Jason LaCanfora just retweeted a Mike Sims-Walker tweet, that Chris Johnson's grandmother just passed away. Condolences to he and his family if true.Assuming this is correct, one can only imagine how it might affect him assuming he plays. Putting this out there, will update if more news comes in.

MIKE SIMS-WALKER ‏@MikeSimsWalkerPSA: I need everyone of to say a prayer for @ChrisJohnson28 he lost his grandmother a few min ago and has to find a way to play today!! RTRetweeted by Jason La Canfora

Sorry to hear that. Was she more like a mother than a grandmother? Maybe he can dedicate this game to her and find his lost mojo...

He is not the only player playing with heavy heart this week. Marcel Darius and Antoine Winfield both lost a brother in a senseless shooting.

Would love to see how this might affect his performance today, considering this is a fantasy football message board. Think the moral judges will allow it? Heart goes out to Chris Johnson and his family today. Could really see this going either way, which is basically what we expect from CJ on a weekly basis anyhow.

Wow you are a real humanitarian.....hope he gives you a victory.
I don't own him in any league. Just thinking he could do something for her memory. Why don't you Debbie Downer in some other place on the internet...
Agreed.Doing something you love is a great coping mechanism. Playing a professional sport (which these guys love doing) there is nothing better than going out and leaving it all on the field as a coping mechanism.I don't own CJ anywhere and avoided him at all costs, but I don't think it is bad to say that hopefully he does well and returns to form by taking a bad situation (loss of a loved one) and making a positive out of it (playing well doing something he loves).

Manti Te'o, a LB at Notre Dame, this week lost both his grandmother, and his girlfriend who had leukemia. He decided he wanted to be with his team and went out and had something like 12 tackles against MSU.

But I can't even hardly speculate what it would be like to go play a football game with this kind of news on such short notice. Te'o at least had some time to start grieving.

Could see CJ reacting any number of ways, from going off, to not having his head in the game at all. The latter of which would obviously would be completely understandable, and I think probably how I'd react. Everyone's different though.

Hopefully he has some family there with him.

Here's the thing , he ran for four yards last week, if he does poorly today, saying it's because of his Grandma passing is a tough sell for me. Now, if the guy goes for 200, then there might be some inner emotion coming out by him AND (takes more than 1 person to run the ball well) his teammates.I feel poorly for his Grandma and Johnson's family but as far as fantasy football goes, the excuses are over for him. Plenty of athletes have turned negatives into positives. One of the greatest was when Brett Farve's Dad passed and on Monday night the guy was playing the best game of his career. So if Johnson goes for 25 yards rushing 3 catches for 15 yards, using that his Grandma died and things will be better next week won't work for me.

I didn't even see the word "fantasy" in his statement ... I guess you have never heard about players playing for lost loved ones. <_<
