I don't believe Yahoo does keeper / dynasty leagues. Very important feature, lol.

love cbs, but we too always meet in person for our drafts, or use phone and or chat rooms for those few who cant make it.

3 leagues 38 owners total and we will be w/ cbs forever.

I don't know if this is your problem but CBS has the following info in their Help section:

My page is not loading. Why am I getting a blank screen, "white screen of death", when I try to access your site?

It appears that a conflict between a recent Windows update (KB918899) and Internet Explorer's capability to process Java code is responsible for this problem. Microsoft released this update on August 8th which apparently generated the issue. Here is a link to a page that identifies both the problem with the update, and points to a new release expected in the near future, which should resolve the problem.

http://uk.builder.com/webdevelopment/desig...39329977,00.htm

"Security update is crashing Internet Explorer when certain Web sites are viewed

Microsoft's security update from 8 August to Internet Explorer (IE) is causing browser trouble for some systems."

At this time, you may use FireFox or Netscape 7.2 and you should experience no difficulties while on our site. However, if you desire to use the I.E. browser, you would need to follow these steps until the corrective update is released.
I'm already using Firefox and can't get in.... so much for that :hey:

CBS was brilliant in that regard. They had 1-2 seasons with no fee.. got us hooked, all the computer donks didn't want to switch and so now we're customers for life.:brilliant!:

What I don't understand is that when I first started on Free Cbs it was a pretty good site and the draft worked just fine... I had no problems at all for a few years...Now, I'm figuring OK they are charging some money - Can't wait to see the upgrades and how much better they can make the product - I figured in 5 years or so, the Draft Room would be SICK - Crazy stuff like Highlights, maybe Voice interaction - Use your imagination, we're talking a decent Free site that morphs into a pay site with and in 5 years the changes should be great....In reality, the site has gotten WORSE - what the hell did they do with all out money? What happened to us Saturday night is inexcusable and is a disaster - I probably wouldn't have gotten into Fantasy Football if that's what the drafts were like.

I cannot still get on but an owner just did an ADD/DROP from our CBS site so that means he can get on. How can one owner get on and another cannot

Both of my leagues are down. Why won't people listen to me when I tell them to go to MFL?
Because it isn't sexy enough yet. Not saying that's a good reason. But, even the most capable commissioners can't make it look much better than a 2nd grade art project. It's just the aesthetics, and I think everyone who's an MFL fan likes to rub it in everyone else's faces about how cool they are that they're old school don't need it to look good--just want some good service. But, I do give them props. For all the #####ing and moaning about CBS and Fanball, no one ever complains about MFL. Of course, this is the same messageboard that was pimping baseballtangent.com.

We are having an even weirder problem on CBS. A few of our owners can read each other in the chat portion of the draft room, but not others. Then, a couple of more can see each other but not the other group. I put in a help request, don\'t know if it will be answered before the end of our draft. :loco:
This is why we left CBS this year, well not because of the draft room but because of the customer support.Example: We had our draft yesterday. Unbeknownst to me, without paying for the league you only get two rounds. So the draft stops, every one at the draft 12 of 14 in the room, are like WTF? I just went to the league home page and clicked on \"Live Customer Support\" and chatted with them. Had it payed for and resumed where we left off in ten minutes. Just in time for a smoke/bathroom/refill break.
We had the exact same problem. 9 owners were in one room, 3 were in another. Both groups could see the others in their group on the chat box and when they picked, but not the other group. We finally just gave up and rescheduled. My league's payment is pending (had to go old school and send it smail mail and it hasn't been processed yet)... however, we are still on the trial period... are you telling me it is going to cut us off after 2 rounds? After tonight's debacle, if the draft stops after 2 rounds tomorrow night (assuming they get the bugs worked out) the league is going to go beszerk.Yes I know CBS is notorious for lousy draft rooms but this is the first problem we've had on this scale. Might be the last if this happens tomorrow. We have a backup mock set for Antsports just in case, and then I'll just get my money back and set up a free league somehwere for this year.
I downloaded the latest JAVA from their website and went back to the draft room and everyone was there like it should be. As long as the site doesn't go down for an extended period our league will be done drafting in time. So, I guess what I am saying is get the latest JAVA and that little problem should be fixed. Thanks to whoever mentioned it.

two leagues on cbs - one with live draft next week - no problems - all day;

legaue in which draft is 35 minutes - still can't get it

WHAT CAN I DO TO GET A REFUND AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE?

Genius of them to load of the front of the draft with Defenses and Kickers......Defenses roll off the board in the 3rd round just to ensure a disaster and horrible team if 1 owner is absent....Why not just have a default of ADP????? IDIOTS

I imagine though you realize that this "We should be fine with paying more for less" economic theory would be considered a fringe one by mainstream society.

We used MFL last night, it had all kinds of problems. The draft had to eventually be stopped.

I play in leagues that are run by 3 different websites. By far I enjoy the one at CBS for a multitude of reasons, especially as stated above, the layout is not designed by retarted monkeys as is the case with MFL.

But, I thought MFL was supposed to be impervious to this kind of stuff.

I have used MFL for a few years now, and while it is not a "problem free" site, it does have stellar support! They have always been quick to answer questions and the support board is a great place to go for help as well. Since they give you the ability to adjust anything about the site you want with simple .css, you will get some funky looking sites, but you also get some amazing site design. In my opinion, you can set up a site, use a pre designed skin and you are good to go. I am not going to say that they are the best out there, they are the best for me and my taste. towards the end of the season they allow you to create a site for free and get all the functionality of what you pay for during the season. I say give it a shot.

I am still designing my banner, but you are welcome to look over my site to see if it looks too cartoony and designed by a drunk monkey.... :D
