Charles Tyrwhitt: $25 or $50 off thru Living Social 5/14/15 (1 Viewer)

Loving these shirts and just realized that they have a store two blocks from my office in Chicago. Going to have to go check it out.

I find the sleeves fit a little short so I have to get an inch added to my normal size. The collar/chest are perfect on the slim fit. I'm not a portly guy (6'6", 195) but I can't imagine squeezing into the extra slim fit.

Now all my older traditional-fit BB shirts feel like I'm wearing a tarp. Thanks OP for the heads-up.
Go to the store and try on the extra slim. That's what I did when I was in NYC. At 6'6", 195, I'm betting the extra slim would fit.

I need to finally get in on this. Randomly (Allen Edmonds mailing list?) got a catalog yesterday.

Advertised deal is $39.95 but you can also pick a tie for free. Seems like a decent time to try just one shirt.

Debating between slim and extra slim. Got a bit of a beer gut these days... :oldunsure:
Can anybody confirm/clarify?

Is it $39.99 per shirt with a free tie per shirt

i.e. I can get 3 shirts and 3 ties for $119.97

or

Is it $39.99 per shirt, and you get 1 free tie?

i.e. I can get 3 shirts and 1 tie for $119.97
I didn't finish the checkout process but I'm pretty sure it is 1 tie only. You can order up to 5 shirts.
That's correct. Sorry for not being clear. One free tie with any purchase of $39.95 or more. Ties look pretty nice too FWIW.

Agreed. I'm 6'2", 185 and the extra slim fits great...and I would actually prefer it to be a little more tapered at the waist.

I know we've been through this before, so I apologize. If Jos A Bank Tailored Fit and Brooks Brothers Slim Fit are good on you but just a little too big still....should I go with Tyrwhitt slim or extra slim? Also, for the Jos A Bank my sleeve length is good at 34. Do I go 35 with the Tyrwhitt?

I need an extra half-inch to an inch on sleeve of the Tyrwhitt shirts versus what I get at JoAB and BB. I find the Tyrwhitt slim to be plenty slim but many on this board think the extra slim is more like regular slim.

I find the JAB tailored and the CT slim to be fairly comparable. Both are a bit big on me. Tried an extra slim and it fits better, but it's very much a trim fit and doesn't give you much room. If the JAB are just a little bit too big on you, my suspicion is that the CT slim will still feel a little bit too big, but the extra slim may feel a little bit too small. For what it's worth, my last two CT purchases were 16/45 extra slim - I'm 5'10" and ~170-73.

Definitely get the extra inch on the sleeves, that was the only thing I wasn't happy with on the shirts. Great feel and value.

Thanks, BB. I'm the same height with about 10 lbs on you. So maybe just the regular slim is fine. If I find it to be too big, I assume exchanging is easy?

Does anyone know which of the white shirts are best? They've got like 4 different materials for the non iron shirts, I have no idea how to differentiate.

:hot:

Couldn't place my order from the train this morning. Bummed that I waited.

I still have two white shirts of theirs still in plastic and unopened, but I can't help but keep stocking up whenever they have one of these great deals.

Order just came. It wasn't the shirt and tie for $39, it was just the shirt. I did still get two banging shirts + one free tie for $78, so still a good deal.

Now the proud owner of two shirts myself. How do you find out about the $39 deals? Do they send an email?
There's a new deal every week. if you're willing to buy 4 shirts, you'll get a deal with no problem in the next week or so. You need to be a little more patient for single shirts.

Question: I thought I noticed that the white shirts I purchased from CT previously had a thicker/stiffer collar than the ones I received in recent orders. All were non-iron. Did they change the shirts? Or did I just unwittingly purchase different kinds of the 5 or so different white non iron shirts they have available? Or am I just imagining this?

TIA

Just ordered 5 shirts on Friday (3 had custom sleeve length tailoring). They Just arrived today, two business days later. :o

Fri : 1pm ordered
Sun night / Mon AM: 1:49am "Despatch/Shipping email" - Stated should recieve by Wed the 29th
Tues at 11:30am : shirts arrive.

Granted, I paid the $39 for express shipping (very fair from england for 5 shirts, IMO) as I needed them for a trip next week, but that is impressive.

So I ordered my 4 shirts with that groupon, and I guess I didn't realize it but I ordered 2 shirts that need cuff links (the ordering process is a tad cumbersome even when you select the proper filters). I'm not a cuff link guy at all. Can anyone suggest something that might work for me?

I'm just looking for something "low key" that will stay out of the way

I know they say no hassle returns, but it's my fault at the end of the day b/c I didn't double check the order....I usually wear these shirts with nice dress slacks to work FWIW.

