Chiefs Plan to Shutdown LJ (per Rotoworld) (1 Viewer)

Sources close to Larry Johnson indicate that the Chiefs and their star runner are expecting to shut Johnson down for the season.

The decision was apparently made before the results of a Monday MRI are revealed. While the news may not officially announced right away, the team and Johnson were looking at a best case scenario in which Johnson would return for a few meaningless games. L.J's rivalry with Priest Holmes was playing a factor in Johnson's desire to return, but that's not enough to risk jeopardizing his career. Johnson owners can wait to hear confirmation, but don't expect him to help your fantasy squads again. Nov. 19 - 4:55 pm et

Bye bye LJ

Good move by the Chiefs. Get him ready for next year and sort the offensive line out. If there's one thing Carl Peterson has been able to do -- just one measly thing in his pathetic tenure as GM -- it's build an offensive line, and that's through the draft, FA and trades.

I don't expect this joke of an OL to continue in KC.

Just keep in mind this is Rotoworld and they are speculating, not reporting. I have looked for any kind of credible link and have found none.

Roto World is the National Enquirer of FF.

They throw up a bunch of crap and hope some sticks.

I can't believe I am saying this, but this team still has a shot at the playoffs especially depending on what happens tonight....somebody has to win the AFC west....so lets see how this shakes down this week......if he could come back healthy towards the end of the season why not..........even if that means sitting him for a few weeks......even though they lost, I like what I saw in Croyle yesterday.......

Funny! Last week there was a thread about how horrible Croyle was. lol Kudos to me for sticking up for him. Hey benching LJ makes sense. Priest is all but washed up. Why not ride him into the ground, grab a better draft spot, and make sure LJ is recovered fully next season?

I'm sure KC is looking at all the options. As you said, the division is still up for grabs. I don't see them putting him on IR for at least 2-3 weeks, if they even do. If he makes progress, and they win a few games I expect LJ back. If they lose 3 in a row, I expect him to be placed on the IR.

Not sure they really care about making the playoffs when they have no shot against the likes of NE, Indy, or Pittsburgh and going through a combo of them to the super bowl.

The streak of RBs with a large number of touches who struggle/get injured the next year continues.
You mean, the human tendency to reinforce frames of reference by ignoring the actual facts continues. The RB with the second-highest amount of touches from 2006, and the highest amount of touches over the past 2, 3, 4, and 5 years did not get injured. Almost every other starting RB has.

And not only that, the injury was a complete fluke. That could've happened to LJ in any year of his playing career - high school, college or pro.

SHHHHH just let them keep thinking it, no matter the facts presented they have a blind eye to the truth.

Much better than reporting it 6 hours late when it is 100% confirmed (like Yahoo). Because of Rotoworld, I just traded him for Hasselbeck. If it turns out to be credible, I just scored a free starting QB because of the National Enquirer of FF.

why would you want to trade L.J for Hasselbeck ? .. must not be a keeper or dynasty league correct ?

THAT is ridiculous - look at the amount of $$$ the team makes for even one playoff game.....and on any given Sunday.. winning a first game would get them a second

No way! Carl Peterson joined the forums? Most KC homers would rather see them mail it in...its been 19 season on what Carl said in 1988 was a five-year plan. If Carl Peterson could go 9-7 every year, I think he would take it. It keeps naive butts in the seats.

We've been talking about this for quite a while.A lot of people are going to owe Josina Anderson an apology if this plays out like it's going.

Mailed November 8

Hi Folks,

I've always run this thing on a "You'll know what I know" basis. I'm passing this

along but please understand this is NOT official news yet.

The FOX 31 News affiliate in Denver (not Kansas City) is reporting that KC running

back Larry Johnson is out for the season.

Link: http://www.myfoxcolorado.com/myfox/pages/S...mp;pageId=6.2.1

Clipped from the Josina Anderson article:

Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the season with a broken

left foot.

This was confirmed by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge

of the situation.

According to the Chiefs initially, Johnson had suffered a mid-foot sprain in the

fourth quarter of last Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Packers.

However Anderson has learned that Johnson has a broken bone in the left foot.

[[[[[[[[[[ OUR VIEW ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]

PLEASE note that this is not official news. In fact, the team is denying this report.

A couple of things are worth noting. First, the story is coming out of Denver, not

Kansas City. Secondly, it's Johnson's right foot that is injured, not the left foot

as the story is written. Both those things make you pause.

On the other hand, Josina Anderson is a reputable source in Denver. She's had

breaking stories before with Denver players.

The only official word from the team is coach Herm Edwards saying that Johnson is

"highly questionable" for this week.

We told you about this injury minutes after it happened during the game Sunday. I

still think Priest Holmes is the guy to pickup whether Johnson is out for the season

or not. At the very best, I'd expect Johnson to miss a couple of weeks and quite

likely much more.

We'll keep an eye on how this plays out but for now, I wanted to let you know what

I was hearing.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday.

Not sure I agree with your logic. Yoe heard LJ was going to be shut down for the year and dumped him on another team in your league? That would only work once in my leagues and guys would never trade with you again.

I bet the owners like the idea of hosting a wildcard game at Arrowhead and all the money that comes with it. And the players won't hate an extra game check or two either.
