Cell service options when traveling to another country? Brazil (1 Viewer)

I haven't traveled outside the US in a long time. Family is going to Brazil next month for a few weeks.

We all have ATT iPhone 6.

Does anyone have any advice for using the phones in Brazil without costing a fortune?

Thanks!

Take a look at Truphone. They have an international sim. Rates are better, if you can call over a $1.00 per minute better? I bought two of these sims for my kids. It was only for emergency use and Truphone balance doesn't expire as long as you use it once every 90 days. Incoming texts were fee in the US, so we would just send a text from one kids phone to the other to kept them active.

If your phone is unlocked just buy a SIM card when you get there and pop it into your phone. Or just buy a cheap unlocked phone here or there and use a SIM from Brazil.
If it is unlocked you are golden, if not do as dorno says and just buy a burner phone there and get a prepaid plan. You can still use your iphone with wifi at your hotel/condo/restaurants/etc.