Their customer service is excellent. Simply call them and let them know you accidentally ordered french cuffs for two of the shirts and what options are available to return the shirts for traditional/barrel cuffs.

I kinda like french cuffs with a suit... but I understand they're definitely overkill for business casual work attire.

I unfortunately disagree. Their CS and lack of delivery tracking sucks absolute fatty balls. Unacceptable for 2014/15 global ecommerce.

First, there is no delivery tracking; unless of course you pay for expedited shipping at a $30 upcharge. I placed an order in mid-November for three shirts at $29.xx per, plus $10 shipping. I patiently waited two weeks for delivery, with no tracking whatsoever.

You will not know when the timing of delivery will be until it sitting on your front porch. It could be one week if you live on the East Coast or 2.5 weeks for us West Coasters.

Secondly, their slim or extra fit cannot be taken seriously. Extra slim fit is recommended for anyone unless you are a severely obese fatty. I am 6'1 190 and the extra slim was way too baggy not only int the abdomen region but also in the upper arms.

CT advertises the hassle-free return process that saves you ten days. I followed their return protocol, created an online return shipping label, and waited... and waited... and waited. CT sends it Parcel post COD to their agent in NY state and there is no tracking for a week until the agent signs for it. They then they re-package and send it across the pond. Give it 2.5 weeks minimum until they finally release your exchange shirts. Mid November purchase for me, tried it on, and returned it, and CT finally received my return Dec 23rd.

If their shirts fit you, perhaps they are a great deal. I founf their patterns to be a bit limited and definitely not fitted or athletic cut enough.

I would have been better trying these on in person and realizing that even the extra slim is not slim at all. Wait for a Brooks Brother non-iron slim fit sale for $35-$40//shirt or visit a Nordstroms Rack and purchase something that fits your body type better.

Just my two cents. Cheers.

I must be morbidly obese because the extra slim is way tight in my midsection. I go slim for now. I'm 15 or so pounds from the extra fitting right.

I'm running low on clothes (suits in particular--I'm pretty stocked on dress shirts right now) and saw a "sale" e-mail, jumped on ctshirts and started shopping. Ended up blowing $1800, but for that price got 4 suits, a bunch of ties and some socks. You can't go wrong at a $400 price point for a nice suit, no brainer, great value for these based on my past experience. We'll see what these end up looking like in person...

Can I just say I completely disagree with everything, but the tracking that Teddy Sheckles wrote.

I'm 5'8" 165-70 with a fairly athletic build (I bike a ton so a lot of that weight is in the legs) and the extra slim shirts are tight (15 1/2-33), while the slim are well fitted. The slim pants are tightish on me as well, but again I have big thighs. I find everything well fitted.

I've found their shipping to be hit or miss, but CS has been helpful. Reshipped an order after I didn't receive it for a 3.5 weeks. Followed up to make sure I got the second order. Then the original order showed up after 6 weeks. They told me to keep it anyway.

Otis, they have different fabric types. They Herringbone is generally the "thickest" (does have a pattern) while the Prince of Wales (or whatever they call it) is the thinnest.

You are welcome to respectfully disagree; My assessment from my own personal trial and error is that these CT extra slim dress shirts are way too baggy in the arms and waist area. An extra slim fitting shirt should have have some tapering from the shoulders to the waist. The excessive amount of fabric in the armpit seam/upper arm seam are quite disproportional to the body of the shirt.

The fabrics are very nice and quality for $30/shirt. If they fit me better, they would be keepers. But I ordered and was expecting an extra slim shirt to be somewhat form fitting; these unfortunately are not. Chalk it up to different body compositions I suppose?

I just ordered three more as they have a decent deal going :bag:

As far as the slim v. extra- slim debate. I am 5'7" 170 and workout regularly. No chance of extra slim fitting through the chest and back without pulling. Slim on the other hand fits great.

Looking for a white shirt that is not see through to hide nipples and t-shirt lines.

Had issues with shirts from both CT and BB.

Has anyone had luck with white shirts from CT? Which material?

Can't say definitively but the "diamond weave" from CT might work.

I don't own any of these, but am going to give this a go today... The sizing is S,M,L,XL,XXL.

For comparison, I wear an XL in Banana Republic button downs - Would this translate here?

Yeah you should be good on Sportshirts or anything sized that way.

For dress shirts, might add 1/2 inch to the neck to be safe.. and if you wear say a 36/37 sleeve normally, order 37 length sleeve on CT.

Awesome. Been waiting for this sale to come around again. I'm in for 6 shirts...I need to start getting rid of some of my older shirts, and this gives me an excuse.
