COACHING CAROUSEL (1 Viewer)

Reid has made it clear he doesn't want a year off, so he'll take a job. He wants the Chargers but I don't get a sense Spanos favors the move.

I really don't want to see the Eagles go after Koetter, that would depress me. McCoy intrigues me but its hard for me to give him credit for this year, Manning brought his own system to town as we knew he would. However, McCoy has learned under John Fox and hopefully he's got the organizational discipline and communication skills needed to be a head coach.

Well, you don't know... When Reid went in to interview for the Eagles job, he blew them all away with his preparation. He had a complete analysis of their current roster, where the strengths and weaknesses were, an analysis of how he would draft and what he would look for, etc. etc. etc. At the time he was merely an assistant in GB. So it is not outside the realm of possibility that he could warm up Spanos if he gets a chance to interview.

McCoy also clearly did good things with Tebow and Delhomme, so it is much more than that. And than was willing to adapt and let Manning do his thing.

I also think it doesn't hurt if he actually learned several things from Manning.

Holmgren is making his services available. He'd probably want personnel control though.
That's not a terrible thing. He did a very good job building up Seattle. They started going downhill after personnel and GM duties were taken from him and that unnamed SB team dismantler left the team almost completely bereft of talent by the time he was done.

Who are you talking about here?

Andy Reid talking to KC and AZ, and is expecting to have things move fast--he's telling potential assistants that he could have things in place in as brief a period as a week.

I don't know, but it seems to me me that KC is a better bet for him than AZ.

Somehow he seems to fit in KC IMO. Just seems the kind of guy who would do well there. Not a sexy pick, but one that could put KC into the playoffs fairly quickly.

why haven't the jets cleaned house yet?
Because they are idiots.
Because they are tied to Mark Sanchez for one more year no matter what happens. Why take away the only person outside of Mark's mother who will still take a bullet for him? Hell, if Sanchez's mom is a Jets fan, even she might not take the bullet...
He should be fired for his refusal to start Tebow. He might not be an elite QB, but he's WAY better than Sanchez.
Oh please, just stop. Did you cry when the Raiders started Pryor over Leinart too? Teblow is a 3rd string QB who is the same as nameless others who have survived as a name based on their college credentials. He is such a huge distraction to any team that accepts him on their team it wouldn't even surprise me if he is out of the league as soon as next offseason.
I'm not a Raiders fan so I didn't care who started at QB. If I was, I'd want Pryor to start, to see what he has. Leinart, I'm sure they realize, is not their QB of the future. Tebow, despite how much he is hated, won games in Denver last year. Sanchez has proven he is a bum, so why would they even bother starting him over Tebow? Why not at least give the guy a shot?
Sure, they should have started Tebow. Just make sure to give him the same All-Pro receiving corps and call the same plays (no college stuff he ran so well), then we'll have an even comparison.
what? One of the reason's McCoy's name is being thrown around as a possible HC for the 2nd year in a row is his willingness to change the entire Denver offence (midseason no less) which helped Denver win the division and playoff game last year. If a team is going to start TT why would they do it without giving him a chance to succeed?

Tim Ruskell. Took over and then shut down SB teams in Atlanta, TB and Seattle. IIRC, he was hired in the SB year to take over GM duties after Homgren was stripped of those duties. Just horrible at picking football players, though not every pick was bad of course.

Looks like it's Andy Reed to KC. I think that is a better fit for him than Arizona. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8809040/andy-reid-verge-agreement-kansas-city-chiefs-sources
Is this good or bad for Jamal?
Ask Shady McCoy and Brian Westbrook. He'll be a stud, esp in PPR leagues as Andy loves to throw to running backs and JC has decent hands.
This. I'm loving his potential for next year. Reed will get the ball to Charles in space, where he does his best work, and if he ever learns to run the ball more than 10 times a game Charles has #1 overall RB potential.

One down... six to go...Per KFFL:

Chiefs | Andy Reid reaches agreement Fri, 04 Jan 2013 08:06:01 -0800 The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a contract with Andy Reid to be their next head coach. Lawyers are reviewing the contract before it becomes official.

Is any team plan on interviewing Darrell Bevell? I think he deserves a good amount of credit for changing the Seattle offense with Russell Wilson at the helm.

He is, but I can't remember where. Gus Bradley (the Seahawks DC) is also getting interviewed as well. It's probably a matter of time (another year?) before Tom Cable is a candidate again. It sucks for us Seahawks fans (I never thought I'd say that about Bevell), but you also get solid coaching talent if people are getting promoted through the system.

With Bevell its interesting...in Minnesota was Childress just that inept? He seemed to have more control over the offense than Bevell...and he himself was not in control of the offense in Philly (it was Reid's baby).Always thought Bevell was in a bit over his head in Minnesota (along with Childress). Neither had much experience with full control of anything prior to that.Good to see for Bevell...interesting career thus far after a pretty lackluster career as a QB at Wisconsin.

From Schefter:"Two candidates for the Jaguars HC job are expected to be 49ers OC Greg Roman and Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer."If I'm a Jags fan, I would be either very excited or very depressed, respectively.

Jags fire HC Mike Mularkey.
hope for Jags fans that the new GM talks the owner out of going after Tebow just to sell tix/jerseys
I don't know much about Caldwell, but him taking the Jaguars job (and firing the coach) instead of taking the Jets job (and being forced to retain the coach) shows he has enough smarts to avoid that sort of situation, so it may already be worked out.
