Cloverfield (1 Viewer)

I'm probably going to see the 1:15pm showing today.

Was slightly  'd to see it is ony 1 hour and 24 minutes. Can't remember seeing a movie that short in the theater before.

Best movie I've seen in a long time. Seems out of place in January. Would've KILLED if released in summer as a blockbuster.

80 minutes is about right for most movies no?
:lmao: Most I've seen are closer to 120 minutes..Looking at the times of the movies showing at our theater:1 hr 47 min1 hr 37 min1 hr 40 min1 hr 31 min2 hr 4 min1 hr 32 min2 hr 4 min1 hr 44 minThe two on that list that are close to 90 minutes are both "Kids" Movies..Not saying there is anything wrong with that. Just that these days to have an "adult" movie under 90 minutes is rare.

True, but this movie doesn't hold back on the monster until near the end. The movie doesn't let up once we see the beast.

IMO horror movies and comedies should never be much longer than that (90min). RARELY do they have the plot to go to the 2 hour mark. Interested to see this movie. One review that I saw stated that if you get nauseous easy sit in the back - very choppy, handheld camera work.

My guess is that it would have done great the first weekend and then been very mediocre the rest, if it was even successful that first weekend going up against other summer blockbusters.Frankly, this movie looks terrible. The monster seems dumb, the advertising campaign tried way too hard and was lame, and the hand-held camera schtick is just awful. I haven't seen it, but I've heard enough about it that I have absolutely zero desire to go see it.IMO, it sounds like "Godzilla: 9/11" to me.

While it is shot on a handheld camera, the choppiness and shakiness only come you would expect it. Such as when getting chased or running for their lives, the other times, the camera was fine. Bourne movies had more shake than this.

My friend had tickets to a showing at Midnight. His wife didn't to go, so he asked me. I'm up till 2 sometimes anyways.

I REALLY want to see this but I get VERY motion sick VERY easily. I wonder if I popped a couple of dramaine before the movie if I'd be alright.

I know.......weak.

Maybe...I never used to get motion sickness. Then one day I was playing a videogame and I felt sick after 10 minutes. I think it has something to do with the horizon and your brain using it to orient itself. If what you are seeing is jumping around or shaking, your brain can't correct itself.

BTW... If you are in the area and want to see the 1pm showing feel free to stop by as I'll probably have the whole theater to myself. :goodposting:

The people I usually go to movies with can't make the 1pm showing so I'll be heading out alone and 90% of the time no one else is there for the early Friday afternoon show.

Had to sit close to the front in a packed theater last night at midnight. The shaky cam is brutal if you sit close to the screen, but luckily I'm not one to get motion sickness easily.

I really liked it though, I'd just recommend sitting away from the screen when you watch it.

Out in the West Coast, so I saw the midnight showing.

Anyways the movie never lets up once the carnage begins. Intensity the whole movie.

I did however go into the movie without any expectations, except for the fact that it looked interesting. Then 10 minutes before the movie begins my friends spoil it for me and tell me it is a monster attacking NY and that it is shot from 1st person perspective, which I thought would make the movie automatically "teh suck" but I was wrong.

The 1st person perspective adds to the intensity, the acting is pretty good, and Hud is good for some comic relief.

May not be the best movie or withstand the test of time, but if you want a movie that will "make you feel" like you experienced "something" this is it.

It kind of is Godzilla: 9/11, except the characters are all beautiful yet somewhat soulless 20-somethings. The movie looks terrible to you, but it is going to make a decent amount of money. I enjoyed it very much.

Not bad except there was one thing you forgot to mention.. the Non-running/Shakiness is for about 5 minutes of the total film once the action starts. :lol:My wife gets motion sickness I I'd say there is a 90% chance she would have gotten sick at times.

I enjoyed it..I'd say with word of mouth it stays in the top 5 for a month at least. Intense  movie. :bag:

not bad - the length was a bit short but it left me wanting more rather than bored.
Actually I thought the length was perfect.. In fact there were a couple of minutes they could have chopped off and it might have been even better.

u talk to these guys in the theatre to find out they are married or you lookin for rings?
One of the guys walked in right before the movie and said:"guess my wife wasn't the only Chicken S##t not to come to this" :thumbup:I live in a town of less than 5,000 people. I've seen 3 of the other guys around town with S.O.'s..

Saw it today and loved it. Just the right amount of CGI. Quick glimpses of the monster until the end was perfect. Very intense. I also liked that no one ever explains what the monster is or where it came from. If no one explains it then it cant be picked apart the way I am Legend was.

Excellent movie. If I had one complaint it would be that to much time was spent on the surprise party. I was really getting bored but then the #### hit the fan and it was all good. I also liked the ending testimonials mirroring what they did at the surprise party. Nice gimmick with the old stuff that was taped on a happy day breaking in every once in a while.
