He was the OL FA that I was hoping would wind up in Chicago.Forte's future beyond 2012 is not guaranteed - and he isn't happy with the Bears not giving him a long term deal. Perhaps Bush feels he has a chance to be a starter in the not-too-distant future. FWIW, he's not a starter now either.Cant imagine him wanting to come here and be a clear backup.Michael Bush visiting the Bears.![]()
They haven't signed him yet - and maybe they're meeting with him so they actually can find out what he wants (instead of presuming).signing Bush just seems like a dumb move.Based on the money that Bush would want, why spend that money now. You have Forte for 2012, why not look for a younger player, with fresh legs in the draft.
If Emery was here last year, we would've gotten him and Waters in free agency.Gaither re-signed with Chargers, which is what I expected. He was the OL FA that I was hoping would wind up in Chicago.
I think most teams have done a preliminary talk with player/agent to determine salary before any of these visits. No sense in talking to a guy that wants a boatload of money. They haven't signed him yet - and maybe they're meeting with him so they actually can find out what he wants (instead of presuming).signing Bush just seems like a dumb move.Based on the money that Bush would want, why spend that money now. @dan_bernstein A #Bears source I trust believes they had no idea about the Marshall incident before the trade. Completely pantsed.
HA! Now that sounds more like the bears we all know and love. Either way, i'll take the trade, but that being said, would have been nice to turn one of those thirds into a 4th if we had some more leverage.@dan_bernstein A #Bears source I trust believes they had no idea about the Marshall incident before the trade. Right. Briggs saying Bears don't usually bring in guys they're not serious about signing, which most of us already know. Hayden, Herrera and Bush visiting today.I think most teams have done a preliminary talk with player/agent to determine salary before any of these visits. Damn! 2.5 million for Bennett is a steal. He would have been perfect for Tice's more 'balanced' approach on offense. And at his age/measurables/etc. he was a freakin' bargain and a half...Bennett to the Giants. Running out of options here.

I still think Jacob Tamme would be an interesting fit who can probably had pretty cheaply.Bennett to the Giants. Running out of options here.
While it's more than likely 'pants' is the appropriate term here, it is quite possible that the Dolphins had no idea about what happened as well. And I completely agree with the 'Either way, I'll take the trade' mentality. I like to think that he gets 4 games at the most if he's suspended. I can deal with that. The only downside to this, is that if he comes under the wrath of Goodell here, the inevitable next suspension is probably going to be a year.HA! .March 14, 2012, 10:35 amJOHN "MOON" MULLINIn what strongly points to Chris Williams is headed back from guard to tackle, the Bears scheduled their first free-agent visit at Halas Hall and it’s a guard, veteran Anthony Herrera, released this week by the Minnesota Vikings in a multi-player salary cap dump.Herrera, 31, has started 70 games during his career and got his break into the Minnesota starting lineup in 2005 when Mike Tice was Vikings head coach. He underwent surgery for a torn left ACL and started 12 games last season, earning Minnesota’s Ed Block Courage Award. The Bears rushed for 2,015 yards last year despite shuffling at both guard positions and now appear to have Williams ticketed for a return to tackle and a position battle there. The Bears are deep at guard with Lance Louis, who filled in at right tackle last season, Chris Spencer and Edwin Williams. But they are considerably less set at tackle, where Gabe Carimi is coming back from knee surgery and J’Marcus Webb needs to take a step up in consistency. Chris Williams was drafted to be the franchise left tackle in 2008 and has starts at both left and right
Much better off going with Herrera, than a guy who has been hurt for much of his career and never lived up to expectations. Zero chance of them looking at Gallery, imo.Rotoworld saying that Robert Gallery will be let go by Seattle. Anything to see here?

He's better than Robert Gallery and any of the guys we have. He's not a bad guard at all. If he comes cheaper than the 2.7 Spencer will be getting, and I think he will, sign him.Herrera sucksMuch better off going with Herrera, than a guy who has been hurt for much of his career and never lived up to expectations. I love the idea but can't envision giving up a first round pick and a big contract. Seems like the money could be better spent, to me. I don't think that's even in the Bears minds right now, but I've been wrong plenty of times before. Who knows...If we don't sign Super Mario, what do you think of waiting until Mike Wallace becomes available. Not sure what type of money Wallace would want (hopefully not VJax $$$)
Would love to see BMarshall on one side, Mike Wallace on the other and Bennett in the slot.
A guy can dream can't he?
Wasn't Spencer brought in to play center, but ended up playing guard when Garza moved to center? He hasn't even played much at the guard position in his career. I don't remember, but how many games did he end up starting? Herrera is far superior, imo.Gallery sucks too. Id rather have Spencer. He's better than Robert Gallery and any of the guys we have. We will have to agree to disagree. There is no starting guard in the league that Herrera is far superior too. Ok run blocker, complete turnstile in pass protection. Sounds perfect for us.Not positive but I think Spencer was a guard in college. Didnt he start all 16 for us....and I rarely recall him being a noticeable problem last year. Our tackles were most of our problems I believe.Wasn't Spencer brought in to play center, but ended up playing guard when Garza moved to center? He's visiting the Ravens, meanwhile the Bears don't appear very interested in improving the OL yet.I like the thought of bringing in Evan Mathis OG formerly an Eagle. He's pretty good and still available.

He wants a ridiculous amount of money.Would you be opposed to a guy like Abraham for a year?
