Chad Ochocinco, WR, New England Patriots (1 Viewer)

To put things into perspective, Ocho has had 43 games in his career where he scored more fantasy points in those individual games than he has scored in his fantasy scoring total through 7 games with the Patriots this year.

Getting some important targets tonight, just hasn't happened. I don't think any were his fault. Had one TD target that was deflected.

C'mon, seriously??Please rewatch. Chad could get away with sloppy route running on piss poor teams. Won't fly in NE in an offensive system based on discipline and accountability. It shined a bright light on why Deion Branch will continue to be ahead of him.

Thanks for a summary of the entire Chad to NEP situation. I was commenting on the first few targets of the game. Brady went to him early and often, and it didn't look like the misses were Chad's fault, which is all I was saying.I posted this before his last couple of targets which, yeah, probably were.

Yea, even though Ocho did not put up stats, he was one of the positive things coming out of that game. The only miss that was Chad's fault was the corner route he went for off of a read, which he failed to commit to, causing Brady to throw a pass to an area where Ocho was not.

Some folks really grasping for straws here if you take his performance as a positive. If you lose a game at home to a team missing 2 of its top 3 offensive stars, their are no positives.

Last 2 missed targets in the 4th quarter were CLEARLY Ocho's fault. Fast forward / Rewind, do whatever you have to do to not miss what actually happened again.

#1) He didn't get to his spot because he felt the need to push off the defender (which BTW was a clear offensive pass interference)

#2) He didn't run his route deep enough

NE then has to settle for the FG. You didn't see Ocho after that.

He's useless to this team. We're 9 weeks into the year and he's still making the same mistakes. He's played like a 33 year old rookie out there.

Time to cut bait when Price gets healthy. Or just call the decoy from retirement.

I'm thinking now the Patriots brought Ocho in for his veteran presence and as an example of professional maturity to the other players on the team.

Seriously, who knew that Chad was this stupid? Three months later, he still hasn't has figured out the Patriots offense enough to be on the field for more than a handful of plays a game? 11 catches in 10 games.

This is a meant to be a genuine reply - I think he was plenty smart enough and a younger Chad would have stepped in there and been a tremendous weapon in that offense, but my own personal suspicion is that the cumulative hits he has taken have added up to have the effect of what we are learning more about all the time, which is the cumulative effects of repeated blows to the head.Chris Henry's autopsy results really were a wake up call on this, e.g.

I was never a fan of Ocho in the locker room, but I never questioned his ability and efforts on the field to be a top level NFL receiver.

The fact that he isn't doing at least a passable job in NE (and by many accounts it has to do with learning the offense) is very surprising and begs the question of why.

Hopefully it's just mostly due to the short pre-season learning period this year and maybe some drop off in skills due to age.
