Clowney is a Seahawk (1 Viewer)

New #Seahawks pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney has been training in Florida all summer, and according to someone who has watched him, is in better shape than he’s been in in years. Seattle will get a game-ready pass-rusher.

No details on what HOU got in return yet

I have Seattle's D/ST. Didn't even draft them.

Reported 2020 3rd + defensive players. No RB or OL
So even if he doesn't re-sign with them, they'll get the pick back as a compensatory selection in the future.

They played BOB like a fiddle. Should really get himself a GM. But not until after he trades a 1st and a 3rd for Trent Williams to save Watson and his job.

Not sure they are too worried about Dan Snyder and team outsmarting them.  :lmao:

Pretty big upgrade from Clark in my opinion, doubly so, since Clark netted a 1st rounder.
Clark is the better player.  Clowney is a good player, but overhyped because of his status as a former #1 overall.

I do agree that the value the Seahawks got for Clark vs what they gave up for Clowney is pretty huge.

No kidding. Snyder and Allen are the only duo who could be outsmarted by the GM-less BOB-led Texans. It makes me nervous, but then I remember they're too stubborn and dumb to be open to getting premium draft assets for an old OT on a bad team anyways...I'm sure they'll just stand pat and let him waste away to...send him a message?

Yep.  Once they franchised him, Clowney had all the leverage.
To be more precise, once they let the deadline to extend franchise players pass, Clowney had all the leverage. Last year they could’ve traded him for a Khalil Mack sized haul. This year, nothing available but leftovers.

Clowney was never going to stay in Houston.  Miami and Washington were never going to part with their left tackles (without getting multiple first rounders).

Martin will help Houston win games, and a 3rd rounder is value.  Mingo adds nothing to the deal.

I strongly disagree that Clark is better. I'm very curious to see what he does without Pete Carroll, but I think he'll be another Bruce Irvin, where he'll miss Seattle a lot more than they'll miss him. I don't think Clark does anything better than Clowney, except maybe stay healthy.

They never would have gotten a Mack sized haul. Mack is a HOF talent, Clowney is a very good player. They likely could have gotten a 1st rounder though.

I think Houston was lucky to get what they did. As a Steelers fan, I would love to have brought in a useful player and a 3rd for Bell last year.

First for Clowney could only have happened if they’d been able to do it before the franchise deadline was, when the team giving the pick could deal it for a player they’d have under contract for several years.

Clowney can’t renegotiate now until the offseason, so the acquiring team will only trade for one year’s worth of him, which is not worth a 1st.

I "stumbled upon" the SEAHAWKS DST  as a last round pick in one draft.  I primarily picked them up as a streamer in week 1. (@ home vs. Cincy)

Maybe this kicks them a notch above being a streaming option now.

I don't know. 14th in DVOA last year for the year. Big time contributor suspended for six games. We'll see...

I agree, I was responding to a hypothetical if they had dealt Clowney a year ago.

Definitely bumps them up on that week 1 match up though. They were already a nice streaming option, more so now
It does for streaming, that's for sure. Be nice to pick up some points on a strip sack or something like it. I have a feeling that Seattle will get a heavy dose of Mixon, though.

This exactly what I was alluding to earlier.

The schedule isn't exactly a bed of roses, but I drafted them to essentially stream week 1, then go elsewhere.

AT WORST  I feel better than  I did before about week 1 anyway.................

Weeks 2-3 are PITT and the Saints.       I don't think I'll exactly be firing them up with confidence in those weeks. But it does seem like they might be a decent streamer here and there.

The bad part is, if the Seahawks DEF goes off in week 1, then what do you do...?    I hate clogging up a roster spot with a defense. That sucks. :wall:

Maybe but their offensive line looks putrid. Idk that mixon will be squeezing any blood from that stone

Yep. Only thing is that if they keep it on the ground, less sacks, less turnovers (generally). The point scoring aspect of a fantasy defense can be negated by running the ball even down twenty.

Even if just for one year thats a great deal for them.  Sucks having a cap casualty like Brown, but that front 7 will be nasty
