The Chargers have begun the work to commit to a two-back system in the foreseeable future.

The team and running back Mike Tolbert have had talks about a long-term deal, and it is not out of the question one could be agreed to before the end of the league year.
Great for the team, but sucks fantasy wise. I think Sproles won't be back and possibly VJ. After this past performance by VJ, you would think (hope) the Chargers may consider making an offer. The article did say Tolbert was one of a handful of players that Chargers are in talks with.

Nothing new, how many 1 back teams are left in the NFL? Turner loves Tolbert around the goall line. Any TD that Matthews gets will be from outside the five.

As I stated in another thread, I think the mentality here is to soften up the defense with the hard-hitting Tolbert early on and then use Matthews shiftiness when th3e defense is worn down some. Whether it is Sproles or someone else, I think the Chargers will utilize a 3rd down back next year also.

My guess is that AJ will make offers to both of them, but the offer to Sproles will probably be much closer to what the players and their agents think each is worth.
