COACHING CAROUSEL (1 Viewer)

How many confirmed yet other than Lovie, Reid and Shurmur?

Just going off of what I read on twitter.

Almost everyone of those posted on twitter.

Usually where there is smoke there is fire.

With the Panthers winning the last four, even after a ton of injuries, I have a feeling that Rivera is going to keep his job, even though it looked like he was definitely gone just a few weeks ago.

I'm on the fence about it, because I'm not tremendously confident that the late season success will be able to be carried over into next year...but I think that a good argument can be made that the team is turning a corner and all of the units are starting to finally gel together.

A month ago, I would have given him a 5% chance of staying. Now, I think there's only about a 25% chance he's gone.

You're probably right. Seems to happen every year that a late, meaningless surge keeps a questionable coach alive. I feel like Norv did it a couple times. Maybe Raheem Morris in 2010? Kubiak did it in 2009 with a worthless 5-7 turnaround to 9-7. Does Reid last year count? 4-8 to 8-8? But Carolina has now technically gone from 2 wins to 6 to 7 so there might be enough of an upward trend to keep him around. Probably not a good thing for Stewart owners.

if the Texans go out in the 1st round does Kubiak get 2 in the hat ?
Highly doubtful. Despite their late season collapse, 12-4 is the best record the club has ever had and he has back to back playoff appearences. But if the late season struggles continue into next season, anything can happen.

PFT and others reporting Koetter is interviewing for Eagles, Browns, and Chiefs jobs.

I have a feeling the Browns are going to end up hiring him. His scheme seems to fit some of their personnel with Richardson in the screen game, Weeden/Gordon stretching the field vertically, etc. Would hate to see Koetter leave ATL so soon though, and I don't know who I'd want to see as OC to replace him.

When was the last time this many head coaches were fired at the same time? Seven seems like a lot.

So best candidates with HC experience:

Cowher

Gruden

Reid

Lovie

Whisenhunt

Turner

Does anyone expect Crennel or Gailey to sign on as HC with another team?

Koetter sounds like he'll definitely get one of them. I expect Lovie, Reid, and Whis to all find new HC gigs elsewhere. I could see Lovie in Arizona.

If Norv Turner gets hired again by an NFL team I hope that cities fans all jump ship or go pull the owner out of his castle like an old Frankenstein movie.

Wiz wasnt the problem in Az. The trade to get Kolb blew up in their faces. Kolb looked like he may be the real deal but he wasnt.

QB's kill a lot of coaches.

I think the right decision would have been to fire the GM and get a new QB.

Feel sorry for whiz. You can only make a meal out of what the GM gives you and in whiz's case, graves gave him a sack of chicken skeletons and stale corn on the kolb.

He should find work quickie. As I think love will.

IMO, Reid should do like fisher and take a year to recharge.

I think gruden will get a lot of interest and he's in a spot where he has had a cat-bird seat to info the last few years. I'm betting he goes to San Diego. Just a hunch.

I think the chin is ready to return and if Carolina doesn't open up I would love to see him in kc or Philly

Bears have already requested permission to interview McCoy.

ETA Is Joe Vitt on anyone's radar? He did a decent job once he was allowed to coach.

Cards have too. Glazer says he's a hot commodity this year (as expected by a lot of Bronco fans). I just hope it doesn't throw off the playoff run for Denver.
Peyton Manning is the OC there. That guy could leave tomorrow and they wouldnt even notice.
It's not just Manning. He's done impressive things with Tebow and Orton in Denver as well.

why haven't the jets cleaned house yet?
Because they are idiots.
Because they are tied to Mark Sanchez for one more year no matter what happens. Why take away the only person outside of Mark's mother who will still take a bullet for him? Hell, if Sanchez's mom is a Jets fan, even she might not take the bullet...
He should be fired for his refusal to start Tebow. He might not be an elite QB, but he's WAY better than Sanchez.

Oh please, just stop. Did you cry when the Raiders started Pryor over Leinart too? Teblow is a 3rd string QB who is the same as nameless others who have survived as a name based on their college credentials. He is such a huge distraction to any team that accepts him on their team it wouldn't even surprise me if he is out of the league as soon as next offseason.

Should Reid emerge as the HC in the Desert...would be a very interesting off-season for AZ. What happens with Kolb? Will Fitzgerald rebound as a top-10 WR (statistics-wise)? Will Reid have control over all personnel decisions with both the HC and GM shown the door?

I read earlier today that Reid was campaigning for the SD job, that he'd already started to assemble a coaching staff. Of course, other sites are stating not so much. I'd rather see him take a year off to get into better health - he looks worse and worse each year. He needs Ditka to whoop his ### into shape, then get back out there to coach in 2014.

Ranking the open coaching spots by appeal;

KC, I think this team has a great core of talent already in place. Just need a QB, even an average QB and a new coach can look like a hero.

Clev, I believe the Browns also have a strong core of talent, though not as strong as KC.

Chi, has the best QB of any team listed and a solid D already in place.

SD, Rivers alone should make this appealing.

Philly, there are some really good players on the Eagles roster.

Buf, I actually think Wizz could do well here.

Arz, team is a total disaster on O.

I'm not a Raiders fan so I didn't care who started at QB. If I was, I'd want Pryor to start, to see what he has. Leinart, I'm sure they realize, is not their QB of the future. Tebow, despite how much he is hated, won games in Denver last year. Sanchez has proven he is a bum, so why would they even bother starting him over Tebow? Why not at least give the guy a shot?

Sure, they should have started Tebow. Just make sure to give him the same All-Pro receiving corps and call the same plays (no college stuff he ran so well), then we'll have an even comparison.

 sure, why would a coach call plays based on his players' abilities?
