Chris Johnson owners--beware (1 Viewer)

Chris Johnson is arguably the most dangerous RB in the league...if you think Javon Ringer or Lendale White are going to cut into his touches you're not thinking like a head coach trying to win the division.Johnson's role is reported to be expanding, not shrinking.
And I'd politely suggest that if we followed your line of thinking, no other back on the Titans roster would ever get a carry because CJ is the best and thus 30 touches a game would be better than 20.Yet NFL coaches don't think that way. They like limiting the wear-down and fatigue in their thoroughbreds. When a guy lower on the depth chart shows an affinity for a niche, the coach sees that as an opportunity to spell his star without much drop-off.That's all anyone is saying. If Ringer is a good receiver, it may be that a few 3rd down plays per game get tossed his way rather than to CJ. And that isn't going to be seen as a bad thing by Fisher because that keeps CJ fresher later in the game and later in the season. And it would follow that after a hard hit if CJ gets up a little gimpy, or if the Titans have a lead in the 4th quarter, Fisher could be quicker to sub in for CJ or shut him down because Fisher is confident in Ringer and doesn't want to risk further injury to CJ.

funny, i watched the game and other than kickoff returns, i didn't notice javon ringer. and chris johnson only got 15 carries.

so, what happened? are they saving ringer for a rainy day?

Ringer will work his way in at some point. If I'm wrong on that, I'll gladly take the heat for it.

That being said, Lendale looked much better last night. Fisher is a "vet" guy and if Lendale keeps running that hard, Ringer might be relegated to very spotty play.

What game were you watching? White looked terrible and Johnson looked decent. That Pitt run D is the reason he was reasonably held in check. Here is what's going on at Titan HQ right now.Jeff Fisher is sitting at his desk thinking or talking with a staff member saying.....what was I thinking throwing the ball 35 times in such a tight game......what was I thinking only giving the ball to one of the best play makers in the NFL only 15 times.....what was I thinking giving the ball to a "power back" who recently lost 40 lbs 8 times.....I'm an idiot.Next Sunday I'm going to feed Johnson the rock and live or die with the results. There is no reason we shouldn't ride the kid until he breaks down. Now back to the FFG Shark pool.... You wait, Johnson gets the ball a 25 times next week vs. the Texans.....you heard it hear first.

If he gets the rock 25 times.... he might get 1000 yards and 8 tds in one game

thanks to FBG's for forecasting Chris Johnson to only be the 7th ranked RB this weekend! Here is hoping Gore can go for 250 yards and 4 TD's at 4 PM. FML

He has a tough matchup v the Jets next week, does anyone dare to start him or does he lay an egg like he did v Pitt? :lmao:

I hate to say "I told you so" but 16 rushes + 9 receptions = 25 touches.......and look at the results.

Chris Johnson.....UBER STUD...Ya think?

Outside of ADP the most exciting RBin the league.
honestly, AD is probably the better RB, but CJ is electric. It's almost Barry vs. Emmit.
Not exactly, IMO, since Barry was the better RB AND more electric than Emmit.Might be a discussion for a diffeerent thread. :football:

It's really tough having both Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson in a 12 teamer (2 keeper). Sorry, just had to rub it in... would be nice to add Gore to that mix ;-)

Heat coming.Or does "some point" include 2011-2015?

I am going to say props to Shader for pointing this guy out. Clearly he was better than many of us gave himcredit for. He launched LenDale out of town and is not a potential sprain or strain from seeing some real playing itme. He isn't going to unseat CJ and he likely isn't going to spoell him a lot but the Titans cannot give Chris Johnson 400 touches a season, 350+ carries and expect him to hold up. It didn't work with Eddie George and it won't work long term with Johnson.

I would like to see CJ peeled back to about 300 carries and as many receptions as he can haul in. Ringer needs to handle a series here and there so Johnson doesn't wear down too fast. I own Johnson in a few dyansty leagues and I have been trying to pry Javon Ringer away this off season to back him up.

Shader was a year ahead of the curve, not always a bad thing.

FWIW Javon Ringer Impresses In Preseason Action

Javon Ringer's 46-yard run has to feel good for the Titans, who let go of LenDale White this offseason, and didn't add a new running back to replace him. John Hansen of the Fantasy Guru, said Ringer looked like a poor man's Ray Rice.

But, the Titans news at running back was not all good last night. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean is reporting that undrafted running back Stefon Johnson suffered a serious ankle injury last night.

“He has been through so much, and persevered,’’ fullback Ahmard Hall said. “To see that happen to him in a first preseason game, it is heartbreaking. It is like, ‘What else can happen to the guy?’ ’’

But Johnson seems to be taking his injury well. “Bouncing back from trials and tribulations, this is just a bump in the road,’’ Johnson said. “God has brought me back this far, and it felt good to be where I’d gotten to. This is minimum compared to what I have been through, really."

Our best wishes go Johnson's way.

WRT Ringer>>> A cheaper handcuff has never existed.

Unfortunately for the titans>>> the downgrade from johnson to ringer is like that from ADP to Choice
