Chrs Johnson owners (1 Viewer)

I sent out an offer to the Jamaal Charles owner where I send CJ for Andre Johnson straight up. Redraft, 0.5 PPR.

He asked me to leave the offer open while he considers. It is under consideration.

I just made an offer for CJ but after reading this thread, I cant decide if I want to buy (it would cost me-not buying low) or stay away

I offered Starks, got a sarcastic reaction from the owner, and acted like I didn't think he would see it so soon and canceled the offer.

Maybe in a day or two I throw out a Peyton Hillis offer. This will probably take some gamesmanship to not overpay.

offered to a Shaub owner Andre/Gore/Ingram for CJ2k/Vjax
Without seeing the rosters, this seems like a fair trade for both. That was kind of where I was leaning. I offered Hightower, Torain, Julio Jones and Gates (I have Graham and A Hernandez) for CJ, Ringer and F Jackson

The Ravens were COMPLETELY selling out to stop the run on Sunday. I think they thought they could manhandle the Titans by stopping Johnson and running Rice. The Titans have the best O-line in football and Matt Hasselbeck - in the course of a single week - went from "new guy lining up under center" to "very comfortable back here, especially with all this time to look around for my receivers." Johnson will be fine. For the first time in about 6 years the Titans have a receiver that has to be schemed for and a quarterback that can get him the ball. Expect Johnson to start seeing more space in the coming weeks.
This. You all are going to forget this thread when cj blows up in the next few weeks.

Just traded Gore & Shonn Greene in a TD-heavy league and owner accepted in 5 minutes. Seems like a fair deal for both teams as he had no 2nd back. The first game CJ played I give him a mulligan. The 2nd game he got 24 carries against a Top 3 run defense and he's still not quite back to game shape/speed. Aside from Pitt and Jacksonville, he faces all bottom half run defenses (through 2 weeks of stats) the remainder of the year. He's too talented not to get his production. Also, Tennessee's offense is looking much better this year which will only help him.

As a CJ dynasty owner, there is nobody I would trade him for (i already have AP, so thats out the window)
LOOK AT ME I HAVE PETERSON AND CHRIS JOHNSON!!!11!!!ONE!!!uno!!!!!

please note the use of comic sans, indicating the jovial manner with which this mocking sarcastic message should be read, as noted in William R Wellingford's monumental treatise "Font Types and their Emotional Impact: The true power of Helvetica" available at your local bookseller.

His value has not changed one bit since when I took him. In a standard league, I'd only accept Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, or Lesean McCoy for him.

Wow, listening to a lot of you guys, I way overpaid. We will have to see how it goes.I gave Hillis and Hernandez for CJ2K and Manningham in a non ppr redraft
Nah, you didn't overpay. Looking at the schedule, CJ is poised for a nice run here in the next few weeks and the fantasy playoffs. These offers are short sighted and shouldn't even be considered.
Really. When I saw some of the goofy offers and discouragement in this thread, I had to go back and make sure we were all talking about the same Chris Johnson. This is the 25 yr old one with 5,700+ yards and 38 TDs in 3 yrs, right? That one?

I don't know that I'm buying CJ1K. He isn't taking what he's been given dating back to last year and has a lot of carries ... adding up to more boom or bust days and an increased injury risk. That said, the passing game is looking up which could lead to more boom than bust. I'd put him as a mid to late RB1 which probably means owners wouldn't trade him to me.

What would you expect in return for Chris Johnson
i own him and could not trade him nowhis value is awful right now, you have to ride him out
+1 cant trade him rt now. and omnce he busts out with a few great games you wont want to trade him anymore anyway unless you are getting something stupid crazy good in return...like arodg and an elite WR. He is a hold.

Someone in my 14-team .5PPR league just traded away:

CJ

Greg Olsen

Jacquizz Rodgers

Deangelo

Nate Washington and....wait for it...Earnest Graham!?

There are no words. The admin of the league pulled off the trade for CJ....a week after he acquired Frank Gore, Maclin and Washington for Reggie Bush, Plaxico and McCluster. Wtf?! Never hurts to throw out an offer, I guess.

For those curious of current market value:

Just dealt Miles Austin, Shonn Greene, and LT for Chris Johnson and Mario Manningham (Non PPR)

Of course injuries to both WRs make it difficult to evaluate fully, but I thought it was a fair deal for both ends.

Shonn Greene, and LT are useless ... So that's basically Miles Austin for Chris Johnson and Mario ManninghamThrow in the fact that Austin is out for the next couple of weeks and it's nothing for Chris Johnson and Mario Manningham

