Uh, you don't need to tell me he didn't play his senior year of college, you quoted me describing the injury that kept him out. I will repeat it again, any previous injury history he might have has nothing to do with an injury received while leading with the helmet yet you're more than happy to call it a GREAT PICK!!!!. It was a good pick, until he decided to throw tackling form out the window and maim himself. There is nothing in the draft room that can prevent that.I'm also liking the addition of the personal attacks questioning my knowledge and athletic ability. That makes a little more sense. He isn't fast though. Decent special teamer if memory serves. I wonder if the Bears are thinking of making him a safety. He's decent size, but not very fast.

5'11 and slow. Has he ever played safety? Be kind of difficult transitioning now.

I'm not aware of him playing safety in the NFL. He's got ok speed, 4.4-4.5 range. Did kick returns last year but was really nothing special. He's basically a 4th or 5th CB, or someone could move him to safety though I wouldn't expect him to be more than a backup.What's the story on Clutts? Sounds like you guys liked him?

Great blocker and a versatile player. Was the backup long snapper as well. I guess he didn't fit into Tice's plans.

Ummm...Rotoworld has him listed at 6' 1"...http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5918/sherrick-mcmanis - that would make him 2" taller than Major Wright (although McManis is not as thick)

Looks like Bryant Mckinnie might be available. Not a long term upgrade, but might be better than Webb right now. Anyone watch enough Ravens games to know what kind of player he is?

Cautiously optimistic after this game. Couldn't have gone much better, considering Urlacher and Peanut were both out for over half of the game. A few thoughts:
-OL played well, even Turd Webb. Gave Jay time and good run blocking. 2 sacks allowed on the day, one of which was on Davis.
-Cutler made some amazing throws and is deadly with weapons. Dominated after a rocky start. The guy's confidence never waivers.
-WRs played well. Marshall is unreal. Alshon looks like he's going to be the real deal. Great hands and big. Lovie finally appears to be giving up on the Hester experiment.
-Forte/Bush combo looks good. Forte looking explosive. Bush a great compliment to Forte and great at the GL.
-Secondary played very well, especially Jennings. Hayden also filled in nicely after Peanut went down. 3 INTs
-Shea looked fairly mediocre, but I won't pass judgement on him for a few games.
-The DL played fairly well. If they can stay healthy, especially Wooten, they should be well above average. Peppers is Peppers. Peppers and Izzy both played inside some. Melton also looked impressive. Didn't notice Paea any.
-LBs were exposed frequently. Left a lot of guys open and allowed the Colts to move the ball consistently. Urlacher seemed a little slow, which was to be expected. Didn't play second half.
-Kellen Davis is awful and whiffed on numerous blocks. Can't get open. He's worthless and a waste of money, not sure what Lovie and Tice see in him. Rodriguez and Adams both had good games blocking.
-Special teams played well as usual. Forced fumble. Good coverage. Hester did well with limited opportunities.
Will be much easier to see where the team is at after Thursday. Not going to get too excited after beating one of the worst teams in the league with a rookie qb, but it was a good start.

I agree with just about everything you posted.Cutler with weapons and even some time =
Ironically, one of my favorite plays was a TD pass that was sort of deflected and slipped through Marshall's hands (north endzone) incomplete. The one where he was bracketed. On the replay from the south end zone you couldn't even see Marshall - then Cutler fires the ball and Marshall's hands come out from behind the guy in front of him and almost snag it. An unreal throw - like Dierdorf said, Cutler doesn't try to throw through windows, sometimes he tries to through through cracks (slivers?) - and amazingly, usually is dead on.

Matt Forte - RB - Bears 
Matt Forte was sent to the locker room with an apparent right ankle injury in the third quarter of Thursday's game versus the Packers.
Forte was getting his right foot and ankle taped and appeared to be ready to go back in the game. After testing his ankle on the sidelines, he was next seen walking to the locker room with trainers. Carrying over his stellar play from Week 1, Forte had 80 of the Bears' 130 yards at the time of the injury. He's been all the Bears have on offense through two and a half quarters.

