Cedric Benson? Bernard Scott? (1 Viewer)

I added Bernard Scott yesterday with the news of a possible Cedric Benson 3 game suspension and everyone on twitter blowing up about it for a 1 hour period.

Now someone in my league added Brian Leonard and he's actually listed #2 behind Benson on Yahoo sports. On ESPN #3.

And no one has been talking about it since, is Scott even worth a roster spot? Any updates on Benson?

I warned people to stay away. Its going to be a RBBC with Benson out.

The Bengals love Leonard more than Scott for some reason.

Benson missed two games in 2009.

@OAK

Scott 21/119 3/32

Leonard 13/36

then during the next week, they sign Larry Johnson

vs CLE

LJohnson 22/107 2/-2

Scott 18/87

Leonard 1/1 1/6

reading between the lines it's obvious that they think that Leonard is the best pass blocker of the three - hence he has the most snaps over Scott the last two weeks . . . based on that, it doesn't necessarily mean that he will get a lot of runs when Benson is out . . .

For some reason, the Bengals just don't trust / like Scott. They do appreciate Brian Leonard, who is a good receiver out of the backfield, and runs well both inside and out. He shared the workload and was unselfish enough to lead block for Ray Rice while at Rutgers - but Leonard was a very solid feature RB in his own right prior to Rice arriving in Piscataway.

The Leonard Leap will be unleashed. :football:

I think there are two reasons:1) He is more "injury prone" than Knowshon Moreno, Beanie Wells and Fred Taylor rolled into one. Even in his limited time, he has been dinged up repeatedly.2) Honestly, I just don't think he's that good. I've had him and cut him. Even as a Benson owner, I cut him. He's just a guy - a warm body that will play the position until the Bengals draft/trade for Benson's replacement.

From Rotoworld:

The Cincinnati Enquirer confirms that Bernard Scott will be the starter during Cedric Benson's suspension.

Bengals coaches don't trust Scott to hold up under a heavy workload, but he did see an average of 18.7 touches per as a three-week fill-in for Benson back in 2009. Scott is the most explosive of the Bengals backs and should be an immediate waiver grab this week.

Well it looks like this might poke a hole in the suspension.

A league source tells NFL Network's Jason La Canfora that Cedric Benson is pursuing action against NFL Players Association.

This in addition to appealing the three game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy during the lockout. Benson's main argument is that he wasn't an employee of any team during the lockout (he was a free agent), so employment rules that had Benson as one of eight "repeat offenders" should not have applied. He has an argument, as the NFLPA didn't even exist when Benson got in trouble with the law. Benson will be playing this Sunday regardless.

Okay I am completely confused. Is Benson out for today's game or does his suspension start after the appeal? I need a backup for Peyton Hillis.

He has a very very very good argument. I would be surprised if he doesn't win the appeal.

I agree. I think Benson will win his case.
