Cecil Sapp as RB with 2nd Team in DEN (1 Viewer)

about the only negative thing you can say about Henry right now....................unpredictability

Ploy to motivate Mike Bell

From Rotoworld:

Cecil Sapp ran with the second team at Broncos Organized Team Activities.

Denver began its final minicamp of the offseason on Monday. Coach Mike Shanahan may simply be trying to motivate Mike Bell, but it's pretty clear Sapp is in the mix for a primary backup job whether he's second or third string.

I recall seeing a Cecil Sapp hilite video the year he was drafted. There was one goalline carry where he literally carried/drug 8 would be tacklers for about 3 yards and the score. Why wouldn't he get a shot a goal line duty?

Anyone think there's any chance Shanahan plays his usual RB game and we see someone else, be it Mike Bell or Sapp, become the man? Or at least take enough carries to downgrade Henry?

Hard to tell since Shanny hasn't had a #1 RB in a few years. I would like to feel secure in my trade for Henry, but being realistic I could Shanny doing almost anything. Can Sapp catch out of the backfield? Can he pass block? Can Mike B. for that matter.Hoping Henry gets 3/4 of the load but were talking sbout Shanny here, can't tell what he will do.If Henry works well shanny will ride him. On the other hand if he gets a case of the fumbes while sapp or bell has looked good he could ride pine.Such is Denver RB.

No. No RB in Denver has made as much money as Henry is making since Terrell Davis. Denver released Mike Anderson when he was scheduled to make less money than Travis Henry signed for. Denver has too much money invested in Henry for him to not become the man.

This year seems to be the clearest the Denver RB situation has been in some time. Henry is the guy, no doubt about it.

While it is highly relevant to get the handcuff right, it's essentially only important in case of injury to Henry. No more than any other good RB situation.

Agree totally. Henry is the guy, no if's and's or but's.

Henry is a great goalline runner, and one of the toughest runners in the league. He's not the type that you'll see coming out in GL situations. That's where he shines.

That was against Boulder, in Mile High, and it was a BEAUTIFUL thing. It was up the gut and it actually started around the 7. May have to dig it up...
