He was the OL FA that I was hoping would wind up in Chicago.

Forte's future beyond 2012 is not guaranteed - and he isn't happy with the Bears not giving him a long term deal. Perhaps Bush feels he has a chance to be a starter in the not-too-distant future. FWIW, he's not a starter now either.

They haven't signed him yet - and maybe they're meeting with him so they actually can find out what he wants (instead of presuming).

I think most teams have done a preliminary talk with player/agent to determine salary before any of these visits. No sense in talking to a guy that wants a boatload of money.

HA! Now that sounds more like the bears we all know and love. Either way, i'll take the trade, but that being said, would have been nice to turn one of those thirds into a 4th if we had some more leverage.

Damn! 2.5 million for Bennett is a steal. He would have been perfect for Tice's more 'balanced' approach on offense. And at his age/measurables/etc. he was a freakin' bargain and a half...

While it's more than likely 'pants' is the appropriate term here, it is quite possible that the Dolphins had no idea about what happened as well. And I completely agree with the 'Either way, I'll take the trade' mentality. I like to think that he gets 4 games at the most if he's suspended. I can deal with that. The only downside to this, is that if he comes under the wrath of Goodell here, the inevitable next suspension is probably going to be a year.

He underwent surgery for a torn left ACL and started 12 games last season, earning Minnesota’s Ed Block Courage Award.The Bears rushed for 2,015 yards last year despite shuffling at both guard positions and now appear to have Williams ticketed for a return to tackle and a position battle there. The Bears are deep at guard with Lance Louis, who filled in at right tackle last season, Chris Spencer and Edwin Williams.But they are considerably less set at tackle, where Gabe Carimi is coming back from knee surgery and J’Marcus Webb needs to take a step up in consistency. Chris Williams was drafted to be the franchise left tackle in 2008 and has starts at both left and right

That's current, without any contract restructuring or further players released. Can open up a lot more if they want to by restructuring a few contracts.

Waiting for the market to die down a little now. It appears almost certain Raiders will cut Wimbley before his big roster bonus on Saturday. Could be that the Bears are waiting to see what happens there. Need at least a guard and tackle in free agency, I think. It's hard to address every hole but they are doing a good job so far, imo. Wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a cheaper wr either. Finally, it looks like the Bears have a plan and aren't in denial about their problems.

I love the idea but can't envision giving up a first round pick and a big contract. Seems like the money could be better spent, to me. I don't think that's even in the Bears minds right now, but I've been wrong plenty of times before. Who knows...

We will have to agree to disagree. There is no starting guard in the league that Herrera is far superior too. Ok run blocker, complete turnstile in pass protection. Sounds perfect for us.Not positive but I think Spencer was a guard in college. Didnt he start all 16 for us....and I rarely recall him being a noticeable problem last year. Our tackles were most of our problems I believe.

I have a feeling Super Mario is not even going to visit the Bears. Who knows, maybe the Bears weren't that interested in Williams, since reports were Mincey was 5 minutes away from signing with the Bears.

I guess the next logical player would be Wimbley sometime this weekend.

Prime example of how a team like the Saints values the o line vs a team like the Bears. They lose their stud guard because they couldnt afford him....so they go get the next best guy....and thats with already having one stud guard on roster.
