Chris Chambers... buy, sell or hold? (1 Viewer)

There may be a thread already on this but I couldnt find it. My apologies if there is.

Is Chris Chambers a buy, sell or hold at this point?

I really hate Culpepper and that offensive line stinks but this guy has a ton of talent and seems to come on stronger as the year rolls along. Can he be relied upon as a solid #2 or 3 receiver or should we capitalize on name recognition and ditch him fast?

Thanks in advance!

I also have Chambers. I am seriously considering trading him for a player that will perform well in the playoffs. I wonder, however, if anyone has an optimistic view of him given his upcoming schedule.

Buy or hold. His value is low.

He's an amazing athlete who has had two 11 TD seasons with bad quarterbacks before.

He is tied for first in the NFL with 6 red zone targets. He caught a pass in week 3 at the three and got to within an inch of the goaline, plus Culpepper missed him on an easy touchdown in the Pittsburgh game. He is a few inches from having four touchdowns, plus, he's always gotten better as the season progresses. remember last year?

Culpepper can't possibly get any worse. I would imagine his knee should get a little better each week and he'll be a little more effective avoiding the rush. So, you're either going to get a better Culpepper or Harrington, who can't do any worse than Dante is now.

Buy or Hold.

Season still early and despite Chambers lack of production he has 39 targets in 4 games, nearly 10 targets per game! Yet he is only averaging 4 catches per game so there is ample room to improve.

This is Culpeppers 1st season in Miami and first few games back from injury so I think as the season progresses he'll improve and in turn Chambers numbers will as well.

Big-time buy if you can get him. Its a long season. I have faith that Saban will turn that ship around. His value is rock bottom.

I'm holding. I really have no choice as my #1 and #2 WRs were supposed to be Moss and Chambers. :(

Chris HAS been Dr. Garbage Time the past 2 weeks for me, be it with rushing yards or late, meaningless TDs. As mentioned....how much worse can Culpepper play? At least Chambers isn't donuting every week a la Moss in Chokeland.

I'd take an upgrade, but his value is such right now that I won't get back what I'd like if I deal him. Holding with my fingers crossed.

Holding him in hopes of a 2nd half improvement from both him and Daunte. They could be a factor down the stretch.

I think you have to buy and/or hold just because he is more of a second half of the season player

Check these career numbers

Games 1-8-Avg 52 ypg 18 total TD's

Games 9-16- Avg 65 ypg and 23 Total TD's

Last year games 1-8: 52 ypg and 3 total TD's

Last year games 9-16: 88ypg and 8 TD's

Unless you HAVE to make a move, keep him and play matchups until you see him starting to improve. Or get him now while other owners are down on him.

Some joker in my league just offered me Andre Johnson for Chambers/CJ.

Kicker is, I traded him Andre/Julius/Tatum for Chambers/Edge/Gore during the offseason...I'm holding onto Chambers till he gets his act together.

Harrington may just be the best quarterback Chambers has ever had.Wow. That's scary.
Actually, what's scary is that the answer to "Who's the best QB Chambers has ever had?" is probably Gus.(Or Bollinger. ;) )

I just thought.... is it possible his hand is worse then they have been letting on?? I don't get to watch the games... so, wondered if he could be playing decoy some this year?

Do Dolphin homers have any thoughts on way Chambers is getting such low yardage? He gets 10 targets a game!

value is low. you cant possibly sell. even miami homers wont touch chambers. give it time. season is young. chambers will have a good year. maybe not top 5, but he will have top 5 games. count on it.

He was dropped by someone in my league  I scooped him up and I dropped Mason to make room for him. He will have his days.

I think Joey helps both McMichael and Chambers. The fact that he will be throwing to Randy more takes a bit of heat off of Chambers. Plus, Joey/Chambers DID hook up for a td in the preseason, so that seals it.

I actually bought him low myself. He is a second half player.

12 Team Keeper League

I sent C. Taylor, Reg Williams and Delhomme for C. Palmer, L. Jordan, and C. Chambers

Chamber will pick it up big time.

I will be happy to have him as my #4 WR. He can relax on my bench while D. Jackson, A. Johnson, D. Stallworth help my team while he improves.

i sincerely think that whatever you can get for him, take it. culpepper cant play and harrington likes whiteboy wes welker. talk about fantasy busts, all 3 miami guys are right on up there

I felt as though he had peeked last season. After trading for him last season in a dynasty, I traded him a week before the season. I sent Big Ben, Chambers, and 4th round rookie pick in 2007 for Brees, Javon Walker, and 1st round rookie pick in 2007. Needless to say, I'm very happy.

I drafted Chambers to be my WR1, and you know how that worked out...

I tried to trade him 2 weeks ago & nobody wants him. So I made some other deals to get WRs that make Chambers my WR3 now. I can deal with waiting for him to improve if I know I have 2 stud WRs in front of him.

That's the smart move. You never trade a great player when he's performing badly. His eleven touchdowns two out of three years weren't an accident.

I bought, for Driver. On balance, probably a bit of a drop. Did mainly because of bye week problems and because i own Jennings, too.

I think Chambers has as much talent as any WR. I don't think he's ever had a great QB throwing to him, so i'm not worried about Harrington.

My advice: BUY, but you likely won't have to pay as much as i did. Try to offer someone like Braylon Edwards, Cotchery, Colston (non-TE version), Berrian -- all of whom have over-performed so far.

League notes: 12 team, start 3 WR, PPR
