The Arizona Republic confirms a Profootballtalk.com report that Edgerrin James wants the Cardinals to cut him.
Through his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, James requested his release. "He’s in the prime of his career and he wants to contribute," Rosenhaus said laughably. Edge is reportedly hoping the team spares him "the indignity of standing on the sidelines." The Cards took a hard-line stance with Anquan Boldin this past offseason and are likely to do the same in this situation.

I know his agent said it but I laughed out loud when I read it.

He was all about the money. IMO, he still is all about the money. He knows that he's getting cut at the end of the year, and wants to get cut now so that he can try to showcase himself a little more, fool some team and try to sign one last decent deal. But the guy is toast. He has zero burst and no wiggle. Yes the Cards' run blocking is pretty bad, but James isn't good for much more than trying to find a hole and plowing forward for 3 yards. Asking for your release when a team is paying you $5M for the season and looks to finally be making the playoffs is very
