Either do one at a time, or stay logged in and active while they're both upgrading. I don't think you can be attacked if you're logged in and active*.

Yeah, I'm waiting for someone to take out my lightly defended TH so that I can do my defensive upgrades while I have a shield on.

Yes, focus on having one worker doing long projects, and one that does the short time stuff. This (in general) prevents your stores from filling up too soon and making you vulnerable to attacks.

Or just don't carry a lot of money and it won't matter.

Also...if you find that you are extremely addicted to this game, and you think you will be playing it for the next 6 months, plop down 20 bucks and get you 5 workers. Makes things way faster, and 20 bucks is a fraction of what you spend on a PS4 game!

 
Most of these games give you the opportunity to watch some pyramid scheme youtube videos in exchange for cash monies. I don't see one here, but I can't say I've looked that hard.

 
what I do before I know ill be turning the game off for a while, ill max out my barraks with the most exspensive unit then just cancel all when I start game back up. 100% refund

 
got hit again with a goblin horde attack. dudes move so quick it was hard for my mortar to hit them, especially with my cannons being down.

 
I think this has been discussed before, but how good are balloons?

A lot of my matchups don't have air defense (I don't). Can I crank out a handfull of balloons to take out cannons and waltz right in for an easy raid?

Archer and Wizard towers can hit balloons in addition to the normal air defense tower.

In my experience, low level balloons aren't great. They are useful if you can take out the air defense and then occupy the archer towers. But a good situation to use them doesn't pop up enough to justify carrying them since they take up a lot of space.

I just bailed on them. I take a few bombs, a bunch of giants, and the rest is all archers and goblins.

Not sure that worth it if you're active - you want to be attacking. Far more gold available from raiding then through collectors...

I can't even get through defeating the goblins in single player
 
Early single player, the balloon is very good. Against people, not as much, although I have carried one most of the time and there are occasionally bases where it comes in handy at lower levels when people are less likely to have very good towers. A few archers to take down the archer tower if they put it near a wall, and then send in the balloon to take out mortar and cannons, for a low cost win.

Agree it's not as much use against tougher opponents. I need to drop it out of my army now.

 
Do fighters defend as well as attack? In other words, is developing a large army comparable to developing defense mechanisms? Or are the characters offensive in nature only?

 
Ok, looks like the free guides all say there isn't a good way to get gems offline like some others games like this. So if you are trying to do this free then holdoff to buy a 3rd worker and ultimately a 4th if stay with it for long enough.

 
Running a goblin horde army today and it has been freaking awesome. I go with 1 wallbreaker that usually goes unused, 3-4 giants and the rest goblins.

I just look for someone whose mortar I can get my giants to quickly, unleash them, then as soon as the mortar is gone I have two options:

1) If I think my giants can take out the rest of the defenses near the resources I wait until they're done and then send in a handful of goblins to tear up the collectors and storage.

2) If I think my giants will end up killed off, I immediately flood the area with my goblins. They're so freaking fast that they can typically just about clean out the resources before they're picked off.

Sweet way to gain loot, especially if you don't care if you lose trophies.

So how do I increase my barracks which needs 80,000 elixer when my max is 51,000

What do I need to upgrade to get more room

Upgrade your elixer storage. It will cost a lot of gold and take a long time, but it will give you 100k capacity.

Occasionally they will run promotions where it will only cost 1 gem to boost your collectors for 24 hours. That's when you can spend quite a few gems and horde some resources quickly.

I'd build a laboratory, and upgrade the guys to lvl 2 before worrying about the next rax upgrade

Everytime you upgrade your Town Hall it opens up more things. Some things are far more helpful than others, The Barbarian King at Level 8 is a massive help.

 
Well I'm at around 600 trophies, and just got to the point where higher level people (just upgraded to TH 4) are getting matched up against me and running roughshod over my defenses. Not much I can do against the higher level units or guys who can throw 120 archers/barbs at me. Upside is that they only end up taking a small percentage of my loot so it's not a big deal.

 
I am stuck at Town Hall Level 5. Upgrade is $750,000. I don't think I can accumulate that much without buying a very long shield.

Just keep upgrading walls and other defenses?

Upgrade everything before moving up a TH level. That should be the last thing you do.

Once you have your gold mines and everything else upgrade, accumulating the money needed shouldn't be much of a problem. If nothing else, go out and chase resources from other players. If you pick smart battles you can get $30-50K per attack.

 
I haven't been that systematic. Wish I could go back. My levels are all over the place.

My mines are Level 9

Elixers mix of 7 and 6

Towers and Cannons Level 5

The allowed level ups don't all move together. Just max everything out. At TH5, mines and collectors can get to 10. Cannons and towers can go to 6, but mortars can only be like 3.

Just upgrade until it won't let you anymore, including (and maybe especially) the wall. I'm a TH5 myself right now and am just upgrading as fast as I can. It's annoying that it takes me 3 days to upgrade a mine, so it will be at least a couple weeks until I am ready to upgrade.

If you are upgrading a mortar or cannon and get attacked do they stop the upgrade and start firing?

Nope. You're vulnerable. I specifically left my TH exposed to get a 12 hour shield to do my mortar upgrade in.

Right, so it is highly recomended not to upgrade multiple defensive units at the same time.

Also, as has been said before, you can move a defensive unit outside of your walls while you are upgrading and replace it with a mine, or collector in the meantime.

same strat, works pretty well.. that mortar can own a pack of gobs though so make sure they arnt anywhere near the giants

 
Bene getting my butt kicked in raids against any half-decent defenses. even ones which look vulnerable that I think I should be able to take, inevitably my units get caught up in something and their mortar takes me out. Not enough giants? i'll send in 4-5, but they'll start wailing on a cannon, and the mortar in the center kills em.

 
Maybe I should try the goblin horde idea. They'll be lvl 2 in an hour, so the upgrade might help that strat.

just stick your town hall outside for them to attack . that way you get a 16 hour shield

then fortify all resources behind upgraded walls and canons
