Can someone invite me to the clan? My username is Jason in CoC.

I have been playing for over a year now and am at TH8 with lvl 5 archers/goblins/barbs. I was in a clan once and got tired of the typical innerwebs kids. Being in a good clan will be a nice change I think.

Thanks.
babyarm?

I really screwed up my thought process on upgrading to TH5. I'm about 35k away from being able to, but then for 2 days, I only will have one field to upgrade (100k elixir) and a troop upgrade of 150k that I don't care about (balloons). Guess this weekend will be about maxing out my storage and then Sunday afternoon going on a shopping spree.
Ya next time don't wait as long. Don't take "max upgrade everything before your next TH upgrade" so literally. In fact, I suggest going a little sooner than even u might think. You will get more done as have more fun -- new things to buy with super cheap/quick upgrades, more walls, etc. Getting blasted by someone is a little overrated, I mean who really cares. You're gonna get blasted on any TH level if the right person runs into u. You likely won't be storing alot of gold and elix anyways. Just don't go nuts from TH upgrade to the next TH upgrade to the next. That's where people mess up.
Agreed. Will be more mindful next time and leave some things to upgrade during the TH upgrade time.

I'm a newb but really getting hooked on this 'lil game. I've sent an invite. Pick me! Pick me! :suds:

CLAN NAME: fbgs

There are two with the same name. Pick the invite only one. Anyone in the clan can then add you. Be sure to indicate the FFA in your request to join.

Thanks, that was quick! Now I just have to figure out how to donate. Who needs some level 2 goblins? ;)

How do you donate? I see how to request (and within seconds I had some donations!), now I need to learn what to do with those troops, and how to reciprocate.

So, more "things I was too oblivious to notice".

When you're in the barracks screen, instead of hitting a troop button 15 times to queue them up, you can just hold down the button and after a second or two it'll scroll them fast.

Also, when you are setting up your base, notice how if you move a building and then drop it, for a second or two you'll see a white halo around the building a grid square away from it. You can't just click on the building, you have to move it and release it, even if just back to the same spot you picked it up from.

Any squares inside the brighter white are places that an attacker cannot spawn his troops. Anything not in brighter white can be a place troops will spawn. This is how you can tell if, for example, you're leaving a gap inside of your walls where someone can spawn inside them. You can also use it to see just how close you're letting people get to your walls to spawn their troops by doing this. I've got my resources ringing my walls close in, then a ring of non-resource buildings outside of it (builders, lab, spell hut, barracks, camps) that don't leave in gaps in that white halo. This way wall breakers and other units have to spawn far away from my walls, making it more difficult for someone to time getting them to the wall between mortar shots or my other units firing on them. Though they can mow down my non-essential buildings, all I care about right now are resources, not trophies, so no loss.

When someone else requests, the chat window will show their name with a Donate button. Click on it, and it brings up a window with your troops on it. Click on the ones you want to give.

To use the troops on defense, if you're offline just leave them in your castle, and if an enemy shows up inside the white radius you see when you click on the building, they leave the castle to fight them.

To use them on offense, when you're actually doing the attack, you'll see the clan shield as one of the options of types of troops you can deploy in the battle. Just click on it and and on the map and they'll spawn at that location.

When cycling through villages to hit, I saw one defensive setup that was really interesting. It was a guy that was several TH levels above me so he had a lot more walls available than me. He had single sections of wall spaced out quite a ways out from his central setup on two sides of his village. They were kind of a zigzag pattern so kind of like this:

. ' . ' . ' . '

It forced spawns to be all the way out to about the edge of the map on those sides. So there was a HUGE buffer troops had to cross to get to the central area where they would be attacked the whole way while crossing.

I'm not sure if those walls would actually hold troops up more if an enemy had to actually break through them, but it was interesting anyway.

Thanks! So, the troops on defense, are they one-time use? Like a trap? Or do they stay until I deploy them in a raid?

If they get pulled out in defense, they are gone.

Got a nice shield break. Gonna let my mines build up cash monies for th5. We have some serious ranked guys in teh clanz.

Anyone else get notifications on their device that troops are ready before they're actually ready in-game? So annoying.

I found that dropping trophies on purpose doesn't help too much at lower levels (My TH is lvl4 and have ~500 trophies).

When you drop to around 500 trophies, the easy targets with lots of resources are very hard to find. Most just have a few thousand gold and elixer. Towns with lots of G&E are fellow sandbaggers with lots of defense.

Oh well, it'll be a whole day until my giants are researched into level2 so I'll be poor for a while. And no one will attack me and give me sheild cuz I have nothing to loot.

Yeah, I gotta figure out how to turn off notifications on this in general. If I forget to mute notifications at night this stupid thing is dinging anytime something finishes or some Japanese guy attacks me.

My experience as well. I'm trying to level back up. I was having a lot of success in the upper 600 trophy range from a raiding perspective.

I plan on going on a raid binge some time this weekend so I can get 750 tropies and the 10 gems for the accomplishment.

Although, if people keep insta-surrenderring to me, I may not need to work very hard to get trophies.

Once you have the forth builder, what's the best use of gems?
CoC will run specials where u can boost your gold mines and elix producers for one day at the cost of only 1 gem each. Normally it's 10 or something. Over Xmas/new years its was around 3 weeks long. So do the math, you always want to keep at least that much in reserve. Other than that, I'd horde them til later in the game when upgrades cost more and u can buy the extra coin that way.

Update: I'm back up to 650 and it's much easier to find easy targets with resources stock piled. I think our theory was correct.

I'm dumb. Figured out how to turn off notifications for CoC. That was easy. No more notifications at 3am that Chin Yu attacked me.

Does the shield get longer when you sustain more damage?
Yes there are two shields you can receive....12 hours and 16 hours. I believe that you get the 12 for any attack on you that results in a loss. You get 16 when your city reaches something like 80% destruction.

Just joined the clan (thanks Greg, who was just going to bed at 4am :nerd: ) Won't be very active for a while, have a long race today & then a week long business trip but I'll do what I can. TH4, about 400 trophies so still trying to figure all this out.

Good to know!

Damn this company prints money!

There is a war one too, Boom Beach. Same concept it looks like.

Launched in Dec. No doubt the guys who blow thier load on CoC will fork over the dough to get on top of the leaderboard in this one too.

I remember when the Lvl 11 walls came out in CoC (the fire ones I think) One guy had them all upgraded in a day, I think the calculation was $1000 or something in gems.

I think this is wrong. Just like on attack, if they get used they cannot be used again.

Had some good gold raids, TH5 upgrade has begun :) Still have some walls to go,but I figure I can work on them during the 2 days it'll take this upgrade to complete....
