CBS Sportsline Problems (1 Viewer)

Has anyone else out there had a problem with CBS Sportsline's draft room.

We canceled out draft because the site kept crashing, the draft rooom wouldn't refresh, the auto pilot function would turn on and off, the chat function wouldn't work, and players were missing from the draft roster (they didn't list LJ!!!)

I email CBS asking for a phone call. We've used them for 4 years, and now I want a refund. We'll probably use NFL, ESPN or Yahoo to run the league if we can get a draft slot. myfantasyleague.com looks like too much work, and I don't write code. Any suggestions?

Are we alone in experiencing these issues.?

CBS Sportsline = Constant B&% S#@t Sportsline.

I helped a friend draft using Sportsline's Draft Room a few weeks ago. It did not work very well in Firefox, but fine when I switched to Explorer. That's all I've got.

Worked fine for our draft today. I did have a problem at first, but simply clearing out my cookies solved the issue. I used IE for it, yeah. Firefox is nice, but there are still some things that it doesn't work well with.

We had our 12 team draft lat Thursday night starting at 6pm. The software would not update for our league commissioner and so he had to keep clicking to manually update. At 9 pm and the beginning of the 10th round the software completely crashed on us. We are finishing by email. We are debating on switching next year.

The draft room is the only part I've experienced some issues with Sportsline. As noted above, only works with IE and sometimes has a refreshing issue. I've seen it also blank out and no players are listed. Closing and re-opening the draft room window fixes it, but kind of annoying. Besides that though, the site is still very good.

The draft room was a disaster for us last night. Horrible updates. Server crashed on us twice.

And when it was all said and done, the "Draft Results" screen showed no draft results.... But I printed out the draft, so I see a couple of hours dedicated to keying in the draft in my future.

Added - I had problems with IE but Firefox worked for me.

We had 9 owners live and 3 drafting through the CBS draft room. Two of the three had problems at first--one was able to fix it by clearing cookies and restarting. The guy that had no issues was drafting from New Zealand. Go figure.

I commish a league on CBS, and I bought fandraft.com software for $30- expecting a probelem with CBS. It is the first year that they are offering online draft and some of the owners were all excited to draft online. Luckily I spent the extra $30. Our draft worked out fine and didn't crash. Its too bad, I enjoy the CBS site.

Drafted last night at 7:45 pm eastern and had terrible difficulties...the majority of the league is in outrage.

My group of friends and I experienced two bad drafts this weekend on CBS and one good one on Fanball. I've had several good drafts on myfantasyleague already this season. I anticipate three good drafts on Fanball or myfantasyleague.com next season unless we get money back from CBS.

The site is still having draft problems?? We gave up on using it 5 years ago.

We still play on Sportsline, but we use the MFL website to conduct our draft & then transfer the results.

You mean, there are still some sites, like CBS Sportsline, which have error-ridden, non-compliant code that they haven't tested in anything but IE on Windows.

Had the draft last night and had the same problem. The commish had to stop the draft multiple times or back track a pick because the site kept messing up. We used them for our draft only because the myfantasyleague.com was a joke. CBS was just as bad.

Point? I mean, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. It's like buying a Mac and blaming the games on the fact that they won't run on it, because they were developed for Windows. Is Mac a better OS? Possibly, but it doesn't matter if I can't run what I need to on it.

The point is that the problem is with CBS's code, not with Firefox, and thus if you can find a site with better code, you should use it. If CBS's code works on IE it's little more than coincidence.

We do our draft live, by hand, and then input the results onto CBS Sportsline, which then runs the league from there.

However, I have noticed that this year there is a HUGE permanent banner ad along the right side of the homepage. It partially obscures the Player News and My Player News updates. I love Anheuser-Busch products as much as anyone, but the location of that banner ad is annoying. I'm hoping that it will disappear once the regular season starts.

Carry on.

On going dialouge with their help center.

