Cedric Benson WAIVED by the Bears (1 Viewer)

Do the Bears look at Henry? Do they pick up the phone and call the Raiders to see what it will take to trade for Jordan?

Something tells me that they will not sit pat with Forte, Peterson, and Wolfe.
People were laughing at me in the Bears thread when I said this was a profit year for the team. Unless someone comes cheap, Im guessing that is exactly what they are going to do. IMO Unless they make a run for Alexander. They need an inside runner. I don't see Henry or Jones filling that job. Maybe Jordan, but then the Bears would have to give something up. Thats why I wouldn't bet on a trade.
Forte can run inside just fine.
Yeah....how is his pass blocking? Do you really know if he can run inside in the NFL yet because I was under the impression he hadn't played any games yet. All the hype aside of the new kid, I know AP can play in this league
I needed to update this. I changed my mind. I have been very busy at my new position here in Florida and hadn't gotten a chance to see film on Forte. Now I have looked at film. I believe Forte is the real deal. He has excellent vision and he's nifty for a bigger RB. I think he shows excellent leg strength and slides off tacklers very well. He vaguely reminds me of Emmitt Smith's running style (shifty), but that could just be because he's in college against inferior talent. I wonder whether his speed will transfer in the NFL.

Regardless, I now am of the opinion he will keep Peterson on the bench for the majority of the touches.

Snowman, glad to see you've come back to reality, at least halfway. It doesn't matter who is ahead of Peterson...he keeps himself on the bench. This is coming from a lifelong Bears fan who briefly suffered under the "let's see what this other kid can do" delusion last season. That delusion ended when I saw what he could do as a starter. 3.0 ypc, worse than Benson. HOWEVER, I wanna say I love the kid and am extremely glad we have him on the team. He's great at what he is, which is a 3rd down/COP back that contributes well on ST. Try to make him something else (as we saw last season) and he just isn't as effective.

Forte's level of competition is a worry. Tulane plays in C-USA which has all of one perennially decent defense in the Conference in Southern Miss. Other than that team it's a bunch of run-n-gun offenses and no defense. He will have some hard times adjusting to NFL speed and size. He simply has never run into anything even close in conference play. Here's how he fared against some tough non-conference opponents (tough defensively)

2007: MSU

14 for 47, 1 TD

LSU:

16 for 73

2006:

MSU (not as good defensively this year)

29 for 170, 1 TD

LSU:

11 for 25 :nerd: :

Auburn:

21 for 117

Quite a mix there, but I like what he did against Auburn 2006 and LSU 2007, so some room for positivity.
