Charlie Weis effect on KC offense? (1 Viewer)

I know they retained some of their staff to maintain some continuity but I read somewhere that Cassell's numbers dropped when Weiss announced his departure. I know there were other factors but it did get me thinking.

I sort of think the run game will be ok but I do wonder if Bowe and Cassell can pick up where they left off or if they will regress significantly.

What say you KC followers?

One 's' in Weis, one 'l' in Cassel.

Now that said, I think KC fans should be considerably troubled by Weis' quick arrival and departure. Bill Muir hardly acquitted himself well as the OC in Tampa Bay. The Bucs offense was never better than league average, and Gruden was the main play caller for most of Muir's tenure. While some may say that Haley is an effective play caller, let's remember that Haley's seeming inability to balance that with head coaching responsibilities is why Weis' hire was so essential (and effective) in the first place.

Excellent points across the board.

The reason Weis left was because Haley was running the offense. No change.

That's not true. Weis was the play-caller. It even led to a brouhaha that Haley stripped Weis of the play-calling duties at halftime of their playoff loss to the Ravens, which was then refuted by both parties.

Expect everyone on the KC offense to take a moderate step back this year, except the uber talented Jamaal Charles. I just think the guy is too special to see a considerable drop off in production.

Weis maximized the value of a mediocre QB and basically 1 dangerous WR. He was able to exploit a bevy of horrible pass defenses down the stretch, and it made Cassel look like a top 12 QB and Bowe look like a top 5 WR.

I expect Cassel to come back to earth this year, and finish probably in the 14-20 range, and Bowe to be a high end WR2 instead of a solid 1.

Like I said, Haley was running the offense.

I look at Weis leaving to have a slightly negative impact on the KC offense.

I think the one thing that will cause the most issues is their schedule, ESPECIALLY during fantasy "crunch" time:

Week 11 @NEP

Week 12 PIT

Week 13 @CHI

Week 14 @NYJ

Week 15 GBP
