Chris Simms will be a top-10 QB this year (1 Viewer)

I don't usually talk about FF, generally because I don't care. But this guy has been unreal all camp, has complete command and understanding of the offense, and is surrounded by weapons like Galloway, Clayton, Caddy, Pittman and Alex Smith. Plus, Davin Joseph has already won the RG spot (Simms' blindside), so it's reasonable to expect the line to be at least marginally better this year.

Gruden sort of tied down the offense last season since they were limited at WR, had Caddy and Simms lacked experience -- I think they open it up this year, and they might as well -- the weapons are there.

I don't do projections and I don't care who's with me on this, but I think Simms has a huge season, and if people are taking him at QB24 like FBG has him at, I think you're getting a big steal.

:nerd:

How about some analysis on the WR2 and WR3 position and the performance of the WRs in tonites game please?

I think Simms will be a better QB. But that schedule is brutal. He may have trouble putting up top 10 numbers.

Not only that Cappy, but if he has any problems or questions all he has to do is call good old Dad, one of the best!

Edit to add, I have him locked on as a QB target as a QB stal next weekend!

Well, considering the game is 10 minutes old, you may have to wait.Clayton is the #2, pretty rock solid. #3 will be Boston or Hilliard. Maybe Stovall around mid-season.

I just read somewhere that Boston was on the bubble.

I've considered pulling the trigger on Boston in deep leagues, but the big donut last week didn't help.

i thought he looked very good in that playoff loss to was. i bought him in my acution leaguei think he has some serious potential

Everybody except Galloway, Clayton and Stovall are on the bubble. Lots of WR talent this year. But, I highly doubt Boston gets cut.

He just dropped a catchable pass as well.

Capella, do you think Stovall has a chance to be the #2 when Galloway is gone?

Big, run-blocking wideouts are what Gruden wants. So, I assume that's the plan.Simms just made a big 15-yard pass (to Hilliard), called back by holding.

1-15-TB 30 (5:10) C.Simms pass incomplete to M.Clayton (V.Holliday).

2-15-TB 30 (5:04) C.Simms pass incomplete to I.Hilliard (K.Traylor).

Batted down passes?

I don't think Simms being a top 10 QB is out of the question, but that has more to do with my lack of faith in the guys I currently project to be the 8-12 quarterbacks than it does belief in Simms.

Simms has a lot of talent around him and a very good offensive coach in Gruden, but, as CrossEyed pointed out, he faces a BRUTAL schedule. That is part of the reason I am not so high on Cadillac this year.

First one was, second one Traylor hit his arm as he threw.

People really focus on strength of schedule before the year? I thought somebody showed that paying attention to that before the season starts was useless.

As others have pointed out, Simms has the second hardest schedule in the league (ahead of Brees). Sure if Simms plays 16 games he's got a chance, but I'd imagine other players of similar ability with much easier schedules will pass him by. I'd look elsewhere for my QB2.

I always find myself winding up with Buccaneers on my fantasy clubs. They always seem so underrated. I have no idea why. Its one of the best franchises in the NFL.

I have Galloway and Simms is my QB2.

mmmmmmm.... big donuuuuut....This is actually pretty ironic because when I saw who started this thread I was thinking :homer: .

Hi cappy,We don't have ranked that high but I can see how you'd make a case there. I love the kid. He's always had the talent but since about the middle of last year, it seemed like the "light turned on". I wondered if it would for a while. Gruden's system is tough with lots to remember. You may have seen the NFL films thing on Gruden where Simms can't even repeat the play Gruden is calling and Gruden is going nuts.

But he's got it now. And seems like he's ready to run with it. Clayton staying healthy will be key too.

But I wouldn't be shocked to see him finish in the top 10.

Top 10? UNLIKELY! The schedule is brutal no matter how you slice it and he's still relatively inexperianced.

BUT>>>I took him late as my QB2 and sleeper. I suspect he'll be more then serviceable as a QB2, and I expect him to land in the QB 13-16 area.....an above average QB2 at best, a serviceable QB2 at worst. QB25 is definately not giving him, hi weapons, or his coach nearly enough credit.

:boxing:

Nice call Capella, any other guys you have top ten that I can avoid? :coffee:
Do you add anything to this place?Ask around, I've been a lot more right on the Bucs here than I've been wrong. Unlike you and your threads in the FFA, I won't cower in the corner and avoid my bad calls.
