Charles Woodson punt-return fumble (1 Viewer)

Yup, I'm scraping for my Super Bowl life. Charles Woodson fumbled a punt return on Sun. The fumble shows in both the "game stats" and "full play-by-play". However, it does not show in the "gamebook". If this fumble is counted, I win by one point.

(10:05) N.Harris punts 56 yards to GB 43, Center-D.Muhlbach. C.Woodson to DET 43 for 14 yards. FUMBLES (D.Muhlbach), RECOVERED by DET-A.Lewis at DET 45. A.Lewis to DET 47 for 2 yards (D.Lee). FUMBLES (D.Lee), RECOVERED by GB-C.Peprah at 50. C.Peprah to 50 for no gain (J.McGraw).

PENALTY on GB-T.Culver, Illegal Block Above the Waist, 10 yards, enforced at DET 43.

:yawn: ---> Nothing in Gamebook:

Looks like the penalty wiped out the play. I see it was enforced from where Woodson received punt.

If Detroit had not fumbled the ball back it would have counted as they would have declined the penalty, howver since they fumbled the ball back to GB they had to option of giving them the ball where the new fumble was recovered or 10 yards behind where the ball was when the illegal block occurred. Detroit accepted the penalty which then eliminated the fumble as the play stopped there and the ball was moved back 10 yards.

Great explanation!That was (unfortunately) what I was looking for. :shrug:

FORTUNATELY, that is what I was looking for. Face it - the better team won last night.

I thought you were implying the down was replayed. Thanks for the help.
