With so many of the players being new, it's a little hard to measure inactivity. They might just be light on trophy collection and spending all their time upgrading their base.
I think in a few weeks we'll start to see some folks drop out. Would be cool if anyone that quit playing pulls a TLEF and at least tells the group about it so we can replace them.

There is an achievement for breaking walls. Looks like you just made some great progress against that. Go find some guy and unleash.I was trying to hide elixer before I logged off last night so I loaded up my queues with wall breakers. Some how I ####ed up because now I have 24 wallbreakers in my camp and a bunch of archers and barbs in my barracks queue
If nothing else, he'll get a laugh when he logs on and sees that he was bombarded by bombs.

Ok guys, I am level 70 in a different clan, but I wanted to drop a couple of tips.
I find that upgrading in this order withs best: mortars, wizard towers, archer towers, cannons. Mortars and wizard towers are splash damage and hit more than one enemy whereas cannons and archer towers target single enemies.
Also, if you stack yiur defenses in lines you get multiple hits on the same target for higher damage. Go wizard tower, archer tower, mortar and watch how their ranges all line up. The minute they are in the range of anything, everything is hitting them.
Giants are your best friend. At my level I can have 210 troops. I go 14 giants, 8 wall breakers, 80 archers and 40 barbs. I don't really use much else and I have no problems.
Max out Giants. The level 6 upgrade is worth it. I stayed at 5 with archers and barbs. Level 6 gives you about 10% more HP and damage, but their cost increases by 50%. Not worth it.
Pink walls are insanely expensive. Stuck with gold until you are like level 50-60. That's when the goblin battles get easier. Level 35-50 on those give some really good loot and you can use that loot for upgrades. Most if those can be best with nothing more than barbs and archers and giants as decoys to draw fire.

I've seen some folks talking about ROI on upgrades, which ones are worth it, etc. Just curious how much this matters to most players. I guess I'm confused why it matters.
To me, there is no end state to this game short of maxing out your base, getting all of the achievements, and clearing the campaign map. I'm not trying to be the fastest to anything. I'm not trying to top the leaderboard for trophies. So I don't get why whether an upgrade is worth it would enter my thought stream. I max everything I can without regard to value.
Not criticizing here. I just genuinely am not sure why any upgrade wouldn't eventually be undertaken in a game like this where nothing is finite (time, resources, etc.)

I dunno, level a little faster. Or it's just something to think about. Unlike some MMO games you can't get reset in this one, yes. So there is not a ton of disincentive to just max everything at your own pace, or even just by mining and turtling.

Ugh. I was trying to dump a few trophies while waiting for my army to finish building up and of course I ran across the 3 juiciest targets I got all day 
If I had had my full army to attack, I had an easy 150k in gold from the first one.

I usually use an archer or 2 on an exposed elixir collector to dump trophies, so I can earn back the price of the troops used.
At level 82, elixir is much more valuable to me than gold. Costs me about 100,000 elixir for a full army ( usually 24 Giants, 8 wall breakers, 2 healers, 12 barbs, 12 goblins, 20 or so archers)

Too many giants. I can usually do the same with 15-16 giants as I go with 24, there's some diminishing returns imo. Also I like to build a single balloon to send in with my giants BEFORE sending in healers (assuming the closest AA son't isnta-kill it). That way you bait out any seeking air mines and the healers are free to heal.Learned this the hard way too. Dang so u could go to battle with approx 30 giants if they are in your castle. I'd mess up and not get all the loot by deploying the small troops too soon. I make something like 15 giants, 25 barbs (to handle king/queen), 50 archers, 40 gobs and 8 breakers. Haven't used healers in a while. I definitely don't think my setup is ideal but I'm comfy with it. Sometimes I mix in 10 hogs and that's fun.

Tips on how to use Hogs:
Strategy 1: All-Out
Needed: 20-28 Hogs, 20-25 Barbs, 20-25 Archers, 1 Giant (pop deep Clan Castles), 15-20 Goblins, 4-6 Wallbreakers
Needed: Somehow include 5-8 Hogs into your favorite composition
Strategy 1: All-Out
Needed: 20-28 Hogs, 20-25 Barbs, 20-25 Archers, 1 Giant (pop deep Clan Castles), 15-20 Goblins, 4-6 Wallbreakers
- Always pop their clan castle (Giant) and kill their hero units with 20-25 barbs/archers FIRST
- Use them in groups, and keep them together (Deploy them at the same time)
- Use healing spells around the defenses they are likely to go to next
- Continue dropping healing spells as they move across the base until you think they'll destroy everything else
- Once a side of the base is gone, send in some wallbreakers to make a hole for the rest of your troops to go in and raid the loot
- Avoid bases with Inferno Towers (TH10)
Needed: Somehow include 5-8 Hogs into your favorite composition
- Use the Hogs to get at those pesky defenses behind walls that your wallbreakers and giants couldn't get it.
- Make sure to use 1 healing spell on them to ensure they take out the entire area of defenses (it can overlap to where your giants are to help heal them if needed).
- This will take out 4-6 defenses on their own, and can be used to take out well-placed AA's to ensure your Healers (and other Air Units) stay alive.

Hmmm, I'm a bit torn here. I see where you're going with this. But since the wizard tower can do more damage, I'd think we would want cannons and archers in front of it. So those have to be eliminated first, allowing your wizard tower to stay alive and be doing damage for longer over the course of the fight.SoCalBroncoFan said:

Thinking it's time to save up for TH6. All my defenses are upgraded to the max.... Walls and collectors are not, but I don't think I'll wait on them. Going to take a little bit to save up 750k at a shot anyway, might be a big target while I store that much...

I played around with swapping out the wiz tower and mortar... Downside of wiz at the middle, is that archers can hit your storages without the tower getting them - that's bad, so I've got my mortar at the center currently. Downside to that, is that they can attack the other direction and wiz tower doesn't hit them. That said - I almost never get raided, other then hit on my TH that take 1k gold and 5 trophies and leave. It's so compartmentalized, it would be very hard for an equal level opponent to wipe me out. Not sure what a masses wizard attack would do, but I don't see them much

Its sickening how addictive this game is. I work at a software shop which pretty much means every time I describe the game to someone, they are then hooked. The type of people I work with are the perfect target audience. I was pretty low on the FBG clan ladder but had to give up my slot to go start a clan with all these newbs (Newb leading the Newbs type deal). FBG clan will always be my first love!
It is insane that grown adults are having fairly serious conversations on the train commute about strategies and such!!

a buddy of mine was over today. He plays but is not in a clan. I.told him if we get another one going, I'll let him know. Anyway, I am sitting there telling him my wizard tower I'd upgrading when my wife starts laughing and asks us if we hear what we are talking about.Its sickening how addictive this game is. There may be enough of us that can start a decent clan offshoot that allow non-FBG people. I've got one started but it has to get filled up before its useful. Won't be as good as the original, but, will let more newbs in. Anyone like this? Feel free to PM me.

I had the elixir this morning to either upgrade a barracks for wizards or to build the spell building.
I opted to build the spell building because I wanted my barracks to be available tonight to turn around raids quicker

It's actually not that bad.
I mean if I'm just raiding I wait for the notification that the army is done, attack, rebuild, shut it off. So it's a couple minute distraction maybe 2x an hour plus poop time and all that.

I've been having problems with the game all day. May be a flaky WiFi connection or phone issues for me, but if you're having issue, it may be on their end. Had two raids crash mid raid and screens freeze up a few times on me.
