No one seems to be objecting to it. The top guys are very underdeveloped compared to the last war. If anyone is in a range where +5 is looking too tough speak up, otherwise looks like that's what we can go with.We sticking with +5?
Would be interesting to try....... I didn't find dragons terribly effective, but I don't know if a CC full of wizards is any less of a burden than dragons are.How many stars do you think we'd sacrifice going from valks/dragons to lvl 4 wizards, for example? Honest question, I just know that the guys shouldering the donation load have a heavy burden with back to back wars. Why? Are we not trying to win?We should revisit downgrading the CC troops again. We'd probably dominate even with empty CCs at this point.
Why? I don't want ot be a jerk or viewed as a jerk but I also want to play aggressively and raid and lightning for as many resources as I can get.Only poor form is 3 lighting on DE imo.

You lose % of loot based on how high your TH is compared to opponent. So if you are both in the same trophy range, but you have a higher TH, you get less loot. Conversely, they get more of your loot when they attack you. What's the downside to upgrading your TH when you're not really ready?
The kind of people that can target you is 100% based on your trophy count, right?
Seems like having some extra defenses while I do my normal TH8 upgrades is worth it, but maybe I'm missing something.
So basically the downside is that an added 10% of your loot is available to people who attack me. Okay. Still seems worth it.. The loot multiplier is what is behind the loot "penalty". The amount of available loot = calculated loot x loot multiplier. The loot multiplier is determined as follows:
5% for attacking someone with a Town Hall (TH) 4+ levels lower than the attacker's.
25% for attacking someone with a TH 3 levels lower than the attacker's.
50% for attacking someone with a TH 2 levels lower than the attacker's.
90% for attacking someone with a TH 1 level lower than the attacker's.
100% for attacking someone with a TH level equivalent to the attacker's.
I don't feel that's the correct way to look at it. Say you are TH7 and you are making your living raiding TH6, moving up to TH8 means you are now only able to raid 50% of those resources. Conversely, at TH7, a TH9 only gets 50% of your resources, while at TH8 they will now get 90%.So basically the downside is that an added 10% of your loot is available to people who attack me. Okay. Still seems worth it.. The loot multiplier is what is behind the loot "penalty". The amount of available loot = calculated loot x loot multiplier. The loot multiplier is determined as follows:

90% for attacking someone with a TH 1 level lower than the attacker's.
100% for attacking someone with a TH level equivalent to the attacker's.
You'll definitely enjoy it. Welcome to the fold!I am so ready to kick some ### and take names.
The 10% is noise. You need to look at the 50% trip points. So basically the downside is that an added 10% of your loot is available to people who attack me. Okay. Still seems worth it.. Yeah, I agree with this 2-level difference outlook. As TH8, I had to consider moving up meant that returns from TH7 targets would be cut by about half. But it was worth it to me -- TH7 DE stocks are scarce, so most of my targets were TH8-9 anyway. And why not give myself more firepower to counter those xbows? The 10% is noise. I tend to look at for when I am looting rather than what can be looted. If you are a TH7, you can loot TH6 all day long. Like I said, 10% is noise so you can still get plenty of resources. But if you jump to TH8 early, those TH6 resources essentially just got cut in half. They become bad choices for raids more frequently than not. So now you'll be stuck raiding TH7s almost exclusively which if you don't have the army upgrades in place can be really tough.
It's only a couple days in for me, but I'm not experiencing any drop in income. But I'm not barching lately either (I expect barch returns would certainly suffer).I think leaving th8 too early might be a mistake because of the loot % from th7. I plan on finishing everything th8 has before stepping up so I don't get rolled nonstop

I do expect to get raided a lot more by TH10. I have been spending everything as I make it, so they're ignoring me for now, but that will change I'm sure.

I had problems initially at TH10 getting resources, switched to ballonions and increased my trophy range. I'd recommend it if you have max ballons and haven't tried it yet.The Duff Man said:First GoWiWi attack coming up tonight. Finding TH10 tough to get resources. Going to have to cut number of attacks down and plan on hitting tougher opponents with 200k+ gold, but use all 5 spells and get it all.