Live Draft Issues Discussion Thread Customer 08/29/2006 04:13 PM Maybe some sort refund for such a crappy product you put out. YOUR DRAFT SOFTWARE WAS UNNACCEPTAABLE. Our normal drafts lasts four hours. This took seven hours. Many of hour owners had to autodraft b/c of how late it was in the east coast. That are pissed b/c they have 5 kickers or 7 crappy QB's. IF WE DO NOT SEE SOME GOODWILL ON YOUR PART we will abandon your product. How hard is that to understand???? Response (Commish Corey) 08/29/2006 08:24 AM I apologize for the problems you had, but you were able to complete the draft so i am not sure what you would like us to do for you. I sent this to our programmers and they are looking into it so this problem won't happen again. Customer 08/28/2006 04:01 PM That's it. You closed my question in a 'solved' status. I would like more followup on your behalf and this question in a non 'solved' status. From other people I have spoken with other leagues drafting in cbssportsline onlive draft experienced similar 'performance' issues the same date. AGAIN, We are long time customers of CBS and feel that it has some great features that other hosting sites do not provide but we will be forced to abandon your service if we do not receive some kind of good will action on your part. The product was unacceptable. Response (Commish Corey) 08/26/2006 10:09 AM I will forward this to our programemrs so they can look into this. I apologize for the problems you had. Customer 08/24/2006 01:42 PM We had our draft last evening around 6:30pst. I would like you guys to know that your drafting product had extreme performance issues from everyone who was drafting. Your product was so bad that it took nearly seven hours for us to conduct our draft. can anyone get in there now?
bumpI haven't been able to access my league site in 3 days... anyone else having this trouble?
For several days I could not access my league site using IE. The response was that they were trying to resolve the problem but that I should get a different browser. In fact, they mentioned that many others were having problems accessing their leagues. I got Mozilla and now can access the league. They still have not resolved the issue I was having with IE.

We do our draft through the league message board (which sends email to everyone on draft picks), thus we have a bit of time between picks. This had, up until this year, solved any problems with the draft rooms people may have during a draft.

However, Sportsline's own forums crapped out on us a few times during the draft. Some people got emails from the forum posts, others did not. This lead to a lot of "dude you're over the time limit" only to get "I didn't see the guy before me draft!", and all sorts of confusion. This only worsened when later on (say round 8) we got all of the missing draft emails from rounds 2-4. It was a total mess.

i'm fine with all my sportsline leagues (*knock on wood*).I have a draft tonight at 10pm est - just tried to go into the draft room and got in OK.We'll see in a few hours.
Our league site has been up and down the last week. Sometimes logging in will give you a "techincal difficulties" page. A couple of days ago, the site came back up, but appeared to be reset, message board posts were gone, polls gone, transactions gone, etc. Then the site went completely dead again the last two days. It was up and running and working fine as of this morning. If had tried to hold a draft over the past week it would have been bad news. The guys in my league like CBS because its what we've always used. For my money, you can't beat MFL. I've used that in two other leagues. Performance issues and customer service are to a degree better an MFL.

Careful with that one....two years a go I demanded my money back and they refunded my credit card. Then the sons' a motherless goats DELETED our ENTIRE league......That said, we stayed on... :bag: We enjoy the partnership with NFL that Sportsline has and the "clickability" for stats and NFL links....Good luck my friend.

If you rearrange the "boxes" on that page, it won't do that. It happens when you have one of the wide view boxes in every column, so that it pushes everything too far to the right. Just put the stuff that is narrow on the left, and you should be fine.IE: Since our league's logo is wider than it is long, and it won't resize it, I cannot put it to the left side with all the other narrow things like my team logo. It must either go in one of the other two columns, or I can just hide it.

What do I care what the underlying code looks like if it works just fine with IE? If you want to pimp Firefox, I'm sure there are far better forums to be doing it on.

As is noted by many posters in this thread, the underlying code doesn't work just fine with IE. When the code is invalid and error-ridden, it will fail in unpredictable ways.

CBS Sportsline is the pits..every year there are complaints here about their system

Also they are very good at starting internet rumors!

"Rumors began circulating yesterday on CBS Sportsline that Henry had overtaken RB Chris Brown as the Titans' starting running back. Fisher said Wednesday, Aug. 30, that Brown was still the starter. Brown said he had not heard about the news."

I can't get into the site now!! This is the 4th year that we are using cbssportsline for our league and this is the first year there have been problems. Our draft went fine but the site has been acting strange.

Now I know why the site is always SLOW the last few days, you all are crashing it with online drafts. LOL

Seriously, we use CBS Sportsline, it works fine but it has been slow the last few days in the evening, I imagine during drafts. Glad we did a live draft. (I know not everyone is in a league that can do that)

Why is it down right now? Not many drafts going on in the middle of the day.

I was on CBS for about 4 hours yesterday, entering in all of our rosters, schedule, and making a few adjustments. No problems at all. I was able to get to our add/drop page fine a minute ago.

We tried the Live Draft for the first time this year on CBS. Our draft order was randomized every round. Not good times. We'd have to go through the entire round on cell-phones then the Commish would enter the results.

Since mid August our league has had a 50% success rate with any emails, transactions, message board postings, league communications and, well, the entire CBS homepage.

The general email I received back was that we (CBS) have a couple of our best men on it.

message board postings that are supposed to them be broadcast as emails have been spordic at best, even with baseball leagues. I've missed a few of them.

I've done a bunch of drafts on there with no problems unti last night. We experienced this same problem.

We do our draft live and then load the rosters onto CBS, so I can't comment on the drafting software. However, 97% of the time I go to use the site it operates without a problem. Guess we are lucky.