My 2 cents... The real issue is the lack of mobility at QB. Chris Johnson has always been a beast when Vince Young plays QB and he's always been a bust when any other QB plays. The number DON'T LIE. Seriously, just look... Here's my guess as to why: Chris Johnson's whole game is speed based. The extra bit of time he got with Vince Young at QB from linebackers (i.e. Vince Young's running ability put the linebackers in check) made all the difference in the world. CJ's numbers were never spectacular with a pocket passer as the primary QB. The bulk of CJ's great stats came with Vince Young at QB. Not trying to scare anyone but there may be something intrinsically off with CJ running in conjunction with a pocket passer. It's kind of a wild theory but just look at the numbers and you'll see. :banned:
well the pocket passer was Collins who is a fossil so it's not as if there's a wealth of comparison information to go on. Yes, he performed better with Young until Young fell apart again last year. It basically boils down to having another threat for the defense to worry about...when they had the pocket passer they had no receivers to take the pressure or make the defense respect anything other than the threat of CJ running. When Young was in there they still had no passing threat but they needed to be conscious of Young's running ability so they couldn't completely sell out against the run.It doesn't boil down to pocket passer vs. non-pocket passer, it boils down to a balanced offense where the defense has to worry about more than solely selling out to stop the run. With Britt/Hass they just may have that threat.
This is an excellent post. It has absolutely nothing to do with pocket vs. non-pocket passer. It has everything to do with a balanced offence. All the successfull offences have both a strong passing and running attack.Either CJ gets shutdown this season and Matt Hasselbeck passes for 6,000 yards and 50 TD's, or CJ gets back to his old ways running for 50+ yard touchdowns. Something has to give here......

That doesn't appear to be a very good deal for the guy getting nothing.

Was thinking of offering my leagues CJ2K owner Welker & Sproles for CJ2K. Almost feel like I'd be giving away to much, with how much play Sproles has seen (and he has looked amazing in all of it) and Brady throwing almost 1000 yds in the first two games. However, his WRs are Jennings, Deion Branch, Plax, Malcom Floyd. So he could definitely use the help at WR while he has Felix, Turner, Green-Ellis and Caddy at RB. Think only offering Welker or Sproles instead of both would be an insult? Or suitable at this point in the year?

I believe this would be an insulting offer. Both is a bot more respectable.I still think it's a rejection with both offered.

Reading the offers for CJ in this thread have been painful. Whats with the lowball offers? Iv seen Turner and Garcon for CJ, Beanie Wells and Marshall for CJ, Welker and Sproles for CJ, Miles Austin and S.Greene for CJ, if there are any owners that are willing to sell CJ that fast, then I would jump on any of the aforementioned offers, without question. Then again, your probably in a league with newer guys to FF. There shouldnt be any owner looking to trade CJ that LOW. He was drafted Top 3-5 in most drafts, and now your going to sell him after two bad games (one against BALT who shut down Mendenhall the week previous)? Doesnt make much sense at all. Im not suggesting you pay more than market value for CJ, but some of those offers arent even in the same sport, let alone the same ballpark, as to what I would want if I were trading CJ away.

Missed my offer (a little more enticing to me)...In a redraft, I have offered SJax, Austin & Finley (have ADP, Best, Tate... VJax & Maclin) for CJ & Evans. Still waiting to hear from the other owner.

In a redraft I would take Blount in a second, hell I would love to be offered Fred Jackson. Titans are in turmoil.
they just beat the crap outta the ravens who were practically penciled into the afc title game after walloping pittsburgh. this week vegas has them 7 point favorites. defense has been great. passing game has been great. i dunno man, turmoil doesnt seem the appropriate description at this juncture.

This thread needs to be stickied. There's some crazy talk in here. Some of these trades are nuts. Hightower and sproles? Yikes.

Made an offer of Hillis and Wells for CJ3 and Aaron Hernendez. He declined. I'm mildly relieved. I know Hernandez is banged up but I wasn't gonna just hand him two starters for one. Hillis and Wells seem to be at the top of every ones's "Sell High" list.

What about trading Jahvid Best for Chris Johnson? The epitome of selling high and buying low? Or is CJ too risky?
I have CJ and would not trade him for best right now. But it is pretty close. If he can't get on his pony and ride this week against the pitiful Broncos and again next week against the Brownies, I'm going to shop him. But I have a feeling he's going to go off to the tune of about 150 this weekend.

In my ppr league this trade just went through

C J and A Collie

for

S Smith (Car.) and D Thomas (Mia.)

I don't like this trade but CJ's owner is a known points chaser.

Not looking to trade him. I always have trouble trading away top players. I have good depth, so I don't have roster spots to burn.

Hard to trade a top player away, as it usually requires getting a top player in return, for it to make sense.

Most people trying to acquire top players are looking to package players for the top player, condensing talent and scoring potential into their starting lineups. I can't blame them. But I'm very seldom in the position that that (acquiring more players for one) becomes appealing to me.

Would I trade him for Andre Johnson straight up? Yes. That fits what my current team needs.

I just offered Mike Tolbert + Desean Jackson for Chris Johnson and Jacoby Ford. That value seems pretty close with Tolbert perhaps a "sell high" and Johnson a "buy low"

I'd have been laughed at for that offer before the first week. Now it seems much closer to even. But I'm still buying low on Johnson IMO.

man, dont see how he turns that down. i guess a start 1 or 2 rb league but still wow.

sweet jeebus people, this is what Chris Johnson does. He goes for 16-34 and no TDs, then blows up for 125 and 2TDs the next week. Factor in his holdout and the new O and he's bound to have some wildly inconsistent play to start the season.

Even during his 2k yard season he had only a single 100 yd game out of the first 5.

Not time to panic...yet