I find the scheduling of balloonion one of the appeals (and you mentioned this in the original thread). I can log in for 5 minutes to attack and queue the next army, then do something else (work!) for 40 minutes or whatever. Basically 1-2 attacks per hour. The problem I know I will encounter is when I try to save up, say, 5.4 million gold for a level 7 wizard tower upgrade. That might take say 20 successful balloonions. But between these attacks, I expect to be looted every time by a bigger fish; such that saving that last 2 million might be impossible without staying logged on. How did you overcome this? Or were you running a different offense while you upgraded defenses?
Here's my post from the original CoC thread. I deploy by choosing the weakest side or corner / and or targeting the side where storages are most exposed (especially the DE storage or DE drills) and spreading my balloons out. This normally covers 1-2 sides of a base. Wait a few secs then deploy minions in a line right behind the balloons. I wait because balloons move slow and i want them to trigger any air bombs. Air bombs are splash damage and can take out a ton of minions with one bomb but dont hurt balloons too much. The guide i link has videos and much more details on how to deploy.Whats the deployment strategy and ideal makeup of army for balloonion?I had problems initially at TH10 getting resources, switched to ballonions and increased my trophy range. It is very effective for me. I only started raiding ballonions once i hit TH10 but I wish I had done it more at TH9. I started raiding ballonions with Level 6 Ballons (max) and level 5 minions(I now have max level 6 minions). I never gem barracks, rebuilding the army takes ~30 min so I raid about twice an hour.
Typical army when I first started Ballonion:
16 ballons
60 minions
200 total army camp
Typical spell mix: 2 lightning (for CC troops), 2 rage, 1 heal (may swap out heal for freeze once I upgrade freeze more)
I try not to use spells on all raids, just depends on the base difficulty but I can get away with using 1 spell or less about a third of my raids.
I highly recommend it if you have max Ballons and L5+ minions. I used to raid Giants/Healer at TH9 but find at TH10 since TH8 bases are no longer realistic targets due to loot penalty it's much tougher to loot TH9/10 bases with the traditional Giant/Healer combo. It’s a perfect raiding style for me as I don’t like to constantly raid Barch or BAM 4-5 times an hour forcing me to be very active. I like to raid every 30 min then go do other things/watch tv etc then come back and raid again.
- Wiz towers and air bombs are worrisome for minions but AA’s and Archer Towers aren’t a big deal since my ballons tank and the swarm of minions move fast and have high damage
- Avoid bases with X-bows pointed up
- DE is much more plentiful to loot at higher trophy count, I regularly raid and get 2k+ DE (army only costs 600-800 DE) in Crystal 1/Master 3 league. My biggest DE loot in a single raid was 5.7k DE
- Target bases where I can get 50% and about 200k+ of each gold and elixir and 2k+ DE. I rarely get more than 50% but even getting half the base, 1/2 storages and collectors, and the DE storage will net me 200k/200k and 2k DE.
- League win bonus really starts to add up in Crystal 1 (55k gold/55k elixir 200 DE) and Masters 3 (75k/75k, 400 DE)
There’s a great post on Supercell forums with much more details.

What trophy range are you currently raiding in? I switched to balloons once I was TH10, never did it at TH9. With TH10 my first upgrades were Infernos, which a huge deterrent so I didn't experience what you're going through right now.sjslacker, I'm sort of on the path that you mentioned in the original thread - new TH9 about to max balloons then upgrade minions to level 5 next.I had problems initially at TH10 getting resources, switched to ballonions and increased my trophy range. I'm in gold II (about 1600 trophies). I don't see myself getting inferno towers any time soon, as I just got to TH9 and will probably stay here the rest of the year. What trophy range are you currently raiding in? My guess is you're likely at a very high trophy count and as a TH9 you're a prime target for all the TH10's. Drop down when you are saving for those big upgrades. The trade off will be less DE available from raiding but you'll likely get attacked less.
