Christmas 2017 - What are you getting the wife? (1 Viewer)

Btw last year my wife needed a new phone. I tell her ill buy her one for xmas. She says that's not a gift.

This year our camera broke. I told her that's a good idea for a Xmas gift. Again she says that's not a gift.

I need a new wife.

got her a new iPad 128 GB. Hers was old and slow and she smashed it on our basement floor a couple months ago.

and pjs

Went all in this year. Trip to NY to see Springsteen and Hamilton. Told her her gift is going to count for Xmas, birthday and anniversary. For the next 3 years.

Same here.  Wife’s 5S battery goes from 30% to 2% in minutes.  Waiting for a sweet deal on a 6, 7, or 8.

Since several of us are in the market, PLEASE POST IN HERE if and where good deals can be had and I will do the same.
Look at Gazelle for reconditioned/used phones.

One of those cheap copper pans and some assorted trinkets for her stocking

I also agreed to put in a new bathroom floor, I think there's some dispute on the timeframe though

I'm intrigued - got 3 women in the house with long hair and it's always some fighting going on for hair dryers.  You say life changer - does it just dry your hair really fast or is there something I'm missing here?
It really does dry the hair a lot faster.  The time my wife spends under a hair dryer is pretty significant.

Don't know much about the technology myself, but its supposed to blow air at the optimal temperature and not over heat.  I guess most hair dryers get too hot and damage the hair (gets hotter the longer they run), which leads to more time at the salon.  I can't tell personally, but she swears her hair is in the best condition ever.  I'll take her word for it.

My wife got a long weekend out of town (last weekend) and me paying for a writing conference in the Spring. I also got her to FINALLY do an Amazon wish list and got a few things for her to open on Christmas morning. Now all I need to do is to get some scratch off lottery tickets for the stockings and I'm dunzo on the Christmas shopping.

:lmao:  One of my favorite threads of the year.

One thing that has become a staple is something from UGG. She picks her own boots, but something else like a pair of slippers, gloves, robe, hat, vest, etc. seems to go over pretty well. Who knew they made so much ####?

Sonos One

Ugg knit hat & gloves

My wife used to be a figure skater, and is still pretty darn good at it. She's always wanted to skate at Rockefeller Center so I'm taking her there before the tree and all the holiday decorations come down. Already have a reserved time for the last skate of the night, so no worries about the line or it being overly crowded (hopefully?). Also seeing a show at the Comedy Cellar and maybe The Tonight Show. Oh yeah, definitely going to visit Other Half brewery as well. Looking forward to it. She's gonna love it.

On that note, any other recommendations for things to do in NYC? I haven't been there in a while. Hoping to snag some cheap Broadway tickets to a decent show. Book of Mormon seems like something we'd both enjoy.

So I pulled the trigger this weekend.  ATT had a buy one, get one free offer for an iPhone 8.  In addition to my wife’s 5S crapping out, I was running a 5C, so a 2 phone deal was perfect for us.  While they overcomplicate the process for how the free one gets funded, at the end of the day, it is a true BOGO.

EUFY robotic vacuum was a hit for Mother's Day.  Very effective and much less expensive than the iRobot.

For Christmas?  Ugh.  I might run up to the local jewelry store this morning.

She's getting new leather gloves for winter that have electronic device capability. Also new rain/winter boots. These are practical, I know, but she complains about needing these things but fails to get them for herself.

One thing I thought of this year was to get her an HP Sprocket pocket size printer. It wirelessly prints wallet sized pics from a smart phone and its small enough to fit in a purse. Our kids love to look at pics on our iphones (particularly, hers) and I thought this would give her the opportunity to print off some of them and give to the kids kinda like trading cards and/or stickers they can put on stuff.

The hope is this will keep them entertained for a while and I might get to watch some football in peace. The likely reality is they will still keep me from watching the games and I will have a bunch of wallet sized pics to pick up all over the house. What can you do?

We don’t usually exchange gifts, but this year we’re on vacation.  It sucks for Mrs. O because she doesn’t get to put up the tree and all the other decorations.  A vacation in paradise is a pretty sweet alternative, right?  Often times we’ll split a pair of earrings.  Always gemstone studs.  I found a great deal on Black Friday for some ruby and emerald studs in white gold.  I bought them and split the pair so each box has one ruby and one emerald stud.  Christmas colors, get it?  I gave them to her on our long flight the other day.  She loves them.  She’s also getting a spa day on Christmas so I think she’s set.

I got hit with Mothers day, anniversary and Bday in a 12 day span.  I hit a homer with the Dyson Hair Dryer

Its $400, so it might make a nice stocking stuffer for some you guys.
I got this with your tip.  Big thanks.   I couldn't for the life of me think of anything to get her this year.    She is the type of person that just gets whatever she needs/wants so very difficult to buy for.  Also, she is always saying, "I don't need anything for Christmas...don't get me anything."   F that  trap.     Thanks again.

All new kitchenware plates, silverware and knives.  I did this a few years ago and it went over big.  I'm the only one that really cooks in the house but the wife likes when it all "looks nice".  The dishes we have now are a little banged up and god knows where half the silverware has gone to (I'm guessing kids/guests threw them in the trash by mistake dumping plates).

Just bought her the Apple Watch 5 Hermès edition. Fingers crossed it’s a hit. She has an older Apple Watch and loves it.
