WTF? I'm a TH level 4 and level 19 and some dude just sent 8 balloons, 20 wizards, 15 goblins, 5 giants and 10 barbarians to crush me. How does that match even get made? Or is that because his clan gave him all that stuff?

Top players often drop trophies intentionally for easy resource wins. They still have not done a good job at making trophies worth anything.
Matches are made based on trophy level.

Seems insane still. He beat me for a 100% win and only got like 4k gold and 5k elixer.
They need to come up with some formula that includes trophies, TH level, player level, and some sort of net worth calculation and then matchmake based on that as well as make severely diminishing returns for attacking down.

made the plunge to lvl 4 th. got my butt kicked earlier in a raid at th lvl 3, but had upgraded everything to max besides the walls.

and these fn stones and bushes are in the way of getting my base laid out right :( 10k to remove is alot at this point

I kept raiding and stayed th3 until all walls were upgraded and rocks removed. I am almost done with th4 upgrade, before the upgrade I set my town hall out of the walls so someone could give me a 16 hour shield ;D its about to expire I might do that again to beef up security

I've been pushing to get to that 1250 mark to buy the third builder but at TH5 I just can't seem to get there. Victories are netting me about 10 trophies (and I have to be really picky about who I attack) and every time I lost one I drop about 25 trophies. Couple that with getting smoked every night without a shield and I can't get over that hump.
I think I need to just sit back, go into slow play mode, and wait until I am TH6 or 7 to make that push again.
Unless, of course, someone wants to donate me hog riders a dozen times or so to tip the scales.

I figured I'd #### 10 bucks and get the 1200 or so gems. Was enough to get 2 builders, which seems to help.
I'm still at TH3 and basically winning every battle, offense and defense, at about 25 trophies a pop. I think I'm going to stay there until I do all the lab upgrades and finish a complete set of level 3 walls (about halfway there). At this rate I'll be close to 750 trophies before I even make it to TH4. I'm in no hurry to level up and get crushed.

ive been placing a goblin away from where I want to attack to draw the initial mortar fire, then release the bomb goblin to open the wall then sent the giants and barbs behind them. im lvl th 4
seems to be working good. and releasing barbs periodically

It seems like the returns for attacking do diminish well. I mean the guy dropped a ton of cash invading you, lost opportunity cost of his time, and netted what for his effort? A couple k? He's the moron.

Interested to get any feedback on my base layout from you vets. Level 5 TH. GregR account has the more advanced build, my shield ends in 7 hours.
I tried to make it so anyone dropping in front of base gets funneled into kill zone, and still cover back and sides decently well. Am thinking maybe I should have built further against back edge of map so it's not as easy to lure castle defending units away from cover of base.

I played this game alot when it came out, but sort of quit and picked up battle islands which is this one's WW2 clone. That one has hardly anyone playing it now so I'll probably quit it and come back to this one. Only problem is I don't have IOS during the day so I'll be hopelessly behind the curve from those that can just farm all day long.

Also, the new clan that requires invite is fbgs if you're not in it yet. We bailed on the old one that anyone could join.
People not in it yet, just find it in game and send a request to join and mention the FFA in your message and we can add you when we see the invite request in game

Or if the issue is just OS, you can have the same game on Apple and Android. There's an option to link devices. You can also use BlueStacks, an Android emulator, to play it on Windows.
With Android, it automatically linked my laptop and desktop's Android games based on my google login. I left my iPad game on it's own account so I can play both separately.

re: GregR - Anything that is currently being worked on/upgraded by the builders is currently useless to you while the uprade is going on. Take them out from inside your walls and replace them with things that are valuable to you - gold mine, elixer collector, etc. Anything being worked on should be outside of your walls.

re: GregR2 - same thign - take those 2 archer towers that are being upgraded and move them out and replace with gold mine and elixer drill.

need to get some balloons... (which means need to upgrade storage and get 80k elixer to upgrade rax, but still). Next though I want to get my archers to lvl 2, seems like I use them more then the barbs - should have upgraded them first.

Not a fan of the balloons. They are slow, and you need to get rid of the air defense and wizards towers before you can even deploy them. And then archers still eat them up.

Thanks for the advice. I'm under a shield for awhile still, should have all my defenses finished upgrade (or low cost enough to finish with a gem) when my shield finishes.

There are two clans names fbgs. One is invite only and one is open. You want the invite only clan.