Honestly felt like I was watching the same old Bears tonight. No offense. No O-line. Multiple turnovers. Defense trying to keep us in the game. TB having a meltdown in the game thread. Good times. I see no reason to state the obvious any further or continue to rehash the same discussions.. That was a freaking embarrassment to Bears fans everywhere. Heads should roll soon. Nothing more to say about it.

Emery seemed to believe that the offensive problems would be minimized by improving the wide receivers and eliminating the seven step drops. That obviously has failed. The line is every bit as bad as it was last year. They were not helped by the play of either Cutler or the wide receivers. It seemed like the receivers couldn't get separation. And Cutler was absolutely awful last night. I think Carimi may develop. At least he has upside. For some reason I believe that Lance Louis may be alright. Garza is below average in my opinion, as is Spencer. And J'Marcus Webb is a train wreck. There is no help for Spencer, Garza or Webb on the roster. Webb's back up is Chris Williams, who is no better. Although after this pitiful display the Bears might consider at least putting Williams out there. It appears that we will have to wait until next year to see if the Bears can improve this line.
I'm losing faith in Cutler. I've supported him to this point. Not only was his play terrible, but the episode with Webb was really a sign of immaturity and a complete lack of leadership. Can you ever imagine Peyton Manning putting on a display like that? Cutler is a streaky player, and at times looks very good. But when he gets pressured, or things aren't going well, he really melts down. That is not what you want to see in your quarterback. I was really starting to feel good about Cutler after he played so well last year. But last night all of his worst qualities were on display.
The only offensive players I thought played reasonably well were Bush and Forte. And now Forte is out with what I read was a high ankle sprain. I'm sure the Bears will play better than they did last night. But the Packers created a blueprint for how to beat the Bears last night. The Bears don't handle pressure well. Both the Lions and the Vikings can get after the passer. If they put pressure on Cutler he will make bad decisions and throw interceptions. The Bears need to show they can play well against a playoff caliber team. Last night they did not, and I am not particularly optimistic.

I'm feeling the same way. Eerily similar to Grossman in that the good Rex/bad Rex can rear his head at any moment
I didn't get to see the game though, just listened on the internet so maybe what Jay did was worse.As for Emery he's still gold in my book. Everyone thought the new scheme, receivers, and other tweaks would help the o-line. Obviously it didn't. Now that it is painfully clear the problem isn't any better it's time for Emery to address it. Doing it in season would be a tough way to go, you would have to pay top level dollar for mediocre level talent. If he ignores it in the draft then I've got issues, but I trust he won't.

A few points, if I may:1) I agree that Webb is horrible. He's slow and has awful footwork. If the guy doesn't try to bull-rush, Webb looks like a drunk playing ring-around-the-rosie.
2) It's not Cutler I am losing faith in - it's Tice. I have been a big proponent of his but last night's play calling was awful. Terrible. You're on the road, in a hostile envirnment and instead of establishing the run early, you drop back against a great pass rushing team and take a sack....just like you did last week. Way to set the tone. Not only was the play calling horrible (and included ZERO roll outs) there were no offensive adjustments. Not one. Not 3 step drops, no quick hit slants, no "let's get the running game going", no WR screens...nothing.
3) In terms of Cutler "melt down" - it's fairly simple - and you could almost see it happening - right after he got blind-sided by Matthews when Webb whiffed. He went from expecting to be able to throw, to expecting to be sacked. He started having to move around too much in the pocket to avoid the rush, because NONE of the o-line could hold a block. There was pressure coming from all over - and Cutler started to assume it was going to be there.
4) I agree with some that say a team is never as bad as they look at their worst or as good as they look at their best. The Packers are a quality team playing with a sense of urgency on a short week. The Bears were a team that looked like they thought that the offensive game plan they used in week 1 was going to work in week 2. It didn't - and instead of adjusting they arrogantly refused to get away from it. That concerns me the most. That offense isn't going to be held to 10 points every week - but they're not going to score 40+ every week either. Their offensive line is simply not that good.

I hear Hub is usually full of crap, but I wouldn't know. Don't know much about Scott, except that he's been on a bunch of different teams. It couldn't get much worse. End the Webb experiment just like you ended the Hester experiment. You're dumb as a rock, Lovie, and you too Tice. Called a pitiful game last night.
