Cedric Benson SIGNED with Green Bay. (1 Viewer)

Green Bay - A big lake, lots of boats, not much to do and bars everywhere. What could possibly go wrong! :lmao:

In all seriousness, this has to be the best possible landing spot for Ced personally and for fantasy purposes as he could easily vault to GB's RB1 without the aid of a significant injury. Interesting fit with the Pack, though.

From what I saw out of Starks and Green against SD, I think Benson will be the starter week 1. I'm not certain either of them would make a roster on any other NFL team.

I think Benson is considered to be above average at blitz pick up - which considering the Packers LT position, and the fact that El Matador (err, Starks) couldn't pick up a blitz to save Rodgers life....And the fact that no one is talking about the condition that Kuhns is in, who is great at blitz pick up, makes the pick up one of necessity.

Benson isn't that good, but he doesn't fumble and won't make mistakes like Starks.

He'll be the starter or at least the main cog in a RBBC sooner rather then later.

Ced is pretty good at finding the end zone from short yardage. Might this mean less throwing for Rodgers inside the 5?

On a positive note, it should be a bit easier to pick Green back up, in the draft for me. Im still not sure about Saine though, who has a hamstring issue (could be reason GB is lookin at RB, to place him on pup?). It will be interesting to see the final 53.

Green Bay wants to keep the defense off the field more so they will be running the ball more. Rodgers numbers will take a bit of a hit but not by much. Benson should end up the starter and more than likely will be a nice target if you upside down draft.

The key will be the health of the offensive line and what they do at left tackle. They may do some shuffling but they also may have to resign Clifton if he can pass a physical. If not, the running game and Rodgers staying healthy are big issues. They really need Newhouse and Sherrod to get healthy.

This isn't right...see my name :kicksrock:
Makes it all worth it. Guess.they like him more than they did just keeping Grant.Ok signing...nice to have a vet there. How is he at blitz pickup?
He's solid in picking up the blitz. Good pick up for GB, he's better than Starks right now.

You guys are going way overboard with this topic. An offense like GB takes years to master, especially with a RB needing to know hundreds of plays and different ways of picking up blitzes from each of them. Benson isn't going to walk in and be a starter anytime soon.

Cedric was brought in for depth at a thin position and to push Green and Starks to be better, since someone is waiting in the wings if they don't figure it out. There's no fantasy value here, and I would be shocked if he started a game ahead of Starks, injury barring. I would be shocked if Cedric sees more offensive plays the first half of the year than Alex Green.

I actually think everything you just typed is incorrect. That's not easy to do.

$ where your mouth is? Any amount that Benson doesn't start for GB the first four games barring injury.

If they didn't plan on Benson being anything more than depth, they could have waited to sign him later so none of his contract would be guaranteed.

 Sure. $100 sound good? Pick the moderator of your choice to hold the cash.

Obviously, his dynasty value has gone up, but where is it at right now? In terms of a draft pick, if you need a RB for a year or two, what do you pay for Benson? If you are well stocked at RB and are a seller, at what price do you sell? As a seller, do you sell now before the season or do you wait with the hope that Benson grabs the majority of the carries?

I'm kind of leaning towards selling now and not taking the chance that he ends up in a full blown RBBC. I think without a high 2nd, I'd hold into the season and hope he appears to be the main guy before trying again.

Maybe I should save this for the Rodgers thread, but one thing I'm wondering with him-he only threw 502 passes last year which was 16th in the league and last really among QBs who played a full season. If you add 30 or so atts that would have been there week 17 he would have been 11th. So are we sure that GB will throw less? I'm thinking they throw more, albeit less efficiently.

Benson was been on the WW in some leagues, and really has only very short trem value. If anything his one year play value might be better than whatever package of 3rd/4th rounders that is a probable offer.

In a league of Packer fans. I grabbed him off the FA list last night and expect to be offered a pretty nice bounty for him. The loyalty of Packer fans extends to Fantasy Football also where they will pay premium prices for waiver wire fodder.
