Chargers @ Cardinals - Game Thread (1 Viewer)

Cromartie blew the kickoff coverage, but the defense stopped Arizona, forcing a 50 yard fg, which Rackers made. Good distance on it.

Neal gets another carry.. or 3 touches more than I'd like to have seen.

Malcolm Floyd catches a short slant for a 1st, on good throw by Rivers.

Darren Sproles got a carry and stayed in on 3rd down for a pass play. I'm guessing he was a checkoff, he didn't appear to be staying in to block, but I wasn't watching him. Anyone see if he stayed in the backfield? I wouldn't trust his 5'2" to block anybody.

Leinart scrambles out of the pocket and unleashes a bomb to Bouldin. 80 yards later-TD. He threw it while moving to his right, on the run, to Quan, who had raced by the secondary as they bit on Leinart going to run. Not bad for a left handed QB.

Gates looking good already. Rivers throws a ball scrambling to his left and it was picked off but the DB was ridden out of bounds. Unchallengeable apparently.

And Sproles with a nifty scamper for a TD. He's earned a roster spot IMO.

"That's Terrene Holt's jock out there on the ten yard line"

:goodposting:

Nice move and burst from Sproles. He's really impressed me this preseason.

OK, when pressure causes Leinart to scramble the coverage just breaks down. Good moves and throws for Leinart, bad news for SD secondary.

What's your deal with Neal?
I just don't trust him with the ball in his hands. I love the guy, great blocker, and he does the 1 yard dives effectively, but I just shiver whenever he has the ball.
I'm with you. Whenever they throw to Neal I just hope it's incomplete. If he catches it, he's not going to get any yardage anyway, and he might fumble.Great blocker, but I hate it when they throw the ball to him in the flat.

Case in point.

What do you mean? He leaped one guy, hurdled another, and got a big gainer. His knee was down, and the Chargers will have the ball.ETA: Guess not on the fumble. I think it should have been reversed.

True, they may keep the ball. But he did fumble, even if it's negated.

6th play of 20+ yards in the San Diego passing game tonight... 1 to Sproles, 2 to Jackson, 1 to Gates, 1 to Osgood, 1 to Neal... 217 passing yards so far... 5:46 left in the second quarter.

Once again, people are sleeping on Rivers.

There was an article saying Scifres was working on angling his punts this year, and that one worked out well. With his hangtime, if he can pin them to a sideline, it'll make coverage easier.

LT is awesome at play-by-play commentary.
It's great to hear him break it down. What's with Craig Davis, Maurile?
Last I heard he was going to return some punts tonight, but I haven't seen him in uniform so I don't know.
So he is not starting at WR?
Not tonight evidently, but I don't know what happened.
 oh well, maybe in the 2nd half, the Chargers side of the announcers will let us know Davis' status

I gotta tell ya... I'm not really feelin' the Chargers new threads. They have an XFL feel to me.

Just go back to the powder blues and be done with it.

You're no help whatsoever.
