There was a gem box on my land after the update. 1000 elixir to smash it...contained 25 gems!

No, not the Santa boxes. You'll know it when you see it. Just a box full of green sparkly gems which you have to clear from your land like any tree. But bigger rewards inside it seems.

It would be so cool if the gem boxes on other people's land were lootable. ie if one appears and you don't collect it then anyone attacking can grab it.

interesting that these exist and i have yet to see one, though i have been only playing for about a month now. i assume these are random, so i am randomly unlucky.

actually i think only the clan leader, mine says ask your clan leader to start a war.

I started the matchmaking but then cancelled. It says it takes 10 minutes to an hour to make a match but if you look on supercell forums there are a ton of bugs right now. I'll see if I can find a match once I get home from work. Then we get a day to get set up.

I don't think we are optimized for a clan war but I'm going to go ahead and set it up anyway. Since we are at 50, we will be matched with another 50 village clan and all members of our clan will be available for attack.
This will actually help identify and weed out inactives in our own clan.
BTW, IF you don't have a mutliple of 5 in your clan, then they drop you to the next bracket. So if we were at 49, we would get put in a 45 village war. Then the lowest four trophy count villages in our clan would be ineligible. Just something to think about if we ever drop down below 50.
